| 3 | Her princes in the midst of her are roaring lions; her judges are evening wolves; they leave nothing till the morrow. | I suoi capi in mezzo a lei sono leoni ruggenti; i suoi giudici sono lupi della sera, che non lasciano alcun osso da rosicchiare per il mattino. |
| 4 | Her prophets are light and treacherous persons; her priests have profaned the sanctuary, they have done violence to the law. | I suoi profeti sono vanagloriosi perfidi, i suoi sacerdoti hanno profanato il luogo santo, hanno fatto violenza alla legge. |
| 5 | Jehovah in the midst of her is righteous; he will not do iniquity; every morning doth he bring his justice to light, he faileth not; but the unjust knoweth no shame. | L'Eterno è giusto in mezzo a lei egli non commette iniquità. Ogni mattino egli porta alla luce la sua giustizia e non viene mai meno, ma il perverso non conosce vergogna. |
| 6 | I have cut off nations; their battlements are desolate; I have made their streets waste, so that none passeth by; their cities are destroyed, so that there is no man, so that there is no inhabitant. | Ho sterminato nazioni; le loro torri sono distrutte, ho reso deserte le loro strade, e nessuno più vi passa; le loro città sono distrutte, e nessuno più vi abita. |
| 7 | I said, Only fear thou me; receive correction; so her dwelling shall not be cut off, [according to] all that I have appointed concerning her: but they rose early and corrupted all their doings. | Io dicevo: "Certamente tu mi temerai, accetterai la correzione" così la sua dimora non sarebbe distrutta, nonostante tutte le punizioni che le ho inflitto. Ma essi si sono affrettati a pervertire tutte le loro azioni. |
| 8 | Therefore wait ye for me, saith Jehovah, until the day that I rise up to the prey; for my determination is to gather the nations, that I may assemble the kingdoms, to pour upon them mine indignation, even all my fierce anger; for all the earth shall be devoured with the fire of my jealousy. | Perciò, aspettami, dice l'Eterno, quando mi leverò per far bottino, perché la mia determinazione è di radunare le nazioni, di riunire i regni, per riversare su di essi la mia indignazione, tutto l'ardore della mia ira; sì, tutta la terra sarà divorata dal fuoco della mia gelosia. |
| 9 | For then will I turn to the peoples of a pure language, that they may all call upon the name of Jehovah, to serve him with one consent. | Poiché allora darò ai popoli un linguaggio puro, affinché tutti invochino il nome dell'Eterno, per servirlo di comune accordo. |
| 10 | From beyond the rivers of Ethiopia my suppliants, even the daughter of my dispersed, shall bring mine offering. | Da oltre i fiumi di Etiopia i miei adoratori, la figlia dei miei dispersi, mi porteranno le loro offerte. |
| 11 | In that day shalt thou not be put to shame for all thy doings, wherein thou hast transgressed against me; for then I will take away out of the midst of thee thy proudly exulting ones, and thou shalt no more be haughty in my holy mountain. | In quel giorno non avrai più vergogna di tutte le tue azioni con le quali ti sei ribellata contro di me, perché allora farò allontanare dal tuo mezzo quelli che si rallegrano nella tua grandezza, e tu cesserai di inorgoglirti sul mio monte santo. |
| 12 | But I will leave in the midst of thee an afflicted and poor people, and they shall take refuge in the name of Jehovah. | Farò rimanere in mezzo a te un popolo umile e povero, che confiderà nel nome dell'Eterno. |
| 13 | The remnant of Israel shall not do iniquity, nor speak lies; neither shall a deceitful tongue be found in their mouth; for they shall feed and lie down, and none shall make them afraid. | Il residuo d'Israele non commetterà iniquità e non dirà più menzogne, né si troverà nella loro bocca lingua ingannatrice; poiché essi pascoleranno il loro gregge, si coricheranno e nessuno li spaventerà. |
| 14 | Sing, O daughter of Zion; shout, O Israel; be glad and rejoice with all the heart, O daughter of Jerusalem. | Manda grida di gioia o figlia di Sion, manda grida d'allegrezza, o Israele! Rallegrati ed esulta di tutto cuore, o figlia di Gerusalemme! |
| 15 | Jehovah hath taken away thy judgments, he hath cast out thine enemy: the King of Israel, even Jehovah, is in the midst of thee; thou shalt not fear evil any more. | L'Eterno ha revocato i suoi giudizi contro di te, ha cacciato via il tuo nemico. Il Re d'Israele, l'Eterno, è in mezzo a te, non avrai più da temere alcun male. |
| 16 | In that day it shall be said to Jerusalem, Fear thou not; O Zion, let not thy hands be slack. | In quel giorno si dirà a Gerusalemme: Non temere, o Sion, le tue mani non si indeboliscano! |
| 17 | Jehovah thy God is in the midst of thee, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love; he will joy over thee with singing. | L'Eterno, il tuo DIO, in mezzo a te e il Potente che salva. Egli esulterà di gioia per te, nel suo amore starà in silenzio, si rallegrerà per te con grida di gioia. |
| 18 | I will gather them that sorrow for the solemn assembly, who were of thee; [to whom] the burden upon her was a reproach. | Io raccoglierò quelli che sono afflitti per le assemblee solenni, che sono tra di voi, per i quali il peso per lei era divenuto oggetto di disprezzo. |
| 19 | Behold, at that time I will deal with all them that afflict thee; and I will save that which is lame, and gather that which was driven away; and I will make them a praise and a name, whose shame hath been in all the earth. | Ecco, in quel tempo io agirò contro quelli che ti opprimono, salverò lo zoppo e raccoglierò quelli che sono stati scacciati, e li renderò gloriosi e rinomati in tutti i paesi dove sono stati nella vergogna. |
| 20 | At that time will I bring you in, and at that time will I gather you; for I will make you a name and a praise among all the peoples of the earth, when I bring back your captivity before your eyes, saith Jehovah. | In quel tempo io vi farò ritornare, sì, in quel tempo vi raccoglierò poiché vi renderò rinomati e gloriosi fra tutti i popoli della terra, quando, sotto i vostri occhi, farò ritornare quelli che sono in cattività, dice l'Eterno. |
