1O give thanks unto the LORD; call upon his name: make known his deeds among the people.Célébrez l'Éternel; invoquez son nom; faites connaître parmi les peuples ses hauts faits!Thank the Lord. Worship his name. Tell the nations about the wonderful things he does.
2Sing unto him, sing psalms unto him: talk ye of all his wondrous works.Chantez-lui, psalmodiez-lui; parlez de toutes ses merveilles!Sing to the Lord. Sing praises to him. Tell about all the amazing things he does.
3Glory ye in his holy name: let the heart of them rejoice that seek the LORD.Glorifiez-vous de son saint nom; que le coeur de ceux qui cherchent l'Éternel se réjouisse!Be proud of the Lord’s holy name. You people came looking for the Lord. Be happy!
4Seek the LORD, and his strength: seek his face evermore.Recherchez l'Éternel et sa force; cherchez continuellement sa face!Go to the Lord for strength. Always go to him for help.
5Remember his marvellous works that he hath done; his wonders, and the judgments of his mouth;Souvenez-vous des merveilles qu'il a faites, de ses miracles et des jugements de sa bouche;Remember the amazing things he does. Remember his miracles and wise decisions.
6O ye seed of Abraham his servant, ye children of Jacob his chosen.Vous, postérité d'Abraham, son serviteur, enfants de Jacob, ses élus!You are descendants of his servant Abraham. You are descendants of Jacob, the man God chose.
7He is the LORD our God: his judgments are in all the earth.C'est lui, l'Éternel, qui est notre Dieu; ses jugements sont sur toute la terre.The Lord is our God. The Lord rules the whole world.
8He hath remembered his covenant for ever, the word which he commanded to a thousand generations.Il se souvient à jamais de son alliance, de sa promesse établie pour mille générations;Remember God’s Agreement forever. Remember his commands for 1,000 generations!
9Which covenant he made with Abraham, and his oath unto Isaac;Du traité qu'il fit avec Abraham, et du serment qu'il fit à Isaac,God made an Agreement with Abraham. God made a promise to Isaac.
10And confirmed the same unto Jacob for a law, and to Israel for an everlasting covenant:Et qu'il a confirmé à Jacob pour être un statut, à Israël pour être une alliance éternelle,Then he made it a law for Jacob. God made his Agreement with Israel. It will continue forever!
11Saying, Unto thee will I give the land of Canaan, the lot of your inheritance:Disant: Je te donnerai le pays de Canaan; c'est le lot de votre héritage;God said, I will give you the land of Canaan. That land will belong to you.
12When they were but a few men in number; yea, very few, and strangers in it.Lorsqu'ils n'étaient qu'une poignée de gens, peu nombreux et étrangers dans le pays,God made that promise when Abraham’s family was small. They were only strangers spending time there.
13When they went from one nation to another, from one kingdom to another people;Allant de nation en nation, et d'un royaume vers un autre royaume.They traveled from nation to nation, from one kingdom to another.
14He suffered no man to do them wrong: yea, he reproved kings for their sakes;Il ne permit à personne de les opprimer, et il châtia des rois à cause d'eux,But God did not let people mistreat them. God warned kings not to hurt them.
15Saying, Touch not mine anointed, and do my prophets no harm.Disant: Ne touchez pas à mes oints, et ne faites point de mal à mes prophètes!God said, Don’t hurt my chosen people. Don’t do anything bad to my prophets.
16Moreover he called for a famine upon the land: he brake the whole staff of bread.Il appela sur la terre la famine, et rompit tout l'appui du pain.God caused a famine in that country. People did not have enough food to eat.
17He sent a man before them, even Joseph, who was sold for a servant:II envoya devant eux un homme; Joseph fut vendu comme esclave.But God sent a man named Joseph to go ahead of them. Joseph was sold like a slave.
18Whose feet they hurt with fetters: he was laid in iron:On lui serra les pieds dans des ceps, et sa vie fut mise dans les fers;They tied a rope around Joseph’s feet. They put an iron ring around his neck.
19Until the time that his word came: the word of the LORD tried him.Jusqu'au temps où ce qu'il avait dit arriva, où la parole de l'Éternel le fit connaître.Joseph was a slave until the things he said really happened. The Lord’s message proved that Joseph was right.
20The king sent and loosed him; even the ruler of the people, and let him go free.Le roi l'envoya délivrer; le dominateur des peuples le fit élargir.So the king of Egypt set him free. That nation’s leader let him out of jail.
21He made him lord of his house, and ruler of all his substance:Il l'établit seigneur de sa maison, et gouverneur de tous ses biens;He put Joseph in charge of his house. Joseph took care of everything he owned.
22To bind his princes at his pleasure; and teach his senators wisdom.Pour enchaîner à son gré ses princes, et enseigner à ses anciens la sagesse.Joseph gave instructions to the other leaders. Joseph taught the older men.
23Israel also came into Egypt; and Jacob sojourned in the land of Ham.Alors Israël vint en Égypte; Jacob séjourna au pays de Cham.Then Israel came to Egypt. Jacob lived in Ham’s country.
24And he increased his people greatly; and made them stronger than their enemies.Dieu fit fort multiplier son peuple, et le rendit plus puissant que ses oppresseurs.Jacob’s family became very large. They became more powerful than their enemies.
25He turned their heart to hate his people, to deal subtilly with his servants.Puis il changea leur coeur, tellement qu'ils haïrent son peuple, et agirent perfidement contre ses serviteurs.So the Egyptians began to hate Jacob’s family. They made plans against their slaves.
26He sent Moses his servant; and Aaron whom he had chosen.Il envoya Moïse, son serviteur, Aaron qu'il avait élu.So God sent his servant, Moses, and Aaron, God’s chosen priest.
27They shewed his signs among them, and wonders in the land of Ham.Ils opérèrent au milieu d'eux ses prodiges, et des miracles dans le pays de Cham.God used Moses and Aaron to do many miracles in Ham’s country.
28He sent darkness, and made it dark; and they rebelled not against his word.Il envoya des ténèbres, et produisit l'obscurité; et ils ne furent pas rebelles à sa parole.God sent the very dark darkness, but the Egyptians did not listen to him.
29He turned their waters into blood, and slew their fish.Il changea leurs eaux en sang, et fit mourir leurs poissons.So God changed the water into blood, and all their fish died.
30Their land brought forth frogs in abundance, in the chambers of their kings.Leur terre fourmilla de grenouilles, jusque dans les chambres de leurs rois.Their country was filled with frogs. Frogs were even in the king’s bedroom.
31He spake, and there came divers sorts of flies, and lice in all their coasts.Il parla, et des insectes vinrent, des moucherons dans tout leur territoire.God gave the command, and the flies and gnats came. They were everywhere!
32He gave them hail for rain, and flaming fire in their land.Il leur donna pour pluie de la grêle, des flammes de feu sur leur pays.God made the rain become hail. Lightning struck throughout their country.
33He smote their vines also and their fig trees; and brake the trees of their coasts.Il frappa leurs vignes et leurs figuiers, et brisa les arbres de leur territoire.God destroyed their vines and fig trees. God destroyed every tree in their country.
34He spake, and the locusts came, and caterpillers, and that without number,Il parla, et des sauterelles vinrent, des insectes rongeurs sans nombre,God gave the command, and the locusts and grasshoppers came. There were too many to count!
35And did eat up all the herbs in their land, and devoured the fruit of their ground.Qui dévorèrent toute l'herbe de leur pays, qui dévorèrent les fruits de leurs champs.The locusts and grasshoppers ate all the plants in the country. They ate all the crops in the fields.
36He smote also all the firstborn in their land, the chief of all their strength.Il frappa tous les premiers-nés dans leur pays, toutes les prémices de leur force.And then God killed every firstborn in their country. God killed their oldest sons.
37He brought them forth also with silver and gold: and there was not one feeble person among their tribes.Puis il les fit sortir avec de l'argent et de l'or; et dans leurs tribus il n'y eut personne qui chancelât.Then God took his people out of Egypt. They brought gold and silver with them. None of God’s people stumbled and fell.
38Egypt was glad when they departed: for the fear of them fell upon them.L'Égypte se réjouit à leur départ, car la frayeur d'Israël les avait saisis.Egypt was happy to see God’s people go, because they were afraid of God’s people.
39He spread a cloud for a covering; and fire to give light in the night.Il étendit la nuée pour les couvrir, et le feu pour les éclairer de nuit.God spread out his cloud like a blanket. God used his column of fire to give his people light at night.
40The people asked, and he brought quails, and satisfied them with the bread of heaven.A leur demande, il fit venir des cailles; et il les rassasia du pain des cieux.The people asked for food, and God brought them quail. God gave them plenty of bread from heaven.
41He opened the rock, and the waters gushed out; they ran in the dry places like a river.Il ouvrit le rocher, et les eaux coulèrent; elles coururent, par les lieux secs, comme un fleuve.God split the rock, and water came bubbling out. A river began flowing in the desert!
42For he remembered his holy promise, and Abraham his servant.Car il se souvenait de sa parole sainte, et d'Abraham, son serviteur.God remembered his holy promise. God remembered the promise he had made to his servant Abraham.
43And he brought forth his people with joy, and his chosen with gladness:Et il fit sortir son peuple avec allégresse, ses élus avec des chants de joie.God brought his people out from Egypt. The people came out rejoicing and singing their happy songs!
44And gave them the lands of the heathen: and they inherited the labour of the people;Il leur donna les terres des nations, et ils possédèrent le travail des peuples;Then God gave his people the country where other people were living. God’s people got the things other people had worked for.
45That they might observe his statutes, and keep his laws. Praise ye the LORD.Afin qu'ils gardassent ses ordonnances, et qu'ils observassent ses lois. Louez l'Éternel!Why did God do this? So his people could obey his laws. So they could carefully obey his teachings. Praise the Lord!
