| 3 | Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear. | Par la foi nous savons que les siècles ont été rangés par la parole de Dieu, de sorte que les choses qui se voient, n'ont point été faites de choses qui apparussent. |

| 11 | Through faith also Sara herself received strength to conceive seed, and was delivered of a child when she was past age, because she judged him faithful who had promised. | Par la foi aussi Sara reçut la vertu de concevoir un enfant, et elle enfanta hors d'âge, parce qu'elle fut persuadée que celui qui le lui avait promis, était fidèle. |
| 12 | Therefore sprang there even of one, and him as good as dead, so many as the stars of the sky in multitude, and as the sand which is by the sea shore innumerable. | C'est pourquoi d'un seul, et qui même était amorti, sont nés des gens qui égalent en nombre les étoiles du ciel, et le sable qui est sur le rivage de la mer, lequel ne se peut nombrer. |
| 13 | These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth. | Tous ceux-ci sont morts en la foi, sans avoir reçu les choses dont ils avaient eu les promesses, mais ils les ont vues de loin, crues, et saluées, et ils ont fait profession qu'ils étaient étrangers et voyageurs sur la terre. |
| 14 | For they that say such things declare plainly that they seek a country. | Car ceux qui tiennent ces discours montrent clairement qu'ils cherchent encore leur pays. |
| 15 | And truly, if they had been mindful of that country from whence they came out, they might have had opportunity to have returned. | Et certes, s'ils eussent rappelé dans leur souvenir celui dont ils étaient sortis, ils avaient du temps pour y retourner. |
| 16 | But now they desire a better country, that is, an heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God: for he hath prepared for them a city. | Mais ils en désiraient un meilleur, c'est-à-dire, le céleste; c'est pourquoi Dieu ne prend point à honte d'être appelé leur Dieu, parce qu'il leur avait préparé une Cité. |
| 17 | By faith Abraham, when he was tried, offered up Isaac: and he that had received the promises offered up his only begotten son, | Par la foi, Abraham étant éprouvé, offrit Isaac; celui, dis-je, qui avait reçu les promesses, offrit même son fils unique. |

| 19 | Accounting that God was able to raise him up, even from the dead; from whence also he received him in a figure. | Ayant estimé que Dieu le pouvait même ressusciter d'entre les morts; c'est pourquoi aussi il le recouvra par une espèce de résurrection. |
| 20 | By faith Isaac blessed Jacob and Esau concerning things to come. | Par la foi Isaac donna à Jacob et à Esaü une bénédiction qui regardait l'avenir. |
| 21 | By faith Jacob, when he was a dying, blessed both the sons of Joseph; and worshipped, leaning upon the top of his staff. | Par la foi Jacob en mourant bénit chacun des fils de Joseph, et se prosterna devant Dieu étant appuyé sur le bout de son bâton. |

| 27 | By faith he forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king: for he endured, as seeing him who is invisible. | Par la foi il quitta l'Egypte, n'ayant point craint la fureur du Roi; car il demeura ferme, comme voyant celui qui est invisible. |

| 34 | Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of the aliens. | Ont éteint la force du feu, sont échappés du tranchant des épées; de malades sont devenus vigoureux; se sont montrés forts dans la bataille, et ont tourné en fuite les armées des étrangers. |
| 35 | Women received their dead raised to life again: and others were tortured, not accepting deliverance; that they might obtain a better resurrection: | Les femmes ont recouvré leurs morts par le moyen de la résurrection; d'autres ont été étendus dans le tourment, ne tenant point compte d'être délivrés, afin d'obtenir la meilleure résurrection. |

| 37 | They were stoned, they were sawn asunder, were tempted, were slain with the sword: they wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins; being destitute, afflicted, tormented; | Ils ont été lapidés, ils ont été sciés, ils ont souffert de rudes épreuves, ils ont été mis à mort par le tranchant de l'épée, ils ont été errants çà et là, vêtus de peaux de brebis et de chèvres, réduits à la misère, affligés, tourmentés; |
| 38 | (Of whom the world was not worthy:) they wandered in deserts, and in mountains, and in dens and caves of the earth. | Desquels le monde n'était pas digne; errant dans les déserts, et dans les montagnes, dans les cavernes, et dans les trous de la terre. |
| 39 | And these all, having obtained a good report through faith, received not the promise: | Et quoiqu'ils aient tous été recommandables par leur foi, ils n'ont pourtant point reçu l'effet de la promesse; |
| 40 | God having provided some better thing for us, that they without us should not be made perfect. | Dieu ayant pourvu quelque chose de meilleur pour nous; en sorte qu'ils ne sont point parvenus à la perfection sans nous. |
