Keep not thou silence, O God: hold not thy peace, and be not still, O God.Cantique. Psaume d'Asaph. One of Asaph’s songs of praise. God, don’t keep quiet! Don’t close your ears! Please say something, God.
For, lo, thine enemies make a tumult: and they that hate thee have lifted up the head. God, your enemies make plans against you, and they will soon attack.
They have taken crafty counsel against thy people, and consulted against thy hidden ones. They make secret plans against your people. Your enemies are discussing plans against the people you love.
They have said, Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation; that the name of Israel may be no more in remembrance. The enemies are saying, Come, let us destroy them completely. Then no person will ever again remember the name ‘Israel’.
For they have consulted together with one consent: they are confederate against thee:Car ils ont conspiré d'un même coeur, ils forment une alliance contre toi;God, all those people joined together to fight against you and the Agreement you made with us.
The tabernacles of Edom, and the Ishmaelites; of Moab, and the Hagarenes;Les tentes d'Édom et les Ismaélites, Moab et les Hagaréniens; Those enemies joined together to fight us: Edom, the Ishmaelite people, Moab and Hagar’s descendants, Byblos, Ammon, the Amalekite people, the Philistine people, and the people living in Tyre.
Gebal, and Ammon, and Amalek; the Philistines with the inhabitants of Tyre;Guébal, Ammon et Amalek, les Philistins avec les habitants de Tyr.All those people joined together to fight us.
Assur also is joined with them: they have holpen the children of Lot. Selah. (Sélah.)Even the Assyrians joined those people. They made Lot’s descendants very powerful. SELAH
Do unto them as unto the Midianites; as to Sisera, as to Jabin, at the brook of Kison:Fais-leur comme à Madian; comme à Sisera, comme à Jabin au torrent de Kisson;God, defeat the enemy like you defeated Midian, like you defeated Sisera and Jabin near the Kishon River.
Which perished at Endor: they became as dung for the earth. You defeated them at En-Dor. And their bodies rotted on the ground.
Make their nobles like Oreb, and like Zeeb: yea, all their princes as Zebah, and as Zalmunna:Rends-les, rends leurs princes semblables à Oreb et à Zéeb; et tous leurs rois à Zébach et à Tsalmuna.God, defeat the enemy’s leaders. Do what you did to Oreb and Zeeb. Do what you did to Zebah and Zalmunna.
Who said, Let us take to ourselves the houses of God in possession. God, those people wanted to force us to leave your land!
O my God, make them like a wheel; as the stubble before the wind. Make those people like a tumbleweed blown by the wind. Scatter those people like the wind scatters straw.
As the fire burneth a wood, and as the flame setteth the mountains on fire;Comme le feu dévore la forêt, comme la flamme embrase les montagnes,Destroy the enemy like a fire destroys a forest, like a wild fire that burns the hills.
So persecute them with thy tempest, and make them afraid with thy storm.Ainsi poursuis-les de ta tempête, épouvante-les par ton ouragan.God, chase those people away like dust blown by a storm. Shake them and blow them away like a tornado.
Fill their faces with shame; that they may seek thy name, O LORD.Remplis leur face d'ignominie, et qu'ils cherchent ton nom, ô Éternel!God, teach those people so they may learn that they are really weak. Then they will want to worship your name!
Let them be confounded and troubled for ever; yea, let them be put to shame, and perish:Qu'ils soient honteux, qu'ils soient épouvantés à jamais, qu'ils soient rendus confus et qu'ils périssent!God, scare those people and make them ashamed forever. Disgrace them and destroy them.
That men may know that thou, whose name alone is JEHOVAH, art the most high over all the earth. Then they will know that you are God. They will know your name is YAHWEH. They will know that you, God Most-High, are the God of the whole world!
