| 1 | Hear this, O ye priests, and hearken, O house of Israel, and give ear, O house of the king; for unto you pertaineth the judgment; for ye have been a snare at Mizpah, and a net spread upon Tabor. | Ascoltate questo, o sacerdoti, prestate attenzione voi della casa d'Israele, porgete l'orecchio, o casa del re, perché questo giudizio è contro di voi. Voi infatti siete stati un laccio a Mitspah e una rete tesa sul Tabor. |
| 2 | And the revolters are gone deep in making slaughter; but I am a rebuker of them all. | Quelli che si sviano sono caduti profondamente nel massacro, ma io li castigherò tutti. |
| 3 | I know Ephraim, and Israel is not hid from me; for now, O Ephraim, thou hast played the harlot, Israel is defiled. | Io conosco Efraim, e Israele non mi è affatto nascosto: ora, o Efraim, ti sei prostituito; Israele si è contaminato. |
| 4 | Their doings will not suffer them to turn unto their God; for the spirit of whoredom is within them, and they know not Jehovah. | Le loro azioni non permettono loro di tornare al loro DIO, perché lo spirito di prostituzione è in mezzo a loro e non conoscono l'Eterno. |
| 5 | And the pride of Israel doth testify to his face: therefore Israel and Ephraim shall stumble in their iniquity; Judah also shall stumble with them. | Ma l'orgoglio d'Israele testimonia contro di lui; perciò Israele ed Efraim cadranno per la loro iniquità e con loro cadrà anche Giuda. |
| 6 | They shall go with their flocks and with their herds to seek Jehovah; but they shall not find him: he hath withdrawn himself from them. | Con le loro greggi e con le loro mandrie andranno in cerca dell'Eterno, ma non lo troveranno; egli si è ritirato da loro. |
| 7 | They have dealt treacherously against Jehovah; for they have borne strange children: now shall the new moon devour them with their fields. | Hanno agito con inganno contro l'Eterno, perché hanno generato dei figli di adulterio, ora un solo mese divorerà loro e il loro paese. |
| 8 | Blow ye the cornet in Gibeah, and the trumpet in Ramah: sound an alarm at Beth-aven; behind thee, O Benjamin. | Suonate il corno in Ghibeah, suonate la tromba in Ramah, date l'allarme a Beth-aven; il nemico è alle tue spalle, o Beniamino. |
| 9 | Ephraim shall become a desolation in the day of rebuke: among the tribes of Israel have I made known that which shall surely be. | Efraim sarà devastato nel giorno della punizione; fra le tribù d'Israele io faccio conoscere una cosa certa. |
| 10 | The princes of Judah are like them that remove the landmark: I will pour out my wrath upon them like water. | I capi di Giuda sono come quelli che spostano i confini; io riverserò la mia ira su di loro come acqua. |
| 11 | Ephraim is oppressed, he is crushed in judgment; because he was content to walk after [man`s] command. | Efraim è oppresso e frantumato nel giudizio, perché ha deliberatamente seguito precetti umani. |
| 12 | Therefore am I unto Ephraim as a moth, and to the house of Judah as rottenness. | Perciò io sarò per Efraim come una tarma e per la casa di Giuda come la carie. |
| 13 | When Ephraim saw his sickness, and Judah [saw] his wound, then went Ephraim to Assyria, and sent to king Jareb: but he is not able to heal you, neither will he cure you of your wound. | Quando Efraim ha veduto la sua infermità e Giuda la sua ferita, Efraim è andato in Assiria e ha mandato messaggeri al re Jareb, tuttavia egli non può guarirvi né curarvi la piaga. |
| 14 | For I will be unto Ephraim as a lion, and as a young lion to the house of Judah: I, even I, will tear and go away; I will carry off, and there shall be none to deliver. | Poiché io sarò per Efraim come un leone e per la casa di Giuda come un leoncello; io, io stesso dilanierò e me ne andrò; porterò via la preda e nessuno me la strapperà. |
| 15 | I will go and return to my place, till they acknowledge their offence, and seek my face: in their affliction they will seek me earnestly. | Me ne ritornerò al mio luogo, finché non si riconosceranno colpevoli e cercheranno la mia faccia, nella loro avversità mi cercheranno con diligenza. |
