| 2 | Et à Apphie notre bien-aimée, et à Archippe notre Compagnon d'armes, et à l'Eglise qui est en ta maison. | and to Apphia our sister, and to Archippus our fellow-soldier, and to the church in thy house: |
| 3 | Que la grâce et la paix vous soient données de la part de Dieu notre Père, et de la part du Seigneur Jésus-Christ. | Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. |
| 4 | Je rends grâces à mon Dieu, faisant toujours mention de toi dans mes prières; | I thank my God always, making mention of thee in my prayers, |
| 5 | Apprenant la foi que tu as au Seigneur Jésus, et ta charité envers tous les Saints. | hearing of thy love, and of the faith which thou hast toward the Lord Jesus, and toward all the saints; |
| 6 | Afin que la communication de ta foi montre son efficace, en se faisant connaître par tout le bien qui est en vous par Jésus-Christ. | that the fellowship of thy faith may become effectual, in the knowledge of every good thing which is in you, unto Christ. |
| 7 | Car, mon frère, nous avons une grande joie et une grande consolation de ta charité, en ce que tu as réjoui les entrailles des Saints. | For I had much joy and comfort in thy love, because the hearts of the saints have been refreshed through thee, brother. |
| 8 | C'est pourquoi bien que j'aie une grande liberté en Christ de te commander ce qui est de ton devoir, | Wherefore, though I have all boldness in Christ to enjoin thee that which is befitting, |
| 9 | Cependant je te prie plutôt par la charité, bien que je suis ce que je suis, savoir Paul, Ancien, et même maintenant prisonnier de Jésus-Christ; | yet for love`s sake I rather beseech, being such a one as Paul the aged, and now a prisoner also of Christ Jesus: |
| 10 | Je te prie donc pour mon fils Onésime, que j'ai engendré dans mes liens; | I beseech thee for my child, whom I have begotten in my bonds, Onesimus, |
| 11 | Qui t'a été autrefois inutile, mais qui maintenant est bien utile et à toi et à moi, et lequel je te renvoie. | who once was unprofitable to thee, but now is profitable to thee and to me: |
| 12 | Reçois-le donc, comme mes propres entrailles. | whom I have sent back to thee in his own person, that is, my very heart: |
| 13 | Je voulais le retenir auprès de moi, afin qu'il me servît à ta place, dans les liens de l'Evangile. | whom I would fain have kept with me, that in thy behalf he might minister unto me in the bonds of the gospel: |
| 14 | Mais je n'ai rien voulu faire sans ton avis, afin que ce ne fût point comme par contrainte, mais volontairement, que tu me laissasses un bien qui est à toi. | but without thy mind I would do nothing; that thy goodness should not be as of necessity, but of free will. |
| 15 | Car peut-être n'a-t-il été séparé de toi pour un temps, qu'afin que tu le recouvrasses pour toujours. | For perhaps he was therefore parted [from thee] for a season, that thou shouldest have him for ever; |
| 16 | Non plus comme un esclave, mais comme étant au-dessus d'un esclave, savoir, comme un frère bien-aimé, principalement de moi; et combien plus de toi, soit selon la chair, soit selon le Seigneur? | no longer as a servant, but more than a servant, a brother beloved, specially to me, but how much rather to thee, both in the flesh and in the Lord. |
| 17 | Si donc tu me tiens pour ton compagnon, reçois-le comme moi-même. | If then thou countest me a partner, receive him as myself. |
| 18 | Que s'il t'a fait quelque tort, ou s'il te doit quelque chose, mets-le-moi en compte. | But if he hath wronged the at all, or oweth [thee] aught, put that to mine account; |
| 19 | Moi Paul j'ai écrit ceci de ma propre main, je te le payerai; pour ne pas te dire que tu te dois toi-même à moi. | I Paul write it with mine own hand, I will repay it: that I say not unto thee that thou owest to me even thine own self besides. |
| 20 | Oui, mon frère, que je reçoive ce plaisir de toi en notre Seigneur; réjouis mes entrailles en notre Seigneur. | Yea, brother, let me have joy of thee in the Lord: refresh my heart in Christ. |
| 21 | Je t'ai écrit m'assurant de ton obéissance, et sachant que tu feras même plus que je ne te dis. | Having confidence in thine obedience I write unto thee, knowing that thou wilt do even beyond what I say. |
| 22 | Mais aussi en même temps prépare-moi un logement; car j'espère que je vous serai donné par vos prières. | But withal prepare me also a lodging: for I hope that through your prayers I shall be granted unto you. |
| 23 | Epaphras, qui est prisonnier avec moi en Jésus-Christ, te salue; | Epaphras, my fellow-prisoner in Christ Jesus, saluteth thee; |
| 24 | Marc aussi, et Aristarque, et Démas, et Luc, mes compagnons d'oeuvre. | [and so do] Mark, Aristarchus, Demas, Luke, my fellow-workers. |
| 25 | Que la grâce de notre Seigneur Jésus-Christ soit avec votre esprit, Amen! Ecrite de Rome à Philémon par Onésime Serviteur. | The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Amen. |
