| 1 | And he said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That there be some of them that stand here, which shall not taste of death, till they have seen the kingdom of God come with power. | Il leur disait aussi: en vérité je vous dis, que parmi ceux qui sont ici présents, il y en a quelques-uns qui ne mourront point jusqu'à ce qu’ils aient vu le Règne de Dieu venir avec puissance. |
| 2 | And after six days Jesus taketh with him Peter, and James, and John, and leadeth them up into an high mountain apart by themselves: and he was transfigured before them. | Et six jours après, Jésus prit avec soi Pierre et Jacques, et Jean, et les mena seuls à l'écart sur une haute montagne, et il fut transfiguré devant eux. |
| 3 | And his raiment became shining, exceeding white as snow; so as no fuller on earth can white them. | Et ses vêtements devinrent reluisants et blancs comme de la neige, tels qu'il n'y a point de foulon sur la terre qui les pût ainsi blanchir. |
| 4 | And there appeared unto them Elias with Moses: and they were talking with Jesus. | Et en même temps leur apparurent Elie et Moïse, qui parlaient avec Jésus. |
| 5 | And Peter answered and said to Jesus, Master, it is good for us to be here: and let us make three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias. | Alors Pierre prenant la parole, dit à Jésus: Maître, il est bon que nous soyons ici; faisons-y donc trois tabernacles, un pour toi, un pour Moïse, et un pour Elie. |
| 6 | For he wist not what to say; for they were sore afraid. | Or il ne savait ce qu'il disait, car ils étaient épouvantés. |
| 7 | And there was a cloud that overshadowed them: and a voice came out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son: hear him. | Et il vint une nuée qui les couvrit de son ombre; et il vint de la nuée une voix, disant: celui-ci est mon Fils bien-aimé, écoutez-le. |
| 8 | And suddenly, when they had looked round about, they saw no man any more, save Jesus only with themselves. | Et aussitôt ayant regardé de tous côtés, ils ne virent plus personne, sinon Jésus seul avec eux. |
| 9 | And as they came down from the mountain, he charged them that they should tell no man what things they had seen, till the Son of man were risen from the dead. | Et comme ils descendaient de la montagne, il leur commanda expressément de ne raconter à personne ce qu'ils avaient vu, sinon après que le Fils de l'homme serait ressuscité des morts. |
| 10 | And they kept that saying with themselves, questioning one with another what the rising from the dead should mean. | Et ils retinrent cette parole-là en eux-mêmes, s'entre-demandant ce que c'était que ressusciter des morts. |
| 11 | And they asked him, saying, Why say the scribes that Elias must first come? | Puis ils l'interrogèrent, disant: pourquoi les Scribes disent-ils qu'il faut qu'Elie vienne premièrement? |
| 12 | And he answered and told them, Elias verily cometh first, and restoreth all things; and how it is written of the Son of man, that he must suffer many things, and be set at nought. | Il répondit, et leur dit: il est vrai, Elie étant venu premièrement doit rétablir toutes choses, et comme il est écrit du Fils de l'homme, il faut qu'il souffre beaucoup, et qu'il soit chargé de mépris. |
| 13 | But I say unto you, That Elias is indeed come, and they have done unto him whatsoever they listed, as it is written of him. | Mais je vous dis que même Elie est venu, et qu'ils lui ont fait tout ce qu'ils ont voulu, comme il est écrit de lui. |
| 14 | And when he came to his disciples, he saw a great multitude about them, and the scribes questioning with them. | Puis étant revenu vers les Disciples, il vit autour d'eux une grande troupe, et des Scribes qui disputaient avec eux. |
| 15 | And straightway all the people, when they beheld him, were greatly amazed, and running to him saluted him. | Et dès que toute cette troupe le vit, elle fut saisie d'étonnement; et ils accoururent pour le saluer. |
| 16 | And he asked the scribes, What question ye with them? | Et il interrogea les Scribes, disant: de quoi disputez-vous avec eux? |
| 17 | And one of the multitude answered and said, Master, I have brought unto thee my son, which hath a dumb spirit; | Et quelqu'un de la troupe prenant la parole, dit: Maître, je t'ai amené mon fils qui a un esprit muet. |
| 18 | And wheresoever he taketh him, he teareth him: and he foameth, and gnasheth with his teeth, and pineth away: and I spake to thy disciples that they should cast him out; and they could not. | Lequel l'agite cruellement partout où il le saisit, et il écume, et grince les dents, et devient sec; et j'ai prié tes Disciples de chasser ce démon, mais ils n'ont pu. |
| 19 | He answereth him, and saith, O faithless generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I suffer you? bring him unto me. | Alors Jésus lui répondant, dit: Ô génération incrédule! jusques à quand serai-je avec vous? jusques à quand vous supporterai-je? amenez-le-moi. |
| 20 | And they brought him unto him: and when he saw him, straightway the spirit tare him; and he fell on the ground, and wallowed foaming. | Et ils le lui amenèrent; et quand il l'eut vu l'esprit l'agita sur-le-champ avec violence, de sorte que l'enfant tomba à terre, et se tournait çà et là en écumant. |
| 21 | And he asked his father, How long is it ago since this came unto him? And he said, Of a child. | Et Jésus demanda au père de l'enfant: combien y a-t-il de temps que ceci lui est arrivé? et il dit: dès son enfance; |
| 22 | And ofttimes it hath cast him into the fire, and into the waters, to destroy him: but if thou canst do any thing, have compassion on us, and help us. | Et souvent il l’a jeté dans le feu et dans l'eau pour le faire périr; mais si tu y peux quelque chose, assiste-nous, étant ému de compassion envers nous. |
| 23 | Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth. | Alors Jésus lui dit: si tu le peux croire, toutes choses sont possibles au croyant. |
| 24 | And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief. | Et aussitôt le père de l'enfant s'écriant avec larmes, dit: Je crois, Seigneur! aide-moi dans mon incrédulité. |
| 25 | When Jesus saw that the people came running together, he rebuked the foul spirit, saying unto him, Thou dumb and deaf spirit, I charge thee, come out of him, and enter no more into him. | Et quand Jésus vit que le peuple y accourait l'un sur l'autre, il censura fortement l'esprit immonde, en lui disant: esprit muet et sourd, je te commande, moi, sors de cet enfant, et n'y rentre plus. |
| 26 | And the spirit cried, and rent him sore, and came out of him: and he was as one dead; insomuch that many said, He is dead. | Et le démon sortit en criant, et faisant beaucoup souffrir cet enfant, qui en devint comme mort, tellement que plusieurs disaient: il est mort. |
| 27 | But Jesus took him by the hand, and lifted him up; and he arose. | Mais Jésus l'ayant pris par la main, le redressa; et il se leva. |
| 28 | And when he was come into the house, his disciples asked him privately, Why could not we cast him out? | Puis Jésus étant entré dans la maison, ses Disciples lui demandèrent en particulier: pourquoi ne l'avons-nous pu chasser? |
| 29 | And he said unto them, This kind can come forth by nothing, but by prayer and fasting. | Et il leur répondit: cette sorte de démons ne peut sortir si ce n'est par la prière et par le jeûne. |
| 30 | And they departed thence, and passed through Galilee; and he would not that any man should know it. | Et étant partis de là, ils traversèrent la Galilée; mais il ne voulut pas que personne le sût. |
| 31 | For he taught his disciples, and said unto them, The Son of man is delivered into the hands of men, and they shall kill him; and after that he is killed, he shall rise the third day. | Or il enseignait ses Disciples, et leur disait: le Fils de l'homme va être livré entre les mains des hommes, et ils le feront mourir, mais après qu'il aura été mis à mort, il ressuscitera le troisième jour. |
| 32 | But they understood not that saying, and were afraid to ask him. | Mais ils ne comprenaient point ce discours, et ils craignaient de l'interroger. |
| 33 | And he came to Capernaum: and being in the house he asked them, What was it that ye disputed among yourselves by the way? | Après ces choses il vint à Capernaüm, et quand il fut arrivé à la maison, il leur demanda: de quoi disputiez-vous ensemble en chemin? |
| 34 | But they held their peace: for by the way they had disputed among themselves, who should be the greatest. | Et ils se turent: car ils avaient disputé ensemble en chemin, qui d'entre eux était le plus grand. |
| 35 | And he sat down, and called the twelve, and saith unto them, If any man desire to be first, the same shall be last of all, and servant of all. | Et après qu’il se fut assis, il appela les douze, et leur dit: si quelqu'un veut être le premier entre vous, il sera le dernier de tous, et le serviteur de tous. |
| 36 | And he took a child, and set him in the midst of them: and when he had taken him in his arms, he said unto them, | Et ayant pris un petit enfant, il le mit au milieu d'eux, et après l'avoir pris entre ses bras, il leur dit: |
| 37 | Whosoever shall receive one of such children in my name, receiveth me: and whosoever shall receive me, receiveth not me, but him that sent me. | Quiconque recevra l'un de tels petits enfants en mon Nom, il me reçoit; et quiconque me reçoit, ce n'est pas moi qu’il reçoit, mais il reçoit celui qui m'a envoyé. |
| 38 | And John answered him, saying, Master, we saw one casting out devils in thy name, and he followeth not us: and we forbad him, because he followeth not us. | Alors Jean prit la parole, et dit: Maître, nous avons vu quelqu'un qui chassait les démons en ton Nom, et qui pourtant ne nous suit point; et nous l'en avons empêché, parce qu'il ne nous suit point. |
| 39 | But Jesus said, Forbid him not: for there is no man which shall do a miracle in my name, that can lightly speak evil of me. | Mais Jésus leur dit: ne l'en empêchez point; parce qu'il n'y a personne qui fasse un miracle en mon Nom, qui aussitôt puisse mal parler de moi. |
| 40 | For he that is not against us is on our part. | Car qui n'est pas contre nous, il est pour nous. |
| 41 | For whosoever shall give you a cup of water to drink in my name, because ye belong to Christ, verily I say unto you, he shall not lose his reward. | Et quiconque vous donnera à boire un verre d'eau en mon Nom, parce que vous êtes à Christ, en vérité je vous dis, qu'il ne perdra point sa récompense. |
| 42 | And whosoever shall offend one of these little ones that believe in me, it is better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he were cast into the sea. | Mais quiconque scandalisera l'un de ces petits qui croient en moi, il lui vaudrait mieux qu'on mit une pierre de meule autour de son cou, et qu'on le jetât dans la mer. |
| 43 | And if thy hand offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than having two hands to go into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched: | Or si ta main te fait broncher, coupe-la: il vaut mieux que tu entres manchot dans la vie, que d'avoir deux mains, et aller dans la géhenne, au feu qui ne s'éteint point; |
| 44 | Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched. | Là où leur ver ne meurt point, et le feu ne s'éteint point. |
| 45 | And if thy foot offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter halt into life, than having two feet to be cast into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched: | Et si ton pied te fait broncher, coupe-le: il vaut mieux que tu entres boiteux dans la vie, que d'avoir deux pieds, et être jeté dans la géhenne, au feu qui ne s'éteint point; |
| 46 | Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched. | Là où leur ver ne meurt point, et le feu ne s'éteint point. |
| 47 | And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out: it is better for thee to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye, than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire: | Et si ton oeil te fait broncher, arrache-le: il vaut mieux que tu entres dans le Royaume de Dieu n'ayant qu'un oeil, que d'avoir deux yeux, et être jeté dans la géhenne du feu; |
| 48 | Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched. | Là où leur ver ne meurt point, et où le feu ne s'éteint point. |
| 49 | For every one shall be salted with fire, and every sacrifice shall be salted with salt. | Car chacun sera salé de feu; et toute oblation sera salée de sel. |
| 50 | Salt is good: but if the salt have lost his saltness, wherewith will ye season it? Have salt in yourselves, and have peace one with another. | C'est une bonne chose que le sel; mais si le sel devient insipide, avec quoi lui rendra-t-on sa saveur? |
