Praise ye Jehovah. Blessed is the man that feareth Jehovah, That delighteth greatly in his commandments.Praise the Lord! A person who fears and respects the Lord will be very happy. That person loves God’s commands.
His seed shall be mighty upon earth: The generation of the upright shall be blessed. His descendants will be great on earth. The descendants of good people will be truly blessed.
Wealth and riches are in his house; And his righteousness endureth for ever. That person’s family will be very rich. And his goodness will continue forever.
Unto the upright there ariseth light in the darkness: [He is] gracious, and merciful, and righteous. To good people, God is like a light shining in the dark. God is good and kind and merciful.
Well is it with the man that dealeth graciously and lendeth; He shall maintain his cause in judgment. It is good for a person to be kind and generous. It is good for a person to be fair in his business.
For he shall never be moved; The righteous shall be had in everlasting remembrance. That person will never fall. A good person will be remembered forever.
He shall not be afraid of evil tidings: His heart is fixed, trusting in Jehovah. He will not be afraid of bad news. That person is confident because he trusts the Lord.
His heart is established, he shall not be afraid, Until he see [his desire] upon his adversaries. That person is confident. He will not be afraid. He will defeat his enemies.
He hath dispersed, he hath given to the needy; His righteousness endureth for ever: His horn shall be exalted with honor. That person freely gives things to poor people. And his goodness will continue forever.
The wicked shall see it, and be grieved; He shall gnash with his teeth, and melt away: The desire of the wicked shall perish. Psalm 113Wicked people see this and become angry. They will grind their teeth in anger, but then they disappear. Wicked people will not get what they want most.
