Give ear to my prayer, O God; and hide not thyself from my supplication. To the director. With instruments. A maskil of David. God, hear my prayer. Please don’t ignore my prayer for mercy. God, please listen to me and answer me. Let me speak to you and tell you what upsets me.
Attend unto me, and hear me: I mourn in my complaint, and make a noise;Écoute-moi et réponds-moi; je m'agite dans ma plainte, et je gémis,My enemy said bad things to me. That wicked man yelled at me. My enemies were angry and attacked me. They brought troubles crashing down on top of me.
Because of the voice of the enemy, because of the oppression of the wicked: for they cast iniquity upon me, and in wrath they hate me.A la voix de l'ennemi, devant l'oppression du méchant; car ils font tomber sur moi le malheur, et me poursuivent avec furie. My heart is pounding inside me. I am scared to death.
My heart is sore pained within me: and the terrors of death are fallen upon me.Mon coeur frémit au-dedans de moi, et des frayeurs mortelles sont tombées sur moi.I am scared and shaking. I am terrified.
Fearfulness and trembling are come upon me, and horror hath overwhelmed me.La crainte et le tremblement viennent sur moi; l'effroi m'enveloppe.Oh, I wish I had wings like a dove. I would fly away and find a place to rest.
And I said, Oh that I had wings like a dove! for then would I fly away, and be at rest. Je m'envolerais, et j'irais me poser ailleurs.I would go far, far away into the desert. SELAH
Lo, then would I wander far off, and remain in the wilderness. Selah. (Sélah.)I would run away. I would escape. I would run away from this storm of trouble.
I would hasten my escape from the windy storm and tempest. My Master, stop their lies. I see the violence and fighting in this city.
Destroy, O Lord, and divide their tongues: for I have seen violence and strife in the city. Day and night, in every neighborhood, the city is filled with crime and vandalism.
Day and night they go about it upon the walls thereof: mischief also and sorrow are in the midst of it.Elles en font le tour, jour et nuit, sur ses murailles; la ruine et le tourment sont au milieu d'elle. There is too much crime in the streets. People are lying and cheating everywhere.
Wickedness is in the midst thereof: deceit and guile depart not from her streets. If it were an enemy insulting me, I could bear it. If it were my enemies attacking me, I could hide.
For it was not an enemy that reproached me; then I could have borne it: neither was it he that hated me that did magnify himself against me; then I would have hid myself from him:Car ce n'est pas un ennemi qui m'outrage, je pourrais le supporter; mon adversaire n'est pas celui qui me haïssait, je me cacherais loin de lui.But it is you, my companion, my colleague, my friend. You are giving me troubles.
But it was thou, a man mine equal, my guide, and mine acquaintance. We used to share our secrets with one another, as we walked through the crowds together in God’s temple.
We took sweet counsel together, and walked unto the house of God in company. I wish death would take my enemies by surprise! I wish the earth would open up and swallow them alive! Why? Because they plan such terrible things together.
Let death seize upon them, and let them go down quick into hell: for wickedness is in their dwellings, and among them. I will call to God for help. And the Lord will answer me.
As for me, I will call upon God; and the LORD shall save me.Mais moi, je crierai à Dieu, et l'Éternel me sauvera.I speak to God evening, morning, and noon. I tell him what upsets me, and he listens to me!
Evening, and morning, and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud: and he shall hear my voice.Le soir, et le matin, et à midi, je crierai et je gémirai, et il entendra ma voix.I have fought in many battles. But God has always rescued me and brought me back safely.
He hath delivered my soul in peace from the battle that was against me: for there were many with me.Il mettra mon âme en paix, la délivrant de la guerre qu'on lui fait, car j'ai affaire à beaucoup de gens.God listens to me. The Eternal King will help me. SELAH
God shall hear, and afflict them, even he that abideth of old. Selah. Because they have no changes, therefore they fear not God.Dieu l'entendra, et il les humiliera, lui qui règne de tout temps (Sélah); parce qu'il n'y a point en eux de changement, et qu'ils ne craignent point Dieu.My enemies will not change their lives. They don’t fear and respect God.
He hath put forth his hands against such as be at peace with him: he hath broken his covenant. My enemies attack their own friends. They don’t do the things they agree to do.
The words of his mouth were smoother than butter, but war was in his heart: his words were softer than oil, yet were they drawn swords. My enemies are really smooth talkers; they talk about peace, but they are really planning wars. Their words are as slick as oil, but those words cut like a knife.
Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.Décharge-toi de ton fardeau sur l'Éternel, et il te soutiendra; il ne permettra jamais que le juste soit ébranlé.Give your worries to the Lord, and he will care for you. The Lord will never let good people be defeated.
But thou, O God, shalt bring them down into the pit of destruction: bloody and deceitful men shall not live out half their days; but I will trust in thee. As your part of the agreement, God, send those liars and murderers to their grave before their life is half finished! As my part of the agreement, I will put my trust in you.
