Hold not thy peace, O God of my praise;Au maître-chantre. Psaume de David. To the director. One of David’s songs of praise. God, don’t close your ears to my prayer!
For the mouth of the wicked and the mouth of the deceitful are opened against me: they have spoken against me with a lying tongue.O Dieu de ma louange, ne te tais point! Wicked people are telling lies about me. They are saying things that are not true.
They compassed me about also with words of hatred; and fought against me without a cause. People are saying hateful things about me. People are attacking me for no reason.
For my love they are my adversaries: but I give myself unto prayer.En retour de mon amour, ils se font mes adversaires; moi, je ne fais que prier.I loved them, but they hate me. So now, I am praying to you, God.
And they have rewarded me evil for good, and hatred for my love. I did good things to those people, but they are doing bad things to me. I loved them, but they hated me.
Set thou a wicked man over him: and let Satan stand at his right hand.Établis sur lui un méchant, et qu'un adversaire se tienne à sa droite!Punish my enemy for the bad things he did. Find a person to prove he is wrong.
When he shall be judged, let him be condemned: and let his prayer become sin. Let the judge decide my enemy did wrong and that he is guilty. Let everything my enemy says only make things worse for him.
Let his days be few; and let another take his office. Let my enemy die soon. Let another person have his job.
Let his children be fatherless, and his wife a widow. Make my enemy’s children orphans and his wife a widow.
Let his children be continually vagabonds, and beg: let them seek their bread also out of their desolate places. Let them lose their home and become beggars.
Let the extortioner catch all that he hath; and let the strangers spoil his labour. Let the people my enemy owes money to take everything he owns. Let strangers take everything he worked for.
Let there be none to extend mercy unto him: neither let there be any to favour his fatherless children. I hope no person is kind to my enemy. I hope no person shows mercy to his children.
Let his posterity be cut off; and in the generation following let their name be blotted out. Destroy my enemy completely. Let the next generation remove his name from everything.
Let the iniquity of his fathers be remembered with the LORD; and let not the sin of his mother be blotted out.Que l'iniquité de ses pères revienne en mémoire devant l'Éternel, et que le péché de sa mère ne soit point effacé;I hope the Lord is reminded of the sins of my enemy’s father. And I hope his mother’s sins are never erased.
Let them be before the LORD continually, that he may cut off the memory of them from the earth.Qu'ils soient toujours devant l'Éternel, et qu'il retranche leur mémoire de la terre;I hope the Lord remembers those sins forever. And I hope he forces people to forget my enemy completely.
Because that he remembered not to shew mercy, but persecuted the poor and needy man, that he might even slay the broken in heart. Why? Because that evil man never did anything good. He never loved anyone He made life hard for poor, helpless people.
As he loved cursing, so let it come unto him: as he delighted not in blessing, so let it be far from him. That evil man loved to ask for bad things to happen to other people. So let those bad things happen to him. That evil man never asked for good things to happen to people. So don’t let good things happen to him.
As he clothed himself with cursing like as with his garment, so let it come into his bowels like water, and like oil into his bones. Let curses be his clothes. Let curses be the water he drinks. Let curses be the oil on his body.
Let it be unto him as the garment which covereth him, and for a girdle wherewith he is girded continually. Let curses be the clothes they wrap around that evil man. And let curses be the belt around his waist.
Let this be the reward of mine adversaries from the LORD, and of them that speak evil against my soul.Tel sera, de la part de l'Éternel, le salaire de mes adversaires, et de ceux qui disent du mal contre moi.I hope the Lord does all those things to my enemy. I hope the Lord does those things to the people who are trying to kill me.
But do thou for me, O GOD the Lord, for thy name's sake: because thy mercy is good, deliver thou me.Mais toi, Éternel mon Dieu, agis en ma faveur, à cause de ton nom; selon la grandeur de ta bonté, délivre-moi!Lord, you are my Master. So treat me in a way that brings honor to your name. You have such great love, so save me.
For I am poor and needy, and my heart is wounded within me.Car je suis affligé et misérable, et mon coeur est blessé au-dedans de moi.I am only a poor, helpless man. I am truly sad, my heart is broken.
I am gone like the shadow when it declineth: I am tossed up and down as the locust. I feel like my life is over, like long shadows at the end of a day. I feel like a bug someone brushed away.
My knees are weak through fasting; and my flesh faileth of fatness. My knees are weak because I am hungry. I am losing weight and becoming thin.
I became also a reproach unto them: when they looked upon me they shaked their heads. Bad people insult me. They look at me and shake their heads.
Help me, O LORD my God: O save me according to thy mercy:Sois-moi en aide, Éternel mon Dieu!Lord my God, help me! Show your true love and save me!
That they may know that this is thy hand; that thou, LORD, hast done it.Sauve-moi selon ta bonté, afin qu'ils sachent que c'est ta main, que c'est toi, Éternel, qui l'as fait. Then those people will know that you helped me. Then they will know that it was your power that helped me.
Let them curse, but bless thou: when they arise, let them be ashamed; but let thy servant rejoice. Those bad people curse me, but you can bless me, Lord. They attacked me, so defeat them. Then I, your servant, will be happy.
Let mine adversaries be clothed with shame, and let them cover themselves with their own confusion, as with a mantle. Embarrass my enemies! Let them wear their shame like a coat.
I will greatly praise the LORD with my mouth; yea, I will praise him among the multitude.Ma bouche louera hautement l'Éternel; je le célébrerai au milieu de la multitude.I thank the Lord. I praise him in front of many people.
For he shall stand at the right hand of the poor, to save him from those that condemn his soul. Why? Because the Lord stands by helpless people. God saves them from other people who try to condemn them to death.
