Et de tels miracles qui s'opèrent par ses mains ? | And when the sabbath was come, he began to teach in the synagogue: and many hearing him were astonished, saying, Whence hath this man these things? and, What is the wisdom that is given unto this man, and [what mean] such mighty works wrought by his hands? | E, venuto il sabato, si mise ad insegnare nella sinagoga. | 8 | Il leur recommanda de ne rien prendre pour la route, qu'un bâton seulement, ni pain, ni besace, ni petite monnaie pour la ceinture, | and he charged them that they should take nothing for [their] journey, save a staff only; no bread, no wallet, now money in their purse; | E ordinò loro che non prendessero nulla per il viaggio, eccetto un bastone soltanto: né sacca né pane né denaro nella cintura; |

| 10 | Et il leur dit : "Partout où vous serez entrés dans une maison, demeurez-y jusqu'à ce que vous repartiez de là. | And he said unto them, Wheresoever ye enter into a house, there abide till ye depart thence. | Disse loro ancora: Dovunque entrate in una casa, fermatevi lì, finché non partiate da quel luogo. |
| 11 | Et si un endroit refuse de vous recevoir et qu'on ne vous écoute pas, sortez de là en secouant la poussière de dessous vos pieds en témoignage conter eux." | And whatsoever place shall not receive you, and they hear you not, as ye go forth thence, shake off the dust that is under your feet for a testimony unto them. | Se poi alcuni non vi ricevono e non vi ascoltano, andando via di là, scuotete la polvere dai vostri piedi in testimonianza contro di loro. In verità vi dico che nel giorno del giudizio Sodoma e Gomorra saranno trattate con più tolleranza che quella città. |
| 12 | Etant partis, ils prêchèrent que l'on se repentît. | And they went out, and preached that [men] should repent. | Così partiti, predicavano che la gente si doveva ravvedere; |
| 13 | Ils chassaient beaucoup de démons, et ils oignaient d'huile beaucoup de malades et les guérissaient. | And they cast out many demons, and anointed with oil many that were sick, and healed them. | e scacciavano molti demoni e ungevano con olio molti infermi, e li guarivano. |
| 14 | Et le roi Hérode entendit parler (de Jésus), car son nom était devenu célèbre, et il disait : "Jean Le Baptiste est ressuscité des morts : voilà pourquoi le pouvoir thaumaturgique agit en lui." | And king Herod heard [thereof]; for his name had become known: and he said, John the Baptizer is risen from the dead, and therefore do these powers work in him. | Ora il re Erode sentì parlare di Gesù, perché il suo nome era diventato celebre, e diceva: Quel Giovanni che battezzava è risuscitato dai morti; e perciò le potenze miracolose operano in lui. |
| 15 | D'autres disaient : "C'est Elie; "et d'autres disaient : "C'est un prophète, comme l'un des (anciens) prophètes." | But others said, It is Elijah. And others said, [It is] a prophet, [even] as one of the prophets. | Altri dicevano: E' Elia; ed altri: E' un profeta, o come uno dei profeti. |
| 16 | Ce qu'Hérode ayant entendu, il disait : "Ce Jean, que j'ai fait décapiter, il est ressuscité." | But Herod, when he heard [thereof], said, John, whom I beheaded, he is risen. | Ma Erode, udito questo, diceva: Quel Giovanni, che io ho fatto decapitare, è risorto dai morti!. |
| 17 | Car c'était lui, Hérode, qui avait envoyé arrêter Jean, et l'avait fait mettre en prison chargé de chaînes, à cause d'Hérodiade, la femme de Philippe, son frère, qu'il avait épousée. | For Herod himself had sent forth and laid hold upon John, and bound him in prison for the sake of Herodias, his brother Philip`s wife; for he had married her. | Erode stesso infatti aveva fatto arrestare Giovanni e l'aveva tenuto legato in carcere a causa di Erodiade, moglie di Filippo suo fratello, perché egli l'aveva presa per moglie. |
| 18 | Jean en effet disait à Hérode : "Il ne t'est pas permis d'avoir la femme de ton frère." | For John said unto Herod, It is not lawful for thee to have thy brother`s wife. | Giovanni infatti diceva ad Erode: Non ti è lecito di avere la moglie di tuo fratello. |
| 19 | Hérodiade lui gardait rancune et voulait le faire mourir, mais elle ne le pouvait pas, | And Herodias set herself against him, and desired to kill him; and she could not; | Ed Erodiade gli portava rancore e volentieri l'avrebbe fatto uccidere, ma non poteva. |
| 20 | car Hérode craignait Jean, le sachant homme juste et saint, et il le préservait; en l'écoutant il était dans la perplexité, mais il l'écoutait volontiers. | for Herod feared John, knowing that he was a righteous and holy man, and kept him safe. And when he heard him, he was much perplexed; and he heard him gladly. | Erode infatti temeva Giovanni, sapendolo uomo giusto e santo, e lo proteggeva; e, dopo averlo udito, faceva molte cose e lo ascoltava volentieri. |
| 21 | Il arriva un jour propice, quand Hérode, pour l'anniversaire de sa naissance, donna un festin à ses grands, aux tribuns et aux principaux de la Galilée. | And when a convenient day was come, that Herod on his birthday made a supper to his lords, and the high captains, and the chief men of Galilee; | Ora, venuto un giorno propizio, Erode per il suo compleanno offrì un banchetto ai suoi grandi, ai comandanti e ai notabili della Galilea. |
| 22 | La fille d'Hérodiade elle-même, étant entrée, dansa et plus à Hérode et aux convives. Et le roi dit à la jeune fille : "Demande-moi ce que tu voudras, et je te le donnerai." | and when the daughter of Herodias herself came in and danced, she pleased Herod and them that sat at meat with him; and the king said unto the damsel, Ask of me whatsoever thou wilt, and I will give it thee. | La figlia di Erodiade stessa entrò e danzò, e piacque ad Erode e a coloro che erano a tavola con lui; allora il re disse alla fanciulla: Domandami tutto ciò che vuoi e io te lo darò. |
| 23 | Et il lui fit serment : "Quoi que ce soit que tu me demandes, je te le donnerai, fût-ce la moitié de mon royaume." | And he sware unto her, Whatsoever thou shalt ask of me, I will give it thee, unto the half of my kingdom. | E le giurò: Qualsiasi cosa mi chiederai, te la darò, fino alla metà del mio regno!. |
| 24 | Elle sortit et dit à sa mère : "Que demanderai-je ?"Celle-ci dit : "La tête de Jean le Baptiste." | And she went out, and said unto her mother, What shall I ask? And she said, The head of John the Baptizer. | Ella uscì, e disse a sua madre: Che cosa devo chiedere?. Quella rispose: La testa di Giovanni Battista. |
| 25 | Rentrant aussitôt avec empressement vers le roi, elle lui fit cette demande : "Je veux que tu me donnes, à l'instant, sur un plateau, la tête de Jean le Baptiste." | And she came in straightway with haste unto the king, and asked, saying, I will that thou forthwith give me on a platter the head of John the Baptist. | Ed ella, ritornata subito dal re, gli fece in fretta la richiesta, dicendo: Io desidero che tu mi dia immediatamente, su un piatto, la testa di Giovanni Battista. |
| 26 | Le roi, très attristé, ne voulut pas, à raison des serments et des convives, la repousser. | And the king was exceeding sorry; but for the sake of his oaths, and of them that sat at meat, he would not reject her. | E il re, sebbene ne fosse molto rattristato, a motivo del giuramento e per rispetto dei convitati, non volle opporle un rifiuto. |
| 27 | Envoyant aussitôt un garde, le roi commanda d'apporter sa tête. Il s'en alla décapiter Jean dans la prison, | And straightway the king sent forth a soldier of his guard, and commanded to bring his head: and he went and beheaded him in the prison, | Così il re mandò subito una guardia, con l'ordine di portargli la testa di Giovanni. |
| 28 | et il apporta sa tête sur un plateau; il la donna à la jeune fille, et la jeune fille la donna à sa mère. | and brought his head on a platter, and gave it to the damsel; and the damsel gave it to her mother. | E quegli andò, lo decapitò in prigione e portò la sua testa su un piatto e la diede alla fanciulla, e la fanciulla la diede a sua madre. |
| 29 | Ses disciples, l'ayant appris, vinrent prendre son corps et le mirent dans un tombeau. | And when his disciples heard [thereof], they came and took up his corpse, and laid it in a tomb. | E quando i suoi discepoli udirono ciò, vennero, presero il suo corpo e lo posero in un sepolcro. |
| 30 | Les apôtres se rassemblèrent auprès de Jésus et lui firent un rapport de tout ce qu'ils avaient fait et de tout ce qu'ils avaient enseigné. | And the apostles gather themselves together unto Jesus; and they told him all things, whatsoever they had done, and whatsoever they had taught. | Ora gli apostoli si radunarono intorno a Gesù, e gli riferirono tutto quello che avevano fatto ed insegnato. |
| 31 | Il leur dit : "Venez, vous autres, à part, dans un lieu désert, et prenez un peu de repos."Car nombreux étaient ceux qui venaient et s'en allaient; et ils n'avaient pas même le temps de manger. | And he saith unto them, Come ye yourselves apart into a desert place, and rest a while. For there were many coming and going, and they had no leisure so much as to eat. | Ed egli disse loro: Venite in disparte in un luogo solitario e riposatevi un po'. Poiché era tanta la gente che andava e veniva, che essi non avevano neppure il tempo di mangiare. |
| 32 | Ils partirent donc dans la barque pour un lieu désert, à part. | And they went away in the boat to a desert place apart. | Partirono quindi in barca verso un luogo solitario e appartato. |
| 33 | On les vit s'en aller, et beaucoup ayant deviné, de toutes les villes on y accourut à pied et on arriva avant eux. | And [the people] saw them going, and many knew [them], and they ran together there on foot from all the cities, and outwent them. | La folla però li vide partire, e molti lo riconobbero, e da tutte le città accorsero là a piedi ed arrivarono prima di loro, e si strinsero intorno a lui. |
| 34 | En débarquant, il vit une foule nombreuse, et il en eut compassion, parce qu'ils étaient comme des brebis sans pasteur, et il se mit à les enseigner longuement. | And he came forth and saw a great multitude, and he had compassion on them, because they were as sheep not having a shepherd: and he began to teach them many things. | E Gesù, sbarcato, vide una grande folla e ne ebbe compassione, perché erano come pecore senza pastore, e prese a insegnare loro molte cose. |
| 35 | Quand l'heure était déjà avancée, ses disciples s'approchèrent de lui et dirent : "Le lieu est désert et déjà l'heure est avancée; | And when the day was now far spent, his disciples came unto him, and said, The place is desert, and the day is now far spent; | Ed essendo già tardi, i suoi discepoli gli si avvicinarono e gli dissero: Questo luogo è deserto, ed è già tardi. |
| 36 | renvoyez-les afin qu'ils aillent dans les hameaux et les bourgs des environs s'acheter de quoi manger." | send them away, that they may go into the country and villages round about, and buy themselves somewhat to eat. | Licenzia questa gente perché se ne vada nelle campagne e nei villaggi all'intorno a comprarsi del pane, perché non ha nulla da mangiare. |
| 37 | Il leur répondit : " Donnez-leur vous-mêmes à manger. " Et ils lui dirent : Irons-nous donc acheter pour deux cents deniers de pain afin de leur donner à manger ? | But he answered and said unto them, Give ye them to eat. And they say unto him, Shall we go and buy two hundred shillings` worth of bread, and give them to eat? | Ma egli, rispondendo, disse loro: Date voi a loro da mangiare. Ed essi gli dissero: Dobbiamo andare noi a comperare del pane per duecento denari e dare loro da mangiare?. |
| 38 | Il leur dit : "Combien de pains avez-vous ? Allez et voyez."S'en étant instruits, ils dirent : "Cinq, et deux poissons." | And he saith unto them, How many loaves have ye? go [and] see. And when they knew, they say, Five, and two fishes. | Ed egli disse loro: Quanti pani avete? Andate a vedere. Ed essi, accertatisi, dissero: Cinque pani e due pesci. |
| 39 | Alors il leur commanda de les faire tous asseoir, par tablées, sur l'herbe verte; | And he commanded them that all should sit down by companies upon the green grass. | Allora egli ordinò loro di farli accomodare tutti, per gruppi, sull'erba verde. |
| 40 | et ils s'installèrent par carrés de cent et de cinquante. | And they sat down in ranks, by hundreds, and by fifties. | Così essi si sedettero in gruppi di cento e di cinquanta. |
| 41 | Et il prit les cinq pains et les deux poissons, leva les yeux au ciel, prononça la bénédiction, rompit les pains et les donna aux disciples, pour qu'ils les leur servissent; il partagea aussi les deux poissons entre tous. | And he took the five loaves and the two fishes, and looking up to heaven, he blessed, and brake the loaves; and he gave to the disciples to set before them; and the two fishes divided he among them all. | Poi egli prese i cinque pani e i due pesci e, alzati gli occhi al cielo, li benedisse, quindi spezzò i pani e li diede ai suoi discepoli, perché li distribuissero loro; e divise pure i due pesci fra tutti. |

| 43 | et l'on emporta douze corbeilles pleines de morceaux et de ce qui restait des poissons. | And they took up broken pieces, twelve basketfuls, and also of the fishes. | E raccolsero dodici ceste piene di pezzi di pane e di resti dei pesci. |
| 44 | Or ceux qui avaient mangé étaient cinq mille hommes. | And they that ate the loaves were five thousand men. | Or coloro che avevano mangiato di quei pani erano cinquemila uomini. |
| 45 | Aussitôt il obligea ses disciples à monter dans la barque et à passer avant lui sur l'autre rive, vers Bethsaïde, pendant que lui-même renverrait la foule. | And straightway he constrained his disciples to enter into the boat, and to go before [him] unto the other side to Bethsaida, while he himself sendeth the multitude away. | Subito dopo Gesù costrinse i suoi discepoli a salire nella barca e precederlo all'altra riva verso Betsaida, mentre egli licenziava la folla. |
| 46 | Et après qu'il en eut pris congé, il s'en alla dans la montagne pour prier. | And after he had taken leave of them, he departed into the mountain to pray. | Appena l'ebbe congedata, salì sul monte a pregare. |
| 47 | Le soir étant venu, la barque était au milieu de la mer, et lui seul à terre. | And when even was come, the boat was in the midst of the sea, and he alone on the land. | Fattosi sera, la barca era in mezzo al mare ed egli era a terra tutto solo. |
| 48 | Voyant qu'ils avaient beaucoup de peine à avancer, car le vent leur était contraire, vers la quatrième veille de la nuit, il vint vers eux en marchant sur la mer; et il voulait les dépasser. | And seeing them distressed in rowing, for the wind was contrary unto them, about the fourth watch of the night he cometh unto them, walking on the sea; and he would have passed by them: | E, vedendo i discepoli affaticarsi a remare, perché avevano il vento contrario, verso la quarta vigilia della notte, egli andò verso loro camminando sul mare, e voleva oltrepassarli. |

| 52 | car ils n'avaient pas compris pour les pains, et leur coeur était aveuglé. | for they understood not concerning the loaves, but their heart was hardened. | perché non avevano capito il fatto dei pani, essendo il loro cuore indurito. |
| 53 | Ayant traversé, ils abordèrent à Génésareth et accostèrent. | And when they had crossed over, they came to the land unto Gennesaret, and moored to the shore. | Compiuta la traversata, giunsero nella contrada di Gennesaret e vi approdarono. |
| 54 | Quand ils furent sortis de la barque, (des gens) l'ayant aussitôt reconnu, | And when they were come out of the boat, straightway [the people] knew him, | E, scesi dalla barca, subito la gente lo riconobbe; |
| 55 | parcoururent toute cette contrée, et l'on se mit à apporter les malades sur les grabats, partout où l'on apprenait qu'il était. | and ran round about that whole region, and began to carry about on their beds those that were sick, where they heard he was. | e, percorrendo per tutta quella regione all'intorno, incominciò a portare i malati sui lettucci, ovunque sentiva che si trovasse |
| 56 | Et partout où il entrait, bourgs, ou villes, ou fermes, on mettait les malades sur les places, et on le priait de leur laisser seulement toucher la houppe de son manteau; et tous ceux qui pouvaient toucher étaient guéris. | And wheresoever he entered, into villages, or into cities, or into the country, they laid the sick in the marketplaces, and besought him that they might touch if it were but the border of his garment: and as many as touched him were made whole. | e dovunque egli giungeva, in villaggi, città o borgate, la gente metteva gli infermi sulle piazze e lo pregava di poter toccare almeno il lembo del suo vestito, e tutti quelli che lo toccavano erano guariti. |
