| 1 | Ecoutez ceci Sacrificateurs, et vous maison d'Israël, soyez attentifs, et vous maison du Roi, prêtez l'oreille; car c est à vous de faire justice; mais vous êtes devenus comme un piège en Mitspa, et comme un rets étendu sur Tabor. | Hear this, O ye priests, and hearken, O house of Israel, and give ear, O house of the king; for unto you pertaineth the judgment; for ye have been a snare at Mizpah, and a net spread upon Tabor. |
| 2 | Et ils ont subtilement inventé les moyens d'égorger les révoltés, mais je les châtierai tous. | And the revolters are gone deep in making slaughter; but I am a rebuker of them all. |
| 3 | Je sais qui est Ephraïm, et Israël ne m'est point inconnu: car maintenant, toi, Ephraïm, tu as commis adultère, Israël est souillé. | I know Ephraim, and Israel is not hid from me; for now, O Ephraim, thou hast played the harlot, Israel is defiled. |
| 4 | Leurs déportements ne permettront point qu'ils retournent à leur Dieu, parce que l'esprit de fornication est au milieu d'eux, et ils ne connaissent point l'Eternel. | Their doings will not suffer them to turn unto their God; for the spirit of whoredom is within them, and they know not Jehovah. |
| 5 | Aussi la fierté d'Israël témoignera contre lui, et Israël et Ephraïm tomberont dans leur iniquité; Juda aussi tombera avec eux. | And the pride of Israel doth testify to his face: therefore Israel and Ephraim shall stumble in their iniquity; Judah also shall stumble with them. |
| 6 | Ils iront avec leurs brebis et leurs boeufs chercher l'Eternel, mais ils ne le trouveront point, il s'est retiré d'avec eux. | They shall go with their flocks and with their herds to seek Jehovah; but they shall not find him: he hath withdrawn himself from them. |
| 7 | Ils se sont portés infidèlement contre l'Eternel; car ils ont engendré des enfants étrangers; maintenant un mois les dévorera avec leurs biens. | They have dealt treacherously against Jehovah; for they have borne strange children: now shall the new moon devour them with their fields. |
| 8 | Sonnez du cor à Guibha, et de la trompette à Rama; sonnez avec retentissement à Bethaven; on est derrière toi, Benjamin. | Blow ye the cornet in Gibeah, and the trumpet in Ramah: sound an alarm at Beth-aven; behind thee, O Benjamin. |
| 9 | Ephraïm sera en désolation au jour de la correction; je le fais savoir parmi les Tribus d'Israël comme une chose certaine. | Ephraim shall become a desolation in the day of rebuke: among the tribes of Israel have I made known that which shall surely be. |
| 10 | Les Gouverneurs de Juda sont autant de remueurs de bornes, je répandrai sur eux ma fureur comme de l'eau. | The princes of Judah are like them that remove the landmark: I will pour out my wrath upon them like water. |
| 11 | Ephraïm est opprimé, il est brisé justement, parce que de son bon gré il est allé après le commandement. | Ephraim is oppressed, he is crushed in judgment; because he was content to walk after [man`s] command. |
| 12 | Je serai donc à Ephraïm comme la teigne, et à la maison de Juda, comme la vermoulure. | Therefore am I unto Ephraim as a moth, and to the house of Judah as rottenness. |
| 13 | Et Ephraïm a vu sa langueur, et Juda sa plaie; Ephraïm s'en est allé vers le Roi d'Assyrie, et on a envoyé vers le Roi Jareb, mais il ne vous pourra pas guérir, et il ne pansera point la plaie pour vous en délivrer. | When Ephraim saw his sickness, and Judah [saw] his wound, then went Ephraim to Assyria, and sent to king Jareb: but he is not able to heal you, neither will he cure you of your wound. |
| 14 | Car je serai comme un lion à Ephraïm, et comme un lionceau à la maison de Juda; c'est moi, c'est moi qui déchirerai, puis je m'en irai; j'emporterai la proie, et il n'y aura personne qui me l'ôte. | For I will be unto Ephraim as a lion, and as a young lion to the house of Judah: I, even I, will tear and go away; I will carry off, and there shall be none to deliver. |
| 15 | Je m'en irai, et retournerai en mon lieu, jusqu'à ce qu'ils se reconnaissent coupables, et qu'ils cherchent ma face; ils me chercheront de grand matin dans leur angoisse. | I will go and return to my place, till they acknowledge their offence, and seek my face: in their affliction they will seek me earnestly. |
