| 4 | And he saith unto them, Is it lawful to do good on the sabbath days, or to do evil? to save life, or to kill? But they held their peace. | Puis il leur dit : "Est-il permis, le jour du sabbat, de faire du bien ou de faire du mal, de sauver une vie ou de tuer ?"Et ils se taisaient. |
| 5 | And when he had looked round about on them with anger, being grieved for the hardness of their hearts, he saith unto the man, Stretch forth thine hand. | 10 | For he had healed many; insomuch that they pressed upon him for to touch him, as many as had plagues. | Car il avait guéri beaucoup de gens, si bien que tous ceux qui avaient des afflictions se jetaient sur lui pour le toucher. |
| 11 | And unclean spirits, when they saw him, fell down before him, and cried, saying, Thou art the Son of God. | Et les esprits impurs, en le voyant, se prosternaient devant lui et s'écriaient : "Vous êtes le Fils de Dieu ! " |
| 12 | And he straitly charged them that they should not make him known. | Mais il leur commandait avec grande force de ne pas le faire connaître. |
| 13 | And he goeth up into a mountain, and calleth unto him whom he would: and they came unto him. | Etant monté dans la montagne, il appela ceux que lui-même voulut; et ils vinrent à lui. |
| 14 | And he ordained twelve, that they should be with him, and that he might send them forth to preach, | Il (en) établit douze pour les avoir avec lui et pour les envoyer prêcher; |
| 15 | And to have power to heal sicknesses, and to cast out devils: | avec pouvoir de chasser les démons. |
| 16 | And Simon he surnamed Peter; | Il établit les Douze, et à Simon il imposa le nom de Pierre; |
| 17 | And James the son of Zebedee, and John the brother of James; and he surnamed them Boanerges, which is, The sons of thunder: | puis Jacques, fils de Zébédée, et Jean, frère de Jacques, auxquels il imposa le nom de Boanergès, c'est-à-dire, fils du tonnerre; |
| 18 | And Andrew, and Philip, and Bartholomew, and Matthew, and Thomas, and James the son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus, and Simon the Canaanite, | André, Philippe, Barthélemy, Matthieu, Thomas, Jacques fils d'Alphée, Thaddée, Simon le Zélote et |
| 19 | And Judas Iscariot, which also betrayed him: and they went into an house. | Judas Iscariote, celui qui le trahit. |
| 20 | And the multitude cometh together again, so that they could not so much as eat bread. | Il revint à la maison, et la foule s'y assembla de nouveau, de sorte qu'ils ne pouvaient pas même manger. |
| 21 | And when his friends heard of it, they went out to lay hold on him: for they said, He is beside himself. | Les siens, l'ayant appris, partirent pour se saisir de lui, car ils disaient : "Il est hors de sens." |
| 22 | And the scribes which came down from Jerusalem said, He hath Beelzebub, and by the prince of the devils casteth he out devils. | Et les scribes, qui étaient descendus de Jérusalem, disaient : "Il a Béelzéboul ! "et : "C'est par le chef des démons qu'il chasse les démons." |
| 23 | And he called them unto him, and said unto them in parables, How can Satan cast out Satan? | Il les appela et leur dit en parabole : "Comment Satan peut-il chasser Satan ? |
| 24 | And if a kingdom be divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. | Si un royaume est divisé contre lui-même, ce royaume ne peut subsister; |
| 25 | And if a house be divided against itself, that house cannot stand. | et si une maison est divisée contre elle-même, cette maison ne pourra subsister. |
| 26 | And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end. | Si donc Satan s'élève contre lui-même et se divise, il ne peut pas subsister, mais il est fini. |
| 27 | No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strong man; and then he will spoil his house. | Nul ne peut entrer dans la maison de l'homme fort et piller ses meubles, sans avoir auparavant lié l'homme fort; alors seulement il pillera sa maison. |
| 28 | Verily I say unto you, All sins shall be forgiven unto the sons of men, and blasphemies wherewith soever they shall blaspheme: | En vérité, je vous le dis, tous les péchés seront remis aux enfants des hommes, même les blasphèmes qu'ils auront proférés. |
| 29 | But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost hath never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation. | Mais celui qui aura blasphémé contre l'Esprit-Saint n'obtiendra jamais de pardon : il est coupable d'un péché éternel." |
| 30 | Because they said, He hath an unclean spirit. | C'est qu'ils disaient : "Il a un esprit impur." |
| 31 | There came then his brethren and his mother, and, standing without, sent unto him, calling him. | Sa mère et ses frères arrivèrent et, se tenant dehors, ils l'envoyèrent appeler. |
| 32 | And the multitude sat about him, and they said unto him, Behold, thy mother and thy brethren without seek for thee. | Une foule était assise autour de lui et on lui dit : "Voici dehors votre mère, vos frères et vos soeurs, qui vous cherchent." |
| 33 | And he answered them, saying, Who is my mother, or my brethren? | Il leur répondit : "Qui est ma mère et qui sont mes frères ?" |
| 34 | And he looked round about on them which sat about him, and said, Behold my mother and my brethren! | Puis, promenant ses regards sur ceux qui étaient assis en cercle autour de lui : "Voici, dit-il, ma mère et mes frères. |
| 35 | For whosoever shall do the will of God, the same is my brother, and my sister, and mother. | Car celui qui fait la volonté de Dieu, celui-là est pour moi frère, soeur et mère." |
