| 1 | Car le Royaume des cieux est semblable à un père de famille, qui sortit dès le point du jour afin de louer des ouvriers pour sa vigne. | For the kingdom of heaven is like unto a man that was a householder, who went out early in the morning to hire laborers into his vineyard. |
| 2 | Et quand il eut accordé avec les ouvriers à un denier par jour, il les envoya à sa vigne. | And when he had agreed with the laborers for a shilling a day, he sent them into his vineyard. |
| 3 | Puis étant sorti sur les trois heures, il en vit d'autres qui étaient au marché, sans rien faire; | And he went out about the third hour, and saw others standing in the marketplace idle; |
| 4 | Auxquels il dit: allez-vous-en aussi à ma vigne, et je vous donnerai ce qui sera raisonnable. | and to them he said, Go ye also into the vineyard, and whatsoever is right I will give you. And they went their way. |
| 5 | Et ils y allèrent. Puis il sortit encore environ sur les six heures, et sur les neuf heures, et il en fit de même. | Again he went out about the sixth and the ninth hour, and did likewise. |
| 6 | Et étant sorti sur les onze heures, il en trouva d'autres qui étaient sans rien faire, auxquels il dit: pourquoi vous tenez-vous ici tout le jour sans rien faire? | And about the eleventh [hour] he went out, and found others standing; and he saith unto them, Why stand ye here all the day idle? |
| 7 | Ils lui répondirent: parce que personne ne nous a loués. Et il leur dit: allez-vous-en aussi à ma vigne, et vous recevrez ce qui sera raisonnable. | They say unto him, Because no man hath hired us. He saith unto them, Go ye also into the vineyard. |
| 8 | Et le soir étant venu, le maître de la vigne dit à celui qui avait la charge de ses affaires: appelle les ouvriers, et leur paye leur salaire, en commençant depuis les derniers jusques aux premiers. | And when even was come, the lord of the vineyard saith unto his steward, Call the laborers, and pay them their hire, beginning from the last unto the first. |
| 9 | Alors ceux qui avaient été loués vers les onze heures étant venus, ils reçurent chacun un denier. | And when they came that [were hired] about the eleventh hour, they received every man a shilling. |
| 10 | Or quand les premiers furent venus ils croyaient recevoir davantage, mais ils reçurent aussi chacun un denier. | And when the first came, they supposed that they would receive more; and they likewise received every man a shilling. |
| 11 | Et l'ayant reçu, ils murmuraient contre le père de famille, | And when they received it, they murmured against the householder, |
| 12 | En disant: ces derniers n'ont travaillé qu'une heure, et tu les as faits égaux à nous, qui avons porté le faix du jour, et la chaleur. | saying, These last have spent [but] one hour, and thou hast made them equal unto us, who have borne the burden of the day and the scorching heat. |
| 13 | Et il répondit à l'un d'eux, et lui dit: mon ami, je ne te fais point de tort, n'as-tu pas accordé avec moi à un denier? | But he answered and said to one of them, Friend, I do thee no wrong: didst not thou agree with me for a shilling? |
| 14 | Prends ce qui est à toi, et t'en va; mais si je veux donner à ce dernier autant qu'à toi, | Take up that which is thine, and go thy way; it is my will to give unto this last, even as unto thee. |
| 15 | Ne m'est-il pas permis de faire ce que je veux de mes biens? ton oeil est-il malin de ce que je suis bon? | Is it not lawful for me to do what I will with mine own? or is thine eye evil, because I am good? |
| 16 | Ainsi les derniers seront les premiers, et les premiers seront les derniers, car il y a beaucoup d'appelés, mais peu d'élus. | So the last shall be first, and the first last. |
| 17 | Et Jésus montant à Jérusalem, prit à part sur le chemin ses douze Disciples, et leur dit: | And as Jesus was going up to Jerusalem, he took the twelve disciples apart, and on the way he said unto them, |
| 18 | Voici, nous montons à Jérusalem, et le Fils de l'homme sera livré aux principaux Sacrificateurs et aux Scribes, et ils le condamneront à la mort. | Behold, we go up to Jerusalem; and the Son of man shall be delivered unto the chief priests and scribes; and they shall condemn him to death, |
| 19 | Ils le livreront aux Gentils pour s'en moquer, le fouetter, et le crucifier; mais le troisième jour il ressuscitera. | and shall deliver him unto the Gentiles to mock, and to scourge, and to crucify: and the third day he shall be raised up. |
| 20 | Alors la mère des fils de Zébédée vint à lui avec ses fils, se prosternant, et lui demandant une grâce. | Then came to him the mother of the sons of Zebedee with her sons, worshipping [him], and asking a certain thing of him. |
| 21 | Et il lui dit: que veux-tu? Elle lui dit: ordonne que mes deux fils, qui sont ici, soient assis l'un à ta main droite, et l'autre à ta gauche dans ton Royaume. | And he said unto her, What wouldest thou? She saith unto him, Command that these my two sons may sit, one on thy right hand, and one on thy left hand, in thy kingdom. |
| 22 | Et Jésus répondit et dit: vous ne savez ce que vous demandez, pouvez-vous boire la coupe que je dois boire, et être baptisés du baptême dont je dois être baptisé; ils lui répondirent: nous le pouvons. | But Jesus answered and said, Ye know not what ye ask. Are ye able to drink the cup that I am about to drink? They say unto him, We are able. |
| 23 | Et il leur dit: il est vrai que vous boirez ma coupe, et que vous serez baptisés du baptême dont je serai baptisé; mais d'être assis à ma droite ou à ma gauche, ce n'est point à moi de le donner, mais il sera donné à ceux à qui cela est destiné par mon Père. | He saith unto them, My cup indeed ye shall drink: but to sit on my right hand, and on [my] left hand, is not mine to give; but [it is for them] for whom it hath been prepared of my Father. |
| 24 | Les dix autres Disciples ayant ouï cela, furent indignés contre les deux frères. | And when the ten heard it, they were moved with indignation concerning the two brethren. |
| 25 | Mais Jésus les ayant appelés, leur dit: vous savez que les Princes des nations les maîtrisent, et que les Grands usent d'autorité sur elles. | But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Ye know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great ones exercise authority over them. |
| 26 | Mais il n'en sera pas ainsi entre vous: au contraire, quiconque voudra être grand entre vous, qu'il soit votre serviteur. | Not so shall it be among you: but whosoever would become great among you shall be your minister; |
| 27 | Et quiconque voudra être le premier entre vous, qu'il soit votre serviteur. | and whosoever would be first among you shall be your servant: |
| 28 | De même que le Fils de l'homme n'est pas venu pour être servi, mais pour servir, et afin de donner sa vie en rançon pour plusieurs. | even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many. |
| 29 | Et comme ils partaient de Jéricho, une grande troupe le suivit. | And as they went out from Jericho, a great multitude followed him. |
| 30 | Et voici, deux aveugles qui étaient assis au bord du chemin, ayant ouï que Jésus passait, crièrent, en disant: Seigneur, Fils de David! aie pitié de nous! | And behold, two blind men sitting by the way side, when they heard that Jesus was passing by, cried out, saying, Lord, have mercy on us, thou son of David. |
| 31 | Et la troupe les reprit, afin qu'ils se tussent; mais ils criaient encore plus fort: Seigneur, Fils de David! aie pitié de nous! | And the multitude rebuked them, that they should hold their peace: but they cried out the more, saying, Lord, have mercy on us, thou son of David. |
| 32 | Et Jésus s'arrêtant, les appela, et leur dit: que voulez-vous que je vous fasse? | And Jesus stood still, and called them, and said, What will ye that I should do unto you? |
| 33 | Ils lui dirent: Seigneur, que nos yeux soient ouverts. | They say unto him, Lord, that our eyes may be opened. |
| 34 | Et Jésus étant ému de compassion, toucha leurs yeux, et incontinent leurs yeux recouvrèrent la vue; et ils le suivirent. | And Jesus, being moved with compassion, touched their eyes; and straightway they received their sight, and followed him. |
