| 1 | Then Joseph could not refrain himself before all them that stood before him; and he cried, Cause every man to go out from me. And there stood no man with him, while Joseph made himself known unto his brethren. | Allora Giuseppe non poté più contenersi di fronte a tutti gli astanti e gridò: Fate uscire tutti dalla mia presenza!. Così nessuno rimase con Giuseppe quando egli si fece conoscere ai suoi fratelli. |
| 2 | And he wept aloud: and the Egyptians heard, and the house of Pharaoh heard. | E pianse così forte che gli Egiziani stessi lo udirono, e lo venne a sapere anche la casa del Faraone. |
| 3 | And Joseph said unto his brethren, I am Joseph; doth my father yet live? And his brethren could not answer him; for they were troubled at his presence. | Quindi Giuseppe disse ai suoi fratelli: Io sono Giuseppe; è mio padre ancora in vita?. Ma i suoi fratelli non gli potevano rispondere perché erano sgomenti alla sua presenza. |
| 4 | And Joseph said unto his brethren, Come near to me, I pray you. And they came near. And he said, I am Joseph your brother, whom ye sold into Egypt. | Allora Giuseppe disse ai suoi fratelli: Deh, avvicinatevi a me!. Quelli si avvicinarono, ed egli disse: Io sono Giuseppe, vostro fratello, che voi vendeste perché fosse condotto in Egitto. |
| 5 | And now be not grieved, nor angry with yourselves, that ye sold me hither: for God did send me before you to preserve life. | Ma ora non vi contristate e non vi dispiaccia di avermi venduto perché io fossi condotto quaggiù, poiché DIO mi ha mandato davanti a voi per conservarvi la vita. |
| 6 | For these two years hath the famine been in the land: and there are yet five years, in which there shall be neither plowing nor harvest. | Infatti è già due anni che vi è carestia nel paese; e ci saranno altri cinque anni, durante i quali non vi sarà né aratura né messe. |
| 7 | And God sent me before you to preserve you a remnant in the earth, and to save you alive by a great deliverance. | Ma DIO mi ha mandato davanti a voi perché sia conservato per voi un residuo sulla terra, e per salvarvi la vita con una grande liberazione. |
| 8 | So now it was not you that sent me hither, but God: and he hath made me a father to Pharaoh, and lord of all his house, and ruler over all the land of Egypt. | Non siete dunque voi che mi avete mandato qui, ma è DIO; egli mi ha stabilito come padre del Faraone, come signore di tutta la sua casa e governatore di tutto il paese d'Egitto. |
| 9 | Haste ye, and go up to my father, and say unto him, Thus saith thy son Joseph, God hath made me lord of all Egypt: come down unto me, tarry not; | Affrettatevi a ritornare da mio padre e ditegli: "Così dice tuo figlio Giuseppe: DIO mi ha stabilito come signore di tutto l'Egitto; scendi da me, non tardare; |
| 10 | and thou shalt dwell in the land of Goshen, and thou shalt be near unto me, thou, and thy children, and thy children`s children, and thy flocks, and thy herds, and all that thou hast: | tu dimorerai nel paese di Goscen e sarai vicino a me: tu e i tuoi figli, i figli dei tuoi figli, le tue greggi, i tuoi armenti e tutto quello che possiedi. |
| 11 | and there will I nourish thee; for there are yet five years of famine; lest thou come to poverty, thou, and thy household, and all that thou hast. | E là io ti sostenterò, perché ci saranno ancora cinque anni di carestia, affinché tu non sia ridotto in miseria: tu, la tua famiglia e tutto quello che possiedi". |
| 12 | And, behold, your eyes see, and the eyes of my brother Benjamin, that it is my mouth that speaketh unto you. | Ed ecco, i vostri occhi e gli occhi di mio fratello Beniamino vedono che è la mia bocca quella che vi parla. |
| 13 | And ye shall tell my father of all my glory in Egypt, and of all that ye have seen: and ye shall haste and bring down my father hither. | Raccontate dunque a mio padre tutta la mia gloria in Egitto e tutto quello che avete visto, e affrettatevi a condurre mio padre quaggiù. |
| 14 | And he fell upon his brother Benjamin`s neck, and wept; and Benjamin wept upon his neck. | Poi si gettò al collo di suo fratello Beniamino e pianse, e Beniamino pianse stretto al suo collo. |
| 15 | And he kissed all his brethren, and wept upon them: and after that his brethren talked with him. | Egli baciò pure tutti i suoi fratelli e pianse stretto a loro. Dopo questo, i suoi fratelli si misero a parlare con lui. |
| 16 | And the report thereof was heard in Pharaoh`s house, saying, Joseph`s brethren are come: and it pleased Pharaoh well, and his servants. | Il rumore della cosa si sparse nella casa del Faraone, e si disse: Sono arrivati i fratelli di Giuseppe. Questo fece piacere al Faraone e ai suoi servi. |
| 17 | And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, Say unto thy brethren, This do ye: lade your beasts, and go, get you unto the land of Canaan; | Allora il Faraone disse a Giuseppe: Di' ai tuoi fratelli: "Fate questo: Caricate le vostre bestie e andate; tornate nel paese di Canaan. |
| 18 | and take your father and your households, and come unto me: and I will give you the good of the land of Egypt, and ye shall eat the fat of the land. | Poi prendete vostro padre e le vostre famiglie, e venite da me; io vi darò il meglio del paese d'Egitto e mangerete i prodotti migliori del paese". |
| 19 | Now thou art commanded, this do ye: take you wagons out of the land of Egypt for your little ones, and for your wives, and bring your father, and come. | Tu hai l'ordine di dir loro: "Fate questo: Prendete con voi dal paese di Egitto dei carri per i vostri piccoli e per le vostre mogli; prendete vostro padre e venite. |
| 20 | Also regard not your stuff; for the good of all the land of Egypt is yours. | E non preoccupatevi per le vostre masserizie, perché il meglio di tutto il paese d'Egitto sarà vostro". |
| 21 | And the sons of Israel did so: and Joseph gave them wagons, according to the commandment of Pharaoh, and gave them provision for the way. | I figli di Israele fecero così, e Giuseppe diede loro dei carri, secondo l'ordine del Faraone, e diede loro delle provviste per il viaggio. |
| 22 | To all of them he gave each man changes of raiment; but to Benjamin he gave three hundred pieces of silver, and five changes of raiment. | A tutti diede un abito di ricambio per ciascuno; ma a Beniamino diede trecento sicli d'argento e cinque mute di vestiti; |
| 23 | And to his father he sent after this manner: ten asses laden with the good things of Egypt, and ten she-asses laden with grain and bread and provision for his father by the way. | e a suo padre mandò questo: dieci asini carichi delle migliori cose d'Egitto, dieci asine cariche di grano, di pane e di viveri per suo padre durante il viaggio. |
| 24 | So he sent his brethren away, and they departed: and he said unto them, See that ye fall not out by the way. | Così congedò i suoi fratelli e, mentre essi partivano, disse loro: Non fate litigi per la strada. |
| 25 | And they went up out of Egypt, and came into the land of Canaan unto Jacob their father. | Allora essi risalirono dall'Egitto e arrivarono nel paese di Canaan da Giacobbe, loro padre. |
| 26 | And they told him, saying, Joseph is yet alive, and he is ruler over all the land of Egypt. And his heart fainted, for he believed them not. | E gli riferirono ogni cosa, dicendo: Giuseppe è ancora in vita, ed è il governatore di tutto il paese d'Egitto. Ma il suo cuore rimase freddo, perché egli non credeva loro. |
| 27 | And they told him all the words of Joseph, which he had said unto them: and when he saw the wagons which Joseph had sent to carry him, the spirit of Jacob their father revived: | Quando però essi gli riferirono tutte le parole che Giuseppe aveva loro detto ed egli vide i carri che Giuseppe aveva mandato per condurlo via, allora lo spirito di Giacobbe loro padre si ravvivò, |
| 28 | and Israel said, It is enough; Joseph my son is yet alive: I will go and see him before I die. | e Israele disse: Basta; il mio figlio Giuseppe è ancora in vita; io andrò a vederlo prima di morire. |
