| 23 | Les fils de Lévi, chefs de famille, furent inscrits dans le livre des Chroniques, jusqu'au temps de Johanan, fils d'Eliasib. | The sons of Levi, heads of fathers` [houses], were written in the book of the chronicles, even until the days of Johanan the son of Eliashib. |
| 24 | Chefs des lévites : Hasébias, Sérébias et Josué, fils de Cedmiel, chargés, avec leurs frères en face d'eux, de célébrer et de louer Dieu, selon l'ordre de David, homme de Dieu, un groupe alternant avec l'autre groupe. | And the chiefs of the Levites: Hashabiah, Sherebiah, and Jeshua the son of Kadmiel, with their brethren over against them, to praise and give thanks, according to the commandment of David the man of God, watch next to watch. |
| 25 | Mathanias, Becbécias, Abdias, Mosollam, Telmon et Accub, portiers, faisaient la garde au seuil des portes. | Mattaniah, and Bakbukiah, Obadiah, Meshullam, Talmon, Akkub, were porters keeping the watch at the store-houses of the gates. |
| 26 | Ils vivaient au temps de Joakim, fils de Josué, fils de Josédec, et au temps de Néhémie, le gouverneur, et d'Esdras, le prêtre et le scribe. | These were in the days of Joiakim the son of Jeshua, the son of Jozadak, and in the days of Nehemiah the governor, and of Ezra the priest the scribe. |
| 27 | Lors de la dédicace des murailles de Jérusalem, on convoqua les lévites de tous les lieux qu'ils habitaient, pour les faire venir à Jérusalem, afin de célébrer la dédicace avec joie, avec des louanges et des chants, au son des cymbales, des cithares et des harpes. | And at the dedication of the wall of Jerusalem they sought the Levites out of all their places, to bring them to Jerusalem, to keep the dedication with gladness, both with thanksgivings, and with singing, with cymbals, psalteries, and with harps. |
| 28 | Les fils des chantres se rassemblèrent de la campagne environnant Jérusalem, des villages des Nétophatiens, de Belh-Galgal | And the sons of the singers gathered themselves together, both out of the plain round about Jerusalem, and from the villages of the Netophathites; |
| 29 | et du territoire de Géba et d'Azmaveth; car les chantres s'étaient bâti des villages aux alentours de Jérusalem. | also from Beth-gilgal, and out of the fields of Geba and Azmaveth: for the singers had builded them villages round about Jerusalem. |
| 30 | Les prêtres et les lévites, après s'être purifiés, purifièrent le peuple, les portes et la muraille. | And the priests and the Levites purified themselves; and they purified the people, and the gates, and the wall. |
| 31 | Je fis monter sur la muraille les princes de Juda, et je formai deux grands choeurs de procession. Le premier choeur se mit en marche vers le côté droit, sur la muraille, vers la porte du Fumier. | Then I brought up the princes of Judah upon the wall, and appointed two great companies that gave thanks and went in procession; [whereof one went] on the right hand upon the wall toward the dung gate: |

| 35 | des fils de prêtres avec des trompettes, Zacharie, fils de Jonathan, fils de Séméïas, fils de Mathanias, fils de Michée, fils de Zéchur, fils d'Asaph, | and certain of the priests` sons with trumpets: Zechariah the son of Jonathan, the son of Shemaiah, the son of Mattaniah, the son of Micaiah, the son of Zaccur, the son of Asaph; |

Esdras, le scribe, était devant eux. | and his brethren, Shemaiah, and Azarel, Milalai, Gilalai, Maai, Nethanel, and Judah, Hanani, with the musical instruments of David the man of God; and Ezra the scribe was before them. |
| 37 | A la porte de la Source, ils montèrent vis-à-vis d'eux les degrés de la cité de David, par la montée de la muraille, au-dessus de la maison de David, jusqu'à la porte de l'Eau, vers l'orient. | And by the fountain gate, and straight before them, they went up by the stairs of the city of David, at the ascent of the wall, above the house of David, even unto the water gate eastward. |
| 38 | Le second choeur se mit en marche du côté opposé; J'étais derrière lui, avec l'autre moitié du peuple, sur la muraille. | And the other company of them that gave thanks went to meet them, and I after them, with the half of the people, upon the wall, above the tower of the furnaces, even unto the broad wall, |
| 39 | D'au-dessus de la tour des Fourneaux, on alla jusqu'à la muraille large; puis, d'au dessus de la porte d'Ephraïm, de la Vieille porte, de la porte des Poissons, de la tour de Hananéel et de la tour de Méa, jusqu'à la porte dis Brebis ; et l'on s'arrêta à la porte de la Prison. | and above the gate of Ephraim, and by the old gate, and by the fish gate, and the tower of Hananel, and the tower of Hammeah, even unto the sheep gate: and they stood still in the gate of the guard. |

| 41 | et les prêtres Eliacim, Maasias, Miamin, Michée, Elioénaï, Zacharie, Avanie, avec des trompettes, | and the priests, Eliakim, Maaseiah, Miniamin, Micaiah, Elioenai, Zechariah, and Hananiah, with trumpets; |
| 42 | et Maasias, Séméïas, Eléazar, Azzi, Johanan, Melchias, Elam et Ezer. Et les chantres se firent entendre, avec Jezraïas, leur chef. | and Maaseiah, and Shemaiah, and Eleazar, and Uzzi, and Jehohanan, and Malchijah, and Elam, and Ezer. And the singers sang loud, with Jezrahiah their overseer. |
| 43 | Ils offrirent ce jour-là de grands sacrifices et se livrèrent aux réjouissances, car Dieu leur avait donné un grand sujet de joie. Les femmes et les enfants se réjouirent aussi, et tes cris de joie de Jérusalem furent entendus au loin. | And they offered great sacrifices that day, and rejoiced; for God had made them rejoice with great joy; and the women also and the children rejoiced: so that the joy of Jerusalem was heard even afar off. |
| 44 | En ce temps-là, on établit des hommes préposés aux chambres qui servaient de magasins pour les offrandes prélevées, les prémices et les dîmes, et on les chargea d'y recueillir, du territoire des villes, les portions assignées par la loi aux prêtres et aux lévites ; car Juda se réjouissait de voir à leur poste les prêtres et les lévites, | And on that day were men appointed over the chambers for the treasures, for the heave-offerings, for the first-fruits, and for the tithes, to gather into them, according to the fields of the cities, the portions appointed by the law for the priests and Levites: for Judah rejoiced for the priests and for the Levites that waited. |
| 45 | observant le service de leur Dieu, et le service des purifications ; et de même, les chantres et les portiers, selon l'ordonnance de David et de Salomon, son fils. | And they kept the charge of their God, and the charge of the purification, and [so did] the singers and the porters, according to the commandment of David, and of Solomon his son. |
| 46 | Car autrefois, dans les jours de David et d'Asaph, le chef des chantres, il y avait des chants de louange et d'actions de grâces en l'honneur de Dieu. | For in the days of David and Asaph of old there was a chief of the singers, and songs of praise and thanksgiving unto God. |
| 47 | Tout Israël, dans les jours de Zorobabel et de Néhémie, donnait jour par jour les portions des chantres et des portiers ; on donnait aux lévites les saintes offrandes, et les lévites en donnaient leur part aux fils d'Aaron. | And all Israel in the days of Zerubbabel, and in the days of Nehemiah, gave the portions of the singers and the porters, as every day required: and they set apart [that which was] for the Levites; and the Levites set apart [that which was] for the sons of Aaron. |
