Jehovah, I have called upon thee; make haste unto me: Give ear unto my voice, when I call unto thee.Salmo di Davide. O EternoOne of David’s songs of praise. Lord, I call to you for help. Listen to me while I pray to you. Hurry and help me!
Let my prayer be set forth as incense before thee; The lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice. Lord, accept my prayer. Let it be like a gift of burning incense. Let it be like the evening sacrifice.
Set a watch, O Jehovah, before my mouth; Keep the door of my lips.O Eterno, poni una guardia davanti alla mia bocca.Lord, help me control the things I say. Help me watch what I say.
Incline not my heart to any evil thing, To practise deeds of wickedness With men that work iniquity: And let me not eat of their dainties. Don’t let me want to do bad things. Stop me from joining bad people when they do wrong. Don’t let me share the things those bad people enjoy doing.
Let the righteous smite me, [it shall be] a kindness; And let him reprove me, [it shall be as] oil upon the head; Let not my head refuse it: For even in their wickedness shall my prayer continue. A good person can correct me. That would be kind of him. Your followers can criticize me. It would be good for them to do that. I would accept that. But I will always pray against the bad things those bad people do.
Their judges are thrown down by the sides of the rock; And they shall hear my words; for they are sweet.I loro principi sono stati precipitati dai dirupi, ed essi daranno ascolto alle mie parole, perché sono piacevoli.Let their rulers be punished. Then people will know I spoke the truth.
As when one ploweth and cleaveth the earth, Our bones are scattered at the mouth of Sheol. People dig and plow the ground. And spread the dirt around. In the same way, our bones will be spread around in their grave.
For mine eyes are unto thee, O Jehovah the Lord: In thee do I take refuge; leave not my soul destitute. Lord my Master, I look to you for help. I trust you. Please don’t let me die.
Keep me from the snare which they have laid for me, And from the gins of the workers of iniquity. Bad people set traps for me. Don’t let me fall into their traps. Don’t let them trap me.
Let the wicked fall into their own nets, Whilst that I withal escape. Psalm 142 Maschil of David, when he was in the cave; a Prayer. Let wicked people fall into their own trap, while I walk away unharmed.
