| 18 | For the LORD is our defence; and the Holy One of Israel is our king. | Parce que tu es la gloire de leur force; et notre pouvoir est distingué par ta faveur. |
| 19 | Then thou spakest in vision to thy holy one, and saidst, I have laid help upon one that is mighty; I have exalted one chosen out of the people. | Car notre bouclier est l'Eternel, et notre Roi est le Saint d'Israël. |
| 20 | I have found David my servant; with my holy oil have I anointed him: | Tu as autrefois parlé en vision touchant ton bien-aimé, et tu as dit: J'ai ordonné mon secours en faveur d'un homme vaillant; j'ai élevé l'élu d'entre le peuple. |
| 21 | With whom my hand shall be established: mine arm also shall strengthen him. | J'ai trouvé David mon serviteur, je l'ai oint de ma sainte huile; |
| 22 | The enemy shall not exact upon him; nor the son of wickedness afflict him. | Ma main sera ferme avec lui, et mon bras le renforcera. |
| 23 | And I will beat down his foes before his face, and plague them that hate him. | L'ennemi ne le rançonnera point, et l'inique ne l'affligera point; |
| 24 | But my faithfulness and my mercy shall be with him: and in my name shall his horn be exalted. | Mais je froisserai devant lui ses adversaires, et je détruirai ceux qui le haïssent. |
| 25 | I will set his hand also in the sea, and his right hand in the rivers. | Ma fidélité et ma bonté seront avec lui; et sa gloire sera élevée en mon Nom. |
| 26 | He shall cry unto me, Thou art my father, my God, and the rock of my salvation. | Et je mettrai sa main sur la mer, et sa droite sur les fleuves. |
| 27 | Also I will make him my firstborn, higher than the kings of the earth. | Il m'invoquera, disant: Tu es mon Père; mon Dieu Fort, et le Rocher de ma délivrance. |
| 28 | My mercy will I keep for him for evermore, and my covenant shall stand fast with him. | Aussi je l'établirai l'aîné et le souverain sur les Rois de la terre. |
| 29 | His seed also will I make to endure for ever, and his throne as the days of heaven. | Je lui garderai ma bonté à toujours, et mon alliance lui sera assurée. |
| 30 | If his children forsake my law, and walk not in my judgments; | Je rendrai éternelle sa postérité, et je ferai que son trône sera comme les jours des cieux. |
| 31 | If they break my statutes, and keep not my commandments; | Mais si ses enfants abandonnent ma Loi, et ne marchent point selon mes ordonnances; |
| 32 | Then will I visit their transgression with the rod, and their iniquity with stripes. | S'ils violent mes statuts, et qu'ils ne gardent point mes commandements; |
| 33 | Nevertheless my lovingkindness will I not utterly take from him, nor suffer my faithfulness to fail. | Je visiterai de verge leur transgression, et de plaie leur iniquité. |
| 34 | My covenant will I not break, nor alter the thing that is gone out of my lips. | Mais je ne retirerai point de lui ma bonté, et je ne lui fausserai point ma foi. |
| 35 | Once have I sworn by my holiness that I will not lie unto David. | Je ne violerai point mon alliance, et je ne changerai point ce qui est sorti de mes lèvres. |
| 36 | His seed shall endure for ever, and his throne as the sun before me. | J'ai une fois juré par ma sainteté; (si je mens jamais à David; ) |
| 37 | It shall be established for ever as the moon, and as a faithful witness in heaven. Selah. | Que sa race sera à toujours, et que son trône sera comme le soleil, en ma présence: |
| 38 | But thou hast cast off and abhorred, thou hast been wroth with thine anointed. | Qu'il sera affermi à toujours comme la lune; et il y en aura dans les cieux un témoin certain; Sélah. |
| 39 | Thou hast made void the covenant of thy servant: thou hast profaned his crown by casting it to the ground. | Néanmoins tu l'as rejeté, et l'as dédaigné; tu t'es mis en grande colère contre ton Oint. |
| 40 | Thou hast broken down all his hedges; thou hast brought his strong holds to ruin. | Tu as rejeté l'alliance faite avec ton serviteur; tu as souillé sa couronne, en la jetant par terre. |
| 41 | All that pass by the way spoil him: he is a reproach to his neighbours. | Tu as rompu toutes ses cloisons; tu as mis en ruine ses forteresses. |
