Give ear, O Shepherd of Israel, thou that leadest Joseph like a flock; thou that dwellest between the cherubims, shine forth. Shepherd of Israel, please listen to me. You lead Joseph’s sheep (people). You sit as king on the Cherub angels. Let us see you.
Before Ephraim and Benjamin and Manasseh stir up thy strength, and come and save us.Devant Éphraïm, Benjamin et Manassé, réveille ta puissance et viens nous sauver.Shepherd of Israel, show your greatness to Ephraim, Benjamin, and Manasseh. Come and save us.
Turn us again, O God, and cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved.O Dieu! rétablis-nous; fais luire ta face, et nous serons sauvés!God, accept us again. Accept us. Save us!
O LORD God of hosts, how long wilt thou be angry against the prayer of thy people?Éternel, Dieu des armées, jusques à quand ta colère fumera-t-elle contre la prière de ton peuple?Lord God All-Powerful, when will you listen to our prayers? Will you be angry at us forever?
Thou feedest them with the bread of tears; and givest them tears to drink in great measure. You have given tears as food to your people. You have given your people bowls filled with their tears. That was their water to drink.
Thou makest us a strife unto our neighbours: and our enemies laugh among themselves. You let us become something for our neighbors to fight about. Our enemies laugh at us.
Turn us again, O God of hosts, and cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved. God All-Powerful, accept us again. Accept us. Save us.
Thou hast brought a vine out of Egypt: thou hast cast out the heathen, and planted it.Tu enlevas de l'Égypte une vigne; tu chassas des nations et tu la plantas. In the past, you treated us like a very important plant. You brought your vine out of Egypt. You forced other people to leave this land, and you planted your vine here.
Thou preparedst room before it, and didst cause it to take deep root, and it filled the land. You prepared the ground for the vine. You helped its roots to grow strong. Soon the vine spread throughout the land.
The hills were covered with the shadow of it, and the boughs thereof were like the goodly cedars. It covered the mountains. Its leaves shaded even the giant cedar trees.
She sent out her boughs unto the sea, and her branches unto the river. Its vines spread to the Mediterranean Sea. Its shoots spread to the Euphrates River.
Why hast thou then broken down her hedges, so that all they which pass by the way do pluck her? God, why did you pull down the walls that protect your vine? Now every person who passes by picks its grapes.
The boar out of the wood doth waste it, and the wild beast of the field doth devour it.Que le sanglier des forêts la dévaste, et que les bêtes des champs la broutent?Wild pigs come and walk on your vine. Wild animals come and eat the leaves.
Return, we beseech thee, O God of hosts: look down from heaven, and behold, and visit this vine;Dieu des armées, reviens! God All-Powerful, come back. Look down from heaven at your vine and protect it.
And the vineyard which thy right hand hath planted, and the branch that thou madest strong for thyself. God, look at the vine you planted with your own hands. Look at the young plant you raised.
It is burned with fire, it is cut down: they perish at the rebuke of thy countenance. Your vine was burned in the fire like dry dung. You were angry at it and destroyed it.
Let thy hand be upon the man of thy right hand, upon the son of man whom thou madest strong for thyself.Que ta main soit sur l'homme de ta droite, sur le fils de l'homme que tu t'es choisi;God, reach out to the son who stood by your right side. Reach out to the son you raised.
So will not we go back from thee: quicken us, and we will call upon thy name. He will not leave you again. Let him live, and he will worship your name.
Turn us again, O LORD God of hosts, cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved.Éternel, Dieu des armées, rétablis-nous; fais luire ta face, et nous serons sauvés!Lord God All-Powerful, come back to us. Accept us. Save us.
