Why boastest thou thyself in mischief, O mighty man? The lovingkindness of God [endureth] continually.Big man, why do you brag about the bad things you do? You are a continual disgrace to God.
Thy tongue deviseth very wickedness, Like a sharp razor, working deceitfully. You make foolish plans and your tongue is as dangerous as a sharp razor. You are always lying and trying to cheat people!
Sélah (pause).Thou lovest evil more than good, And lying rather than to speak righteousness. SelahYou love evil more than goodness. You love lying more than telling the truth. SELAH
Thou lovest all devouring words, thou deceitful tongue. You and your lying tongue love to hurt people.
(Sélah.)God will likewise destroy thee for ever; He will take thee up, and pluck thee out of thy tent, And root thee out of the land of the living. SelahSo God will ruin you forever! He will grab you and pull you from your home, like a person pulling a plant out of the ground, roots and all!
Les justes le verront, et ils craindront; et ils se riront de lui:The righteous also shall see [it], and fear, And shall laugh at him, [saying],Good people will see this and will learn to fear and respect God. They will laugh at you and say,
Lo, this is the man that made not God his strength, But trusted in the abundance of his riches, And strengthened himself in his wickedness.Look what happened to the man who did not depend on God. That man thought his wealth and lies would protect him.
But as for me, I am like a green olive-tree in the house of God: I trust in the lovingkindness of God for ever and ever. But I am like a green olive tree growing in God’s temple. I will trust God’s true love forever and ever.
I will give thee thanks for ever, because thou hast done it; And I will hope in thy name, for it is good, in the presence of thy saints. Psalm 53 For the Chief Musician; set to Mahalath. Maschil of David.God, I praise you forever for the things you have done. I will speak your name before your followers because it is so good!
