| 1 | Then Jonah prayed unto the LORD his God out of the fish's belly, | Et Jonas fit sa prière à l'Eternel son Dieu, dans le ventre du poisson. |
| 2 | And said, I cried by reason of mine affliction unto the LORD, and he heard me; out of the belly of hell cried I, and thou heardest my voice. | Et il dit: J'ai crié à l'Eternel à cause de ma détresse, et il m'a exaucé; je me suis écrié du ventre du sépulcre, et tu as ouï ma voix. |
| 3 | For thou hadst cast me into the deep, in the midst of the seas; and the floods compassed me about: all thy billows and thy waves passed over me. | Tu m'as jeté au fond, au coeur de la mer, et le courant m'a environné; tous tes flots et toutes tes vagues ont passé sur moi; |
| 4 | Then I said, I am cast out of thy sight; yet I will look again toward thy holy temple. | Et j'ai dit: Je suis rejeté de devant tes yeux; mais néanmoins je verrai encore le Temple de ta sainteté. |
| 5 | The waters compassed me about, even to the soul: the depth closed me round about, the weeds were wrapped about my head. | Les eaux m'ont environné jusqu'à l'âme, l'abîme m'a environné tout à l'entour, les roseaux se sont entortillés autour de ma tête. |
| 6 | I went down to the bottoms of the mountains; the earth with her bars was about me for ever: yet hast thou brought up my life from corruption, O LORD my God. | Je suis descendu jusqu'aux racines des montagnes, la terre avec ses barres était autour de moi pour jamais; mais tu as fait remonter ma vie hors de la fosse, ô Eternel, mon Dieu! |
| 7 | When my soul fainted within me I remembered the LORD: and my prayer came in unto thee, into thine holy temple. | Quand mon âme se pâmait en moi, je me suis souvenu de l'Eternel, et ma prière est parvenue à toi, jusqu'au palais de ta sainteté. |
| 8 | They that observe lying vanities forsake their own mercy. | Ceux qui s'adonnent aux vanités fausses abandonnent leur gratuité. |
| 9 | But I will sacrifice unto thee with the voice of thanksgiving; I will pay that that I have vowed. Salvation is of the LORD. | Mais moi, je te sacrifierai avec voix de louange, je rendrai ce que j'ai voué; car le salut est de l'Eternel. |
| 10 | And the LORD spake unto the fish, and it vomited out Jonah upon the dry land. | Alors l'Eternel fit commandement au poisson, et il dégorgea Jonas sur le sec. |
