Lord, thou hast been our dwelling-place In all generations.Preghiera di MosèThe prayer of Moses, the man of God. Master, you have been our home forever and ever.
Before the mountains were brought forth, Or ever thou hadst formed the earth and the world, Even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God.Prima che i monti fossero nati e che tu avessi formato la terra e il mondo, anzi da sempre e per sempre tu sei DIO.God, you were God before the mountains were born and the earth and the world were made. God, you have always been, and you will always be, God!
Tu fais rentrer les hommes dans la poussière, Et tu dis : Fils de l'homme, retournez !Thou turnest man to destruction, And sayest, Return, ye children of men.Tu fai ritornare l'uomo in polvere e dici: Ritornate, o figli degli uomini. You bring people into this world. And you change them into dust again.
For a thousand years in thy sight Are but as yesterday when it is past, And as a watch in the night. To you, a thousand years is like yesterday, like last night.
Tu les emportes, semblables à un songe, Qui, le matin, passe comme l'herbe :Thou carriest them away as with a flood; they are as a sleep: In the morning they are like grass which groweth up.Tu li porti via come un'inondazione. You sweep us away. Our life is like a dream, and in the morning, we are gone. We are like grass.
In the morning it flourisheth, and groweth up; In the evening it is cut down, and withereth.La mattina essa fiorisce e verdeggia, la sera è falciata e dissecca. In the morning the grass grows, and in the evening it is dry and dying.
For we are consumed in thine anger, And in thy wrath are we troubled. God, your anger could destroys us. Your anger scares us!
Thou hast set our iniquities before thee, Our secret sins in the light of thy countenance. You know about all our sins. You see every one of our secret sins.
For all our days are passed away in thy wrath: We bring our years to an end as a sigh.Poiché tutti i nostri giorni svaniscono nella tua ira; finiamo i nostri anni come un sospiro.Your anger can end our life. Our lives fade away like a whisper.
The days of our years are threescore years and ten, Or even by reason of strength fourscore years; Yet is their pride but labor and sorrow; For it is soon gone, and we fly away.I giorni dei nostri anni arrivano a settant'anni e per i più forti a ottanta ma quel che costituisce il loro orgoglio non è che travaglio e vanità, perché passa in fretta e noi ce ne voliamo via.We live maybe 70 years. And if we are strong, maybe 80 years. Our lives are filled with hard work and pain. Then suddenly, our lives are finished! And we fly away.
Who knoweth the power of thine anger, And thy wrath according to the fear that is due unto thee? No person really knows the full power of your anger, God. But God, our fear and respect for you is as great as your anger.
So teach us to number our days, That we may get us a heart of wisdom. Teach us how short our lives really are, so we can become really wise.
Reviens, Éternel ! Jusques à quand ?... Aie pitié de tes serviteurs !Return, O Jehovah; how long? And let it repent thee concerning thy servants.Ritorna, o Eterno! Fino a quando? E abbi pietà dei tuoi servi.Lord, always come back to us. Be kind to your servants.
Oh satisfy us in the morning with thy lovingkindness, That we may rejoice and be glad all our days. Fill us with your love every morning. Let us be happy and enjoy our lives.
Make us glad according to the days wherein thou hast afflicted us, And the years wherein we have seen evil. You gave us much sadness and troubles in our lives. Now make us happy.
Que ton oeuvre se manifeste à tes serviteurs, Et ta gloire sur leurs enfants !Let thy work appear unto thy servants, And thy glory upon their children. Let your servants see the wonderful things you can do for them. And let their children see your glory.
Affermis l'ouvrage de nos mains, Oui, affermis l'ouvrage de nos mains !And let the favor of the Lord our God be upon us; And establish thou the work of our hands upon us; Yea, the work of our hands establish thou it. May our God and Master be kind to us. May everything we do provide for us, and may God provide everything we do.
