And he called unto him his twelve disciples, and gave them authority over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of disease and all manner of sickness.Jesus called his twelve followers together. Jesus gave them power over evil spirits. Jesus gave them power to heal every kind of disease and sickness.
Voici les noms des douze apôtres. Le premier, Simon appelé Pierre, et André, son frère ; Jacques, fils de Zébédée, et Jean, son frère ;Now the names of the twelve apostles are these: The first, Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother; James the [son] of Zebedee, and John his brother;These are the names of the twelve apostles: Simon (also called Peter) and his brother Andrew; James, son of Zebedee, and his brother John;
Philippe, et Barthélemy ; Thomas, et Matthieu, le publicain ; Jacques, fils d'Alphée, et Thaddée ;Philip, and Bartholomew; Thomas, and Matthew the publican; James the [son] of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus;Philip and Bartholomew; Thomas and Matthew, the tax collector; James, son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus;
Simon the Cananaean, and Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed him.Simon the Zealot and Judas Iscariot. Judas is the one that gave Jesus to his enemies.
These twelve Jesus sent forth, and charged them, saying, Go not into [any] way of the Gentiles, and enter not into any city of the Samaritans:Jesus gave these twelve apostles some orders. Then he sent them [to tell people about the kingdom]. Jesus said, Don't go to the non-Jewish people. And don't go into any town where the Samaritans live.
allez plutôt vers les brebis perdues de la maison d'Israël.but go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. But go to the people of Israel (the Jews). They are like sheep that are lost.
And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand. When you go, tell them this: 'The kingdom of heaven is coming soon.'
Guérissez les malades, ressuscitez les morts, purifiez les lépreux, chassez les démons. Vous avez reçu gratuitement, donnez gratuitement.Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse the lepers, cast out demons: freely ye received, freely give.Heal sick people. Give dead people life again. Heal those people that have leprosy. Force demons to leave people. I give you these powers freely. So help other people freely.
Ne prenez ni or, ni argent, ni monnaie, dans vos ceintures ;Get you no gold, nor silver, nor brass in your purses;Don't carry any money with you--gold or silver or copper.
ni sac pour le voyage, ni deux tuniques, ni souliers, ni bâton ; car l'ouvrier mérite sa nourriture.no wallet for [your] journey, neither two coats, nor shoes, nor staff: for the laborer is worthy of his food.Don't carry a bag. Take for your trip only the clothes and shoes you are wearing. Don't take a walking stick. A worker should be given the things he needs.
And into whatsoever city or village ye shall enter, search out who in it is worthy; and there abide till ye go forth. When you enter a city or town, find some worthy person there and stay in his home until you leave.
En entrant dans la maison, saluez-la ;And as ye enter into the house, salute it.When you enter that home say, 'Peace be with you.'
And if the house be worthy, let your peace come upon it: but if it be not worthy, let your peace return to you.If the people in that home welcome you, then they are worthy of your peace. May they have the peace you wished them. But if the people don't welcome you, then they are not worthy of your peace. Take back the peace you wished for them.
And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, as ye go forth out of that house or that city, shake off the dust of your feet. And if a home or town refuses to welcome you or listen to you, then leave that place. Shake their dust off your feet.
I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrah in the day of judgment, than for that city.I tell you the truth. On the judgment day it will be worse for that town than for the towns of Sodom and Gomorrah.
Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.Listen! I am sending you, and you will be like sheep among wolves. So be smart like snakes. But also be like doves and do nothing wrong.
But beware of men: for they will deliver you up to councils, and in theirs synagogues they will scourge you;Be careful of people. They will arrest you and take you to be judged. They will whip you in their synagogues.
vous serez menés, à cause de moi, devant des gouverneurs et devant des rois, pour servir de témoignage à eux et aux païens.yea and before governors and kings shall ye be brought for my sake, for a testimony to them and to the Gentiles. You will be taken to stand before governors and kings. People will do this to you because of me. You will tell about me to those kings and governors and to the non-Jewish people.
But when they deliver you up, be not anxious how or what ye shall speak: for it shall be given you in that hour what ye shall speak. When you are arrested, don't worry about what to say or how you should say it. At that time you will be given the things to say.
For it is not ye that speak, but the Spirit of your Father that speaketh in you.It will not really be you speaking. The Spirit of your Father will be speaking through you.
And brother shall deliver up brother to death, and the father his child: and children shall rise up against parents, and cause them to be put to death.Brothers will turn against their own brothers and give them to be killed. Fathers will turn against their own children and give them to be killed. Children will fight against their own parents and will send their parents to be killed.
And ye shall be hated of all men for my name`s sake: but he that endureth to the end, the same shall be saved. All people will hate you because you follow me. But the person that continues strong until the end will be saved.
But when they persecute you in this city, flee into the next: for verily I say unto you, Ye shall not have gone through the cities of Israel, till the Son of man be come. When you are treated badly in one city, go to another city. I tell you the truth. You will not finish going through all the cities of Israel before the Son of Man comes again.
A disciple is not above his teacher, nor a servant above his lord.A student is not better than his teacher. A servant is not better than his master.
It is enough for the disciple that he be as his teacher, and the servant as his lord. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebub, how much more them of his household!A student should be satisfied to become like his teacher. A servant should be satisfied to become like his master. If the head of the family is called Beelzebul (the devil), then the other members of the family will be called worse names!
Fear them not therefore: for there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; and hid, that shall not be known. So don't be afraid of those people. Everything that is hidden will be shown. Everything that is secret will be made known.
What I tell you in the darkness, speak ye in the light; and what ye hear in the ear, proclaim upon the house-tops.I tell you these things in the dark (secretly). But I want you to tell these things in the light. I speak these things quietly and only to you. But you should tell these things freely to all people.
And be not afraid of them that kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.Don't be afraid of people. They can only kill the body. They cannot kill the soul. The only one you should fear is the One (God) that can destroy the body and the soul. He can send the body and the soul to hell.
Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? and not one of them shall fall on the ground without your Father:When birds are sold, two small birds cost only a penny. But not even one of those little birds can die without your Father allowing it.
Et même les cheveux de votre tête sont tous comptés.but the very hairs of your head are all numbered.God even knows how many hairs are on your head.
Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows. So don't be afraid. You are worth much more than many birds.
C'est pourquoi, quiconque me confessera devant les hommes, je le confesserai aussi devant mon Père qui est dans les cieux ;Every one therefore who shall confess me before men, him will I also confess before my Father who is in heaven. When a person stands before other people and says he believes in me, then I will say that person belongs to me. I will say this before my Father in heaven.
But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father who is in heaven. But when a person stands before people and says he does not believe in me, then I will say that person does not belong to me. I will say this before my Father in heaven.
Think not that I came to send peace on the earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.Don't think that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace. I came to bring a sword.
For I came to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law:I have come to make this happen: 'The people in a person's own family will be his enemies. A son will be against his father.
et l'homme aura pour ennemis les gens de sa maison.and a man`s foes [shall be] they of his own household.A daughter will be against her mother. A daughter-in-law will be against her mother-in-law.'
Celui qui aime son père ou sa mère plus que moi n'est pas digne de moi, et celui qui aime son fils ou sa fille plus que moi n'est pas digne de moi ;He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.Any person that loves his father or mother more than he loves me is not good enough to follow me. Any person who loves his son or daughter more than he loves me is not good enough to follow me.
And he that doth not take his cross and follow after me, is not worthy of me.If a person will not accept the cross (suffering) that will be given to him when he follows me, then that person is not good enough for me.
He that findeth his life shall lose it; and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.Any person that loves his life [more than he loves me] will lose true life. Any person that gives up his life for me will find true life.
Celui qui vous reçoit me reçoit, et celui qui me reçoit, reçoit celui qui m'a envoyé.He that receiveth you receiveth me, and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me.The person that accepts you also accepts me. And the person that accepts me also accepts the One (God) that sent me.
He that receiveth a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet`s reward: and he that receiveth a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man`s reward.Any person that meets a prophet and accepts him will get the reward of a prophet. And any person that accepts a good man because that man is good will get the reward of a good man.
And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only, in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you he shall in no wise lose his reward. If any person helps one of these little ones because they are my followers, then that person will truly get his reward. That person will get his reward even if he only gave my follower a cup of cold water."
