And he entered again into the synagogue; and there was a man there who had his hand withered.Another time Jesus went into the synagogue. In the synagogue there was a man with a crippled hand.
And they watched him, whether he would heal him on the sabbath day; that they might accuse him.Some Jews there wanted to see Jesus do something wrong so that they could accuse him. So those people watched him closely. They wanted to see if Jesus would heal the man on a Sabbath day.
And he saith unto the man that had his hand withered, Stand forth.Jesus said to the man with the crippled hand, "Stand up here so that all the people can see you."
And he saith unto them, Is it lawful on the sabbath day to do good, or to do harm? to save a life, or to kill? But they held their peace.Then Jesus asked the people, "Which thing is right to do on the Sabbath day: to do good, or to do evil? Is it right to save a life or to destroy one?" The people said nothing to answer Jesus.
And when he had looked round about on them with anger, being grieved at the hardening of their heart, he saith unto the man, Stretch forth thy hand. And he stretched it forth; and his hand was restored.Jesus looked at the people. He was angry. But he felt very sad because they were stubborn. Jesus said to the man, "Let me see your hand." The man put his hand out for Jesus, and it was healed.
And the Pharisees went out, and straightway with the Herodians took counsel against him, how they might destroy him.Then the Pharisees left and made plans with the Herodians about a way to kill Jesus.
Une grande multitude le suivit de la Galilée ;And Jesus with his disciples withdrew to the sea: and a great multitude from Galilee followed; and from Judaea,Jesus went away with his followers to the lake. Many people from Galilee followed him.
et de la Judée, et de Jérusalem, et de l'Idumée, et d'au delà du Jourdain, et des environs de Tyr et de Sidon, une grande multitude, apprenant tout ce qu'il faisait, vint à lui.and from Jerusalem, and from Idumaea, and beyond the Jordan, and about Tyre and Sidon, a great multitude, hearing what great things he did, came unto him.Many, many people also came from Judea, from Jerusalem, from Idumea, from the area across the Jordan River, and from the area around Tyre and Sidon. These people came because they heard about all the things Jesus was doing.
And he spake to his disciples, that a little boat should wait on him because of the crowd, lest they should throng him:Jesus saw the many people. So he told his followers to get a small boat and make it ready for him. Jesus wanted the boat so that the many, many people would not push against him.
Car, comme il guérissait beaucoup de gens, tous ceux qui avaient des maladies se jetaient sur lui pour le toucher.for he had healed many; insomuch that as many as had plagues pressed upon him that they might touch him.Jesus had healed many people. So all the sick people were pushing toward him to touch him.
And the unclean spirits, whensoever they beheld him, fell down before him, and cried, saying, Thou art the Son of God.Some people had evil spirits [from the devil] inside them. When the evil spirits saw Jesus, they bowed before him and shouted, "You are the Son of God!"
And he charged them much that they should not make him known.But Jesus commanded the spirits strongly not to tell people who he was.
And he goeth up into the mountain, and calleth unto him whom he himself would; and they went unto him.Then Jesus went up on a hill. Jesus told some men to come to him. These were the men Jesus wanted. These men went up to Jesus.
And he appointed twelve, that they might be with him, and that he might send them forth to preach,Jesus chose twelve men and called them apostles. Jesus wanted these twelve men to be with him, and he wanted to send them to other places to tell people [God's message].
et pour les envoyer prêcher avec le pouvoir de chasser les démons.and to have authority to cast out demons:And Jesus wanted these men to have the power to force demons out of people.
Voici les douze qu'il établit : Simon, qu'il nomma Pierre ;and Simon he surnamed Peter;These are the names of the twelve men Jesus chose: Simon (Jesus gave him the name Peter);
Jacques, fils de Zébédée, et Jean, frère de Jacques, auxquels il donna le nom de Boanergès, qui signifie fils du tonnerre ;and James the [son] of Zebedee, and John the brother of James; and them he surnamed Boanerges, which is, Sons of thunder:James and John, the sons of Zebedee (Jesus gave them the name Boanerges. This name means "Sons of Thunder");
André ; Philippe ; Barthélemy ; Matthieu ; Thomas ; Jacques, fils d'Alphée ; Thaddée ; Simon le Cananite ;and Andrew, and Philip, and Bartholomew, and Matthew, and Thomas, and James the [son] of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus, and Simon the Cananaean,Andrew, Philip, Bartholomew, Matthew, Thomas, James the son of Alphaeus, Thaddaeus, Simon the Zealot,
et Judas Iscariot, celui qui livra Jésus.and Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed him. And he cometh into a house.and Judas Iscariot. Judas is the one that gave Jesus [to his enemies].
And the multitude cometh together again, so that they could not so much as eat bread.Then Jesus went home. But again many people gathered there. There were so many people that Jesus and his followers could not eat.
And when his friends heard it, they went out to lay hold on him: for they said, He is beside himself.Jesus' family heard about all these things. They went to get him because people said that Jesus was crazy.
And the scribes that came down from Jerusalem said, He hath Beelzebub, and, By the prince of the demons casteth he out the demons.And the teachers of the law from Jerusalem said, Beelzebul (the devil) is living inside him (Jesus)! He uses power from the ruler of demons to force demons out of people.
And he called them unto him, and said unto them in parables, How can Satan cast out Satan?So Jesus called the people together and used stories to teach the people. Jesus said, Satan will not force his own demons out of people.
Si un royaume est divisé contre lui-même, ce royaume ne peut subsister ;And if a kingdom be divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand.A kingdom that fights against itself cannot continue.
And if a house be divided against itself, that house will not be able to stand.And a family that is divided cannot succeed.
And if Satan hath rise up against himself, and is divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.And if Satan is against himself and fights against his own people, then he cannot continue. That would be the end of Satan.
But no one can enter into the house of the strong [man], and spoil his goods, except he first bind the strong [man]; and then he will spoil his house.If a person wants to enter a strong man's house and steal his things, first the person must tie the strong man. Then the person can steal the things from the strong mans house.
I say unto you, All their sins shall be forgiven unto the sons of men, and their blasphemies wherewith soever they shall blaspheme:I tell you the truth. All sins that people do can be forgiven. And all the bad things people say against God can be forgiven.
mais quiconque blasphémera contre le Saint Esprit n'obtiendra jamais de pardon : il est coupable d'un péché éternel.but whosoever shall blaspheme against the Holy Spirit hath never forgiveness, but is guilty of an eternal sin:But any person that says bad things against (refuses to accept) the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven. He will always be guilty of that sin.
Jésus parla ainsi parce qu'ils disaient : Il est possédé d'un esprit impur.because they said, He hath an unclean spirit.Jesus said this because the teachers of the law said that Jesus had an evil spirit (devil) inside him.
And there come his mother and his brethren; and, standing without, they sent unto him, calling him.Then Jesus' mother and brothers came. They stood outside and sent a person in to tell Jesus to come out.
And a multitude was sitting about him; and they say unto him, Behold, thy mother and thy brethren without seek for thee.Many people were sitting around Jesus. They said to him, Your mother and brothers are waiting for you outside.
And he answereth them, and saith, Who is my mother and my brethren?Jesus asked, Who is my mother? Who are my brothers?
And looking round on them that sat round about him, he saith, Behold, my mother and my brethren!Then Jesus looked at those people sitting around him. He said, These people are my mother and my brothers!
For whosoever shall do the will of God, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother.My true brother and sister and mother are those people that do the things God wants.
