O give thanks unto the LORD, for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.Célébrez l'Éternel, car il est bon, car sa miséricorde demeure à toujours!Thank the Lord, because he is good! His love is forever!
Let the redeemed of the LORD say so, whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy;Qu'ainsi disent les rachetés de l'Éternel, ceux qu'il a rachetés de la main de l'oppresseur,That is what every person that the Lord has saved should say. The Lord saved them from their enemy.
And gathered them out of the lands, from the east, and from the west, from the north, and from the south. The Lord gathered his people together from many different countries. He brought them from east and west, north and south.
They wandered in the wilderness in a solitary way; they found no city to dwell in.Ils erraient par le désert, dans un chemin solitaire; ils ne trouvaient point de ville habitable. Some of them wandered in the dry desert. They were looking for a place to live, but they could not find a city.
Hungry and thirsty, their soul fainted in them. They were hungry and thirsty and growing weak.
Then they cried unto the LORD in their trouble, and he delivered them out of their distresses. Then they called to the Lord for help. And he saved them from their troubles.
And he led them forth by the right way, that they might go to a city of habitation. God led those people straight to the city where they would live.
Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men! Thank the Lord for his love, and for the amazing things he does for people.
For he satisfieth the longing soul, and filleth the hungry soul with goodness. God satisfies the thirsty soul. God fills the hungry soul with good things.
Such as sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, being bound in affliction and iron;Ceux qui habitaient les ténèbres et l'ombre de la mort, retenus dans l'affliction et dans les fers,Some of God’s people were prisoners, locked behind bars in dark, dark prisons.
Because they rebelled against the words of God, and contemned the counsel of the most High:Pour avoir été rebelles aux paroles de Dieu, et avoir méprisé le conseil du Très-Haut;Why? Because those people fought against the things God said. They refused to listen to the advice from God Most-High.
Therefore he brought down their heart with labour; they fell down, and there was none to help. God made life hard for those people because of the things they did. They stumbled and fell, and there was no person to help them.
Then they cried unto the LORD in their trouble, and he saved them out of their distresses. Those people were in trouble, so they called to the Lord for help. And he saved them from their troubles.
He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death, and brake their bands in sunder. God took them out of their dark prisons. God broke the ropes they were tied with.
Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men! Thank the Lord for his love, and for the amazing things he does for people.
For he hath broken the gates of brass, and cut the bars of iron in sunder. God helps us defeat our enemies. God can break down their bronze gates. God can shatter the iron bars on their gates.
Fools because of their transgression, and because of their iniquities, are afflicted. Some people let their sins and guilt change them into foolish people.
Their soul abhorreth all manner of meat; and they draw near unto the gates of death. Those people refused to eat, and they almost died.
Then they cry unto the LORD in their trouble, and he saveth them out of their distresses. They were in trouble, so they called to the Lord for help. And he saved them from their troubles.
He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions. God gave the command and healed them. So those people were saved from the grave.
Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men! Thank the Lord for his love and for the amazing things he does for people.
And let them sacrifice the sacrifices of thanksgiving, and declare his works with rejoicing. Offer sacrifices to the Lord to thank him for all he did. Gladly tell what the Lord has done.
They that go down to the sea in ships, that do business in great waters;Ceux qui descendent sur la mer dans des navires, et qui trafiquent sur les grandes eaux,Some people sailed in boats across the sea. Their job carried them across the great sea.
These see the works of the LORD, and his wonders in the deep. Those people saw what the Lord can do. They saw the amazing things he did at sea.
For he commandeth, and raiseth the stormy wind, which lifteth up the waves thereof. God gave the command, and a strong wind began to blow. The waves became higher and higher.
They mount up to the heaven, they go down again to the depths: their soul is melted because of trouble. The waves lifted them high in the sky and dropped them into the deep sea. The storm was so dangerous the men lost their courage.
They reel to and fro, and stagger like a drunken man, and are at their wit's end. They were stumbling and falling like drunk men. Their skill as sailors was useless.
Then they cry unto the LORD in their trouble, and he bringeth them out of their distresses. They were in trouble, so they called to the Lord for help. And he saved them from their troubles.
He maketh the storm a calm, so that the waves thereof are still. God stopped the storm. He calmed the waves.
Then are they glad because they be quiet; so he bringeth them unto their desired haven. The sailors were happy that the sea was calm. And God led them safely to the place they wanted to go.
Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men! Thank the Lord for his love, and for the amazing things he does for people.
Let them exalt him also in the congregation of the people, and praise him in the assembly of the elders. Praise God in the great assembly. Praise him when the older leaders meet together.
He turneth rivers into a wilderness, and the watersprings into dry ground;Il change les fleuves en désert, et les sources d'eaux en un sol aride;God changed rivers into a desert. God stopped springs from flowing.
A fruitful land into barrenness, for the wickedness of them that dwell therein. God changed the fertile land and it became worthless salty land. Why? Because of the bad people who were living in that place.
He turneth the wilderness into a standing water, and dry ground into watersprings. God changed the desert and it became a land with pools of water. God caused springs of water to flow from dry ground.
And there he maketh the hungry to dwell, that they may prepare a city for habitation;Il y fait habiter ceux qui étaient affamés; et ils fondent une ville pour l'habiter.God led hungry people to that good land. And they built a city to live in.
And sow the fields, and plant vineyards, which may yield fruits of increase. Those people planted seeds in their fields. They planted grapes in the field. And they had a good harvest.
He blesseth them also, so that they are multiplied greatly; and suffereth not their cattle to decrease. God blessed those people. Their families grew. They had many, many animals.
Again, they are minished and brought low through oppression, affliction, and sorrow. Because of disaster and troubles, their families were small and weak.
He poureth contempt upon princes, and causeth them to wander in the wilderness, where there is no way. God shamed and embarrassed their leaders. God let them wander through the desert where there are no roads.
Yet setteth he the poor on high from affliction, and maketh him families like a flock. But then God rescued those poor people from their misery. And now their families are large, like flocks of sheep.
The righteous shall see it, and rejoice: and all iniquity shall stop her mouth. Good people see this, and they are happy. But wicked people see this, and they don’t know what to say.
Whoso is wise, and will observe these things, even they shall understand the lovingkindness of the LORD.Que celui qui est sage prenne garde à ces choses, et considère les bontés de l'Éternel. If a person is wise, he will remember these things. Then he will begin to understand what God’s love really is.
