Plead my cause, O LORD, with them that strive with me: fight against them that fight against me.Psaume de David. Éternel, défends-moi contre mes adversaires; combats ceux qui me combattent!David’s song Lord, fight my battles. Fight my wars!
Take hold of shield and buckler, and stand up for mine help. Lord, pick up the shield and buckler. Get up and help me.
Draw out also the spear, and stop the way against them that persecute me: say unto my soul, I am thy salvation. Take a spear and javelin and fight the people that are chasing me. Lord, tell my soul, I will save you.
Let them be confounded and put to shame that seek after my soul: let them be turned back and brought to confusion that devise my hurt. Some people are trying to kill me. Disappoint them and make them ashamed. Make them turn and run away. Those people are planning to hurt me. Defeat them and embarrass them.
Let them be as chaff before the wind: and let the angel of the LORD chase them. Make those people be like chaff blown by the wind. Let them be chased by the Lord’s angel.
Let their way be dark and slippery: and let the angel of the LORD persecute them. Lord, make their road dark and slippery. Let the Lord’s angel chase them.
For without cause have they hid for me their net in a pit, which without cause they have digged for my soul. I did nothing wrong, but those people tried to trap me. For no reason at all, they tried to trap me.
Let destruction come upon him at unawares; and let his net that he hath hid catch himself: into that very destruction let him fall.Qu'une ruine imprévue l'atteigne! Qu'il soit pris au filet qu'il a caché! Qu'il y tombe et qu'il périsse! So, Lord, let them fall into their own traps. Let them stumble into their own nets. Let some unknown danger catch them.
And my soul shall be joyful in the LORD: it shall rejoice in his salvation. Then I will rejoice in the Lord. I will be happy when he saves me.
All my bones shall say, LORD, who is like unto thee, which deliverest the poor from him that is too strong for him, yea, the poor and the needy from him that spoileth him? With my whole self I will say, Lord, there is no one like you. You save a poor person from people that are stronger. You take things from strong people, and you give those things to that poor, helpless person.
False witnesses did rise up; they laid to my charge things that I knew not. A group of witnesses are planning to hurt me. Those people will ask me questions that I know nothing about.
They rewarded me evil for good to the spoiling of my soul. I have done only good things. But those people will do bad things to me. Lord, give me the good things I deserve.
But as for me, when they were sick, my clothing was sackcloth: I humbled my soul with fasting; and my prayer returned into mine own bosom. When those people were sick, I was sad for them. I showed my sadness by not eating. Is this what I get for praying for them?
I behaved myself as though he had been my friend or brother: I bowed down heavily, as one that mourneth for his mother. I wore clothes of sadness for those people. I treated those people like my friends or even like brothers. I was sad, like a man crying because his mother had died. I wore black clothes to show my sadness for those people. I walked with my head bowed in sadness.
But in mine adversity they rejoiced, and gathered themselves together: yea, the abjects gathered themselves together against me, and I knew it not; they did tear me, and ceased not:Mais quand j'ai chancelé, ils se sont rassemblés joyeux; ils se sont rassemblés, me frappant à mon insu, me déchirant sans cesse. But when I made a mistake, those people laughed at me. Those people were not really friends. I didn’t even know them. But they surrounded me and attacked me.
With hypocritical mockers in feasts, they gnashed upon me with their teeth. They used bad language and made fun of me. Those people showed they were angry at me by grinding their teeth.
Lord, how long wilt thou look on? rescue my soul from their destructions, my darling from the lions. My Master, how long will you watch these bad things happen? Those people are trying to destroy me. Lord, save my life. Save my dear life from those bad people. They are like lions.
I will give thee thanks in the great congregation: I will praise thee among much people. Lord, I will praise you in the great assembly. I will praise you when I am with the powerful people.
Let not them that are mine enemies wrongfully rejoice over me: neither let them wink with the eye that hate me without a cause. My lying enemies will not keep laughing. Surely my enemies will be punished for their secret plans.
For they speak not peace: but they devise deceitful matters against them that are quiet in the land. My enemies are not really making plans for peace. They are secretly making plans to do bad things to the peaceful people in this country.
Yea, they opened their mouth wide against me, and said, Aha, aha, our eye hath seen it.Ils ont ouvert contre moi leur bouche, disant: Ah! ah! notre oeil a vu!My enemies are saying bad things about me. They tell lies and say, Aha! We know what you are doing!
This thou hast seen, O LORD: keep not silence: O Lord, be not far from me.Tu l'as vu, Éternel; ne te tais point!Lord, surely you can see what is happening. So don’t keep quiet. Don’t leave me.
Stir up thyself, and awake to my judgment, even unto my cause, my God and my Lord.Seigneur, ne sois pas loin de moi! Réveille-toi, lève-toi pour me faire droit, mon Dieu, mon Seigneur, pour défendre ma cause!Lord, wake up! Get up! My God and my Lord, fight for me, and bring me justice.
Judge me, O LORD my God, according to thy righteousness; and let them not rejoice over me.Juge-moi selon ta justice, Éternel mon Dieu, et qu'ils ne se réjouissent point de moi!Lord my God, judge me with your fairness. Don’t let those people laugh at me.
Let them not say in their hearts, Ah, so would we have it: let them not say, We have swallowed him up.Qu'ils ne disent pas en leur coeur: Ah! notre âme est contente! Don’t let those people say, Aha! We got what we wanted! Lord, don’t let them say, We destroyed him!
Let them be ashamed and brought to confusion together that rejoice at mine hurt: let them be clothed with shame and dishonour that magnify themselves against me.Qu'ils soient honteux et confus, tous ceux qui se réjouissent de mon mal! Qu'ils soient revêtus de honte et de confusion, ceux qui s'élèvent fièrement contre moi!I hope that all my enemies will be ashamed and embarrassed. Those people were happy when bad things happened to me. They thought they were better than me! So let those people be covered with shame and humiliation.
Let them shout for joy, and be glad, that favour my righteous cause: yea, let them say continually, Let the LORD be magnified, which hath pleasure in the prosperity of his servant. Some people want good things to happen to me. I hope those people will be very happy! Those people always say, The Lord is great! He wants what is best for his servant.
And my tongue shall speak of thy righteousness and of thy praise all the day long. So Lord, I tell people how good you are. I praise you every day.
