Hear this, all ye peoples; Give ear, all ye inhabitants of the world,To the director. A song from the Korah family. Listen to this all you nations. Listen to this all you people on earth.
Both low and high, Rich and poor together.Every person, poor and rich alike, should listen.
My mouth shall speak wisdom; And the meditation of my heart shall be of understanding.I will tell you some very wise and intelligent things.
Je vais prêter l'oreille aux discours sentencieux; j'expose mon énigme au son de la harpe.I will incline mine ear to a parable: I will open my dark saying upon the harp.I myself listened to the stories. And now, with my harp, I will sing and reveal that message to you.
Wherefore should I fear in the days of evil, When iniquity at my heels compasseth me about? Why should I be afraid if trouble comes. There is no need to be afraid if evil people surround me and try to trap me.
They that trust in their wealth, And boast themselves in the multitude of their riches; Some people think their strength and wealth will protect them. But those people are fools.
None [of them] can by any means redeem his brother, Nor give to God a ransom for him;No human friend can save you. And you can’t bribe God.
Car le rachat de leur âme est trop cher, et il ne se fera jamais,(For the redemption of their life is costly, And it faileth for ever;)No person will ever get enough money to buy his own life.
That he should still live alway, That he should not see corruption. No person will ever get enough money to buy the right to live forever, and to save his own body from rotting in the grave.
For he shall see it. Wise men die; The fool and the brutish alike perish, And leave their wealth to others.Look, wise people die the same as fools and stupid people. They die and leave their wealth to other people.
Their inward thought is, [that] their houses [shall continue] for ever, [And] their dwelling-places to all generations; They call their lands after their own names. The grave will be their new home forever and ever. And how much land they owned won’t make any difference!
But man [being] in honor abideth not: He is like the beasts that perish.People might be wealthy, but they can’t stay here forever. They will die just like the animals.
This their way is their folly: Yet after them men approve their sayings. SelahThat is what happens to those foolish people who are so pleased with their wealth. SELAH
They are appointed as a flock for Sheol; Death shall be their shepherd; And the upright shall have dominion over them in the morning; And their beauty shall be for Sheol to consume, That there be no habitation for it.Those people are just like sheep. The grave will be their pen. Death will be their shepherd. Then on that morning the good people will be the winners as the bodies of those proud people slowly rot in the grave, far away from their fancy houses.
(Sélah.)But God will redeem my soul from the power of Sheol; For he will receive me. SelahBut God will pay the price and save my life. He will save me from the power of the grave when he takes me to be with him! SELAH
Be not thou afraid when one is made rich, When the glory of his house is increased.Don’t be afraid of people just because they are rich. Don’t be afraid of people just because they have big fancy houses.
For when he dieth he shall carry nothing away; His glory shall not descend after him. Those people won’t take a thing with them when they die. They will not take any of those beautiful things with them.
Que dans sa vie il rende son âme heureuse, qu'on te loue parce que tu te fais du bien,Though while he lived he blessed his soul (And men praise thee, when thou doest well to thyself,)A wealthy person might really congratulate himself on how well he has done in life. And yes, even other people might praise him for how well he had done for himself.
He shall go to the generation of his fathers; They shall never see the light. But the time will come for him to die and go to his ancestors. And he will never again see the light of day.
Man that is in honor, and understandeth not, Is like the beasts that perish. Psalm 50 A Psalm of Asaph.People might be wealthy, and still not understand. They will die just like the animals.
