As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God.Au maître-chantre. To the director. A maskil from the Korah family. A deer gets thirsty for water from a stream. In the same way, my soul is thirsty for you, God.
My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God: when shall I come and appear before God?Mon âme a soif de Dieu, du Dieu vivant; quand entrerai-je et me présenterai-je devant la face de Dieu?My soul is thirsty for the Living God. When can I go to meet with him?
My tears have been my meat day and night, while they continually say unto me, Where is thy God?Les larmes sont devenues mon pain jour et nuit, pendant qu'on me dit sans cesse: Où est ton Dieu?My enemy constantly makes fun of me. He says, Where is your God? Has he come to save you yet?] I am so sad that my only food is the tears that fall from my eyes.
When I remember these things, I pour out my soul in me: for I had gone with the multitude, I went with them to the house of God, with the voice of joy and praise, with a multitude that kept holyday. My heart breaks as I remember the good times I had at the temple: I remember passing through the crowds as I led them all up to God’s temple. I remember the happy songs of praise as the crowds celebrated the festivals.
Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted in me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him for the help of his countenance. Why should I be so sad? Why should I be so upset? I should wait for God’s help. I will get the chance to praise him yet. He will save me!
O my God, my soul is cast down within me: therefore will I remember thee from the land of Jordan, and of the Hermonites, from the hill Mizar. My God, I am so sad because I must remember you from this place, from this small hill where the Hermon mountains and the Jordan River meet.
Deep calleth unto deep at the noise of thy waterspouts: all thy waves and thy billows are gone over me.Un abîme appelle un autre abîme au bruit de tes torrents; toutes tes vagues, tous tes flots ont passé sur moi.I hear the crashing of the water as water from deep in the earth spills over the waterfall. Lord, your waves are crashing all around me and washing over me!
Yet the LORD will command his lovingkindness in the day time, and in the night his song shall be with me, and my prayer unto the God of my life.De jour, l'Éternel enverra sa grâce, et de nuit son cantique sera dans ma bouche; je prierai le Dieu qui est ma vie;Every day the Lord shows his true love and every night, I have a song for him, a prayer for my Living God.
I will say unto God my rock, Why hast thou forgotten me? why go I mourning because of the oppression of the enemy?Je dirai à Dieu, mon rocher: Pourquoi m'as-tu oublié? Pourquoi marcherai-je en deuil, sous l'oppression de l'ennemi?I speak to God, my Rock, I say, Lord, why did you forget me? Why must I suffer such sadness because of the cruelty of my enemy?
As with a sword in my bones, mine enemies reproach me; while they say daily unto me, Where is thy God?Mes os se brisent, quand mes ennemis m'outragent, disant chaque jour: Où est ton Dieu?My enemy constantly insults me and strikes a deadly blow when he asks me, Where is your God? Has he come to save you yet?
Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God.Pourquoi t'abats-tu, mon âme, et pourquoi frémis-tu en moi? Why should I be so sad? Why should I be so upset? I should wait for God’s help. I will get the chance to praise him yet. He will save me!
