Praise ye the LORD. O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever. Praise the Lord! Thank the Lord because he is good! God’s love is forever!
Who can utter the mighty acts of the LORD? who can shew forth all his praise? No person can describe how great the Lord really is. No person can praise God enough.
Blessed are they that keep judgment, and he that doeth righteousness at all times. People who obey God’s commands are happy. Those people do good things all the time.
Remember me, O LORD, with the favour that thou bearest unto thy people: O visit me with thy salvation;Éternel, souviens-toi de moi, dans ta bienveillance envers ton peuple; fais venir à moi ton salut;Lord, remember me when you are kind to your people. Remember to save me, too!
That I may see the good of thy chosen, that I may rejoice in the gladness of thy nation, that I may glory with thine inheritance. Lord, let me share in the good things you do for your chosen people. Let me rejoice with your nation. Let me join with your people in praise.
We have sinned with our fathers, we have committed iniquity, we have done wickedly. We sinned just like our ancestors sinned. We were wrong, we did bad things!
Our fathers understood not thy wonders in Egypt; they remembered not the multitude of thy mercies; but provoked him at the sea, even at the Red sea. Lord, our ancestors in Egypt learned nothing from the miracles you did. There by the Red Sea, our ancestors turned against you.
Nevertheless he saved them for his name's sake, that he might make his mighty power to be known. But God saved our ancestors for his own name’s sake. God saved them to show his great power.
He rebuked the Red sea also, and it was dried up: so he led them through the depths, as through the wilderness. God gave the command, and the Red Sea became dry. God led our ancestors through the deep sea, on land as dry as the desert.
And he saved them from the hand of him that hated them, and redeemed them from the hand of the enemy. God saved our ancestors from their enemies! God rescued them from their enemies.
And the waters covered their enemies: there was not one of them left. God covered their enemies with the sea. Not one of their enemies escaped!
Then believed they his words; they sang his praise. Then our ancestors believed God. They sang praises to him.
They soon forgat his works; they waited not for his counsel:Bientôt ils oublièrent ses oeuvres; ils ne s'attendirent point à ses desseins. But our ancestors quickly forgot about the things God did. They did not listen to God’s advice.
But lusted exceedingly in the wilderness, and tempted God in the desert. Our ancestors became hungry in the desert. And they tested God in the wilderness.
And he gave them their request; but sent leanness into their soul. But God gave our ancestors the things they asked for. But God also gave them a terrible disease.
They envied Moses also in the camp, and Aaron the saint of the LORD.Ils furent jaloux de Moïse dans le camp, et d'Aaron, le saint de l'Éternel. The people became jealous of Moses. They became jealous of Aaron, the Lord’s holy priest.
The earth opened and swallowed up Dathan and covered the company of Abiram. So God punished those jealous people. The ground opened up and swallowed Dathan. Then the ground closed up and covered Abiram’s group.
And a fire was kindled in their company; the flame burned up the wicked. Then a fire burned that mob of people. That fire burned those wicked people.
They made a calf in Horeb, and worshipped the molten image. Those people made a golden calf at Mount Horeb. They worshiped a statue!
Thus they changed their glory into the similitude of an ox that eateth grass. Those people traded their glorious God, for a statue of a grass-eating bull!
They forgat God their saviour, which had done great things in Egypt;Ils oublièrent Dieu, leur libérateur, qui avait fait de grandes choses en Égypte,God saved our ancestors. But they forgot all about him. They forgot about the God who did the miracles in Egypt.
Wondrous works in the land of Ham, and terrible things by the Red sea. God did amazing things in Ham’s country. God did awesome things near the Red Sea!
Therefore he said that he would destroy them, had not Moses his chosen stood before him in the breach, to turn away his wrath, lest he should destroy them. God wanted to destroy those people. But Moses, the man he chose, stopped him. God was very angry, but Moses blocked the way, so God did not destroy the people.
Yea, they despised the pleasant land, they believed not his word:Ils méprisèrent la terre désirable; ils ne crurent point à sa parole. But then those people refused to go into the wonderful land of Canaan. They did not believe God would help them defeat the people living in that land.
But murmured in their tents, and hearkened not unto the voice of the LORD.Ils murmurèrent dans leurs tentes; ils n'écoutèrent point la voix de l'Éternel. Our ancestors refused to obey God!
Therefore he lifted up his hand against them, to overthrow them in the wilderness:Alors il leur fit serment de les faire tomber dans le désert,So God swore that they would die in the desert.
To overthrow their seed also among the nations, and to scatter them in the lands. God promised that he would let other people defeat their descendants. God promised he would scatter our ancestors among the nations.
They joined themselves also unto Baalpeor, and ate the sacrifices of the dead. Then at Baal Peor, God’s people joined in worshiping Baal. God’s people joined in the wild parties and ate sacrifices to honor dead people.
Thus they provoked him to anger with their inventions: and the plague brake in upon them. God became very angry at his people, and God made them become very sick.
Then stood up Phinehas, and executed judgment: and so the plague was stayed. But Phinehas prayed to God, and God stopped the sickness.
And that was counted unto him for righteousness unto all generations for evermore. God knew Phinehas did a very good thing. God will remember this forever and ever.
They angered him also at the waters of strife, so that it went ill with Moses for their sakes:Ils l'irritèrent aussi près des eaux de Mériba; et il en arriva du mal à Moïse à cause d'eux. At Meribah, the people became angry. And they made Moses do something bad.
Because they provoked his spirit, so that he spake unadvisedly with his lips. Those people made Moses very upset, so Moses spoke without stopping to think.
They did not destroy the nations, concerning whom the LORD commanded them:Ils ne détruisirent pas les peuples, que l'Éternel leur avait dit de détruire. The Lord told the people to destroy the other nations living in Canaan. But the people of Israel did not obey God.
But were mingled among the heathen, and learned their works. They mixed with the other people, and did what those people were doing.
And they served their idols: which were a snare unto them. Those people became a trap to God’s people. God’s people began worshiping the gods those other people worshiped.
Yea, they sacrificed their sons and their daughters unto devils,Et ils sacrifièrent aux démons leurs fils et leurs filles.God’s people even killed their own children, and offered the children to those devils.
And shed innocent blood, even the blood of their sons and of their daughters, whom they sacrificed unto the idols of Canaan: and the land was polluted with blood. God’s people killed innocent people. They killed their own children and offered them to those false gods.
Thus were they defiled with their own works, and went a whoring with their own inventions. So God’s people became dirty with the sins of those other people. God’s people were unfaithful to their God and did the things those other people did.
Therefore was the wrath of the LORD kindled against his people, insomuch that he abhorred his own inheritance. God became angry at his people. God was fed up with them!
And he gave them into the hand of the heathen; and they that hated them ruled over them. God gave his people to other nations. God let their enemies rule over them.
Their enemies also oppressed them, and they were brought into subjection under their hand. The enemies of God’s people controlled them and made life hard for them.
Many times did he deliver them; but they provoked him with their counsel, and were brought low for their iniquity. God saved his people many times. But they turned against God and did what they wanted to do. God’s people did many, many bad things.
Nevertheless he regarded their affliction, when he heard their cry:Toutefois, il les a regardés dans leur détresse, quand il entendait leur cri.But whenever God’s people were in trouble, they always called to God for help. And God listened to their prayers every time.
And he remembered for them his covenant, and repented according to the multitude of his mercies. God always remembered his Agreement and comforted them with his great love.
He made them also to be pitied of all those that carried them captives. Other nations took them as prisoners. But God made them be kind to his people.
Save us, O LORD our God, and gather us from among the heathen, to give thanks unto thy holy name, and to triumph in thy praise. The Lord our God saved us! God brought us back from those nations so we could praise his holy name, so we could sing praises to him.
Blessed be the LORD God of Israel from everlasting to everlasting: and let all the people say, Amen. Bless the Lord God of Israel. God has always lived, and he will live forever. And all the people said, Amen! Praise the Lord!
