| 10 | And he said, I will certainly return unto thee according to the time of life; and, lo, Sarah thy wife shall have a son. And Sarah heard it in the tent door, which was behind him. | Et l'un d'entr'eux dit: Je ne manquerai pas de retourner vers toi en ce même temps où nous sommes, et voici, Sara ta femme aura un fils. Et Sara l'écoutait à la porte de la tente qui était derrière lui. | Et il dit : "je reviendrai chez toi à cette époque même, et voici, Sara, ta femme, aura un fils."Sara entendait ces paroles à l'entrée de la tente, derrière lui. | And he said, I will certainly return unto thee when the season cometh round; and, lo, Sarah thy wife shall have a son. | 11 | Now Abraham and Sarah were old and well stricken in age; and it ceased to be with Sarah after the manner of women. | Or Abraham et Sara étaient vieux, fort avancés en âge; et Sara n'avait plus ce que les femmes ont accoutumé d'avoir. | Or Abraham et Sara étaient vieux, avancés en jours ; | Now Abraham and Sarah were old, [and] well stricken in age; it had ceased to be with Sarah after the manner of women. |
| 12 | Therefore Sarah laughed within herself, saying, After I am waxed old shall I have pleasure, my lord being old also? | Et Sara rit en soi-même, et dit: Etant vieille, et mon Seigneur étant fort âgé, aurai-je cette satisfaction? | Sara était hors d'âge. - Sara rit en elle-même, en se disant : "Vieille comme je suis, connaîtrais-je encore le plaisir ? | 14 | Is any thing too hard for the LORD? At the time appointed I will return unto thee, according to the time of life, and Sarah shall have a son. | Y a-t-il quelque chose qui soit difficile à l'Eternel? Je retournerai vers toi en cette saison, en ce même temps où nous sommes, et Sara aura un fils. | Y a-t-il rien qui soit étonnant de la part de Yahweh ? Au temps fixé, je reviendrai vers toi, à cette même saison, et Sara aura un fils." | Is anything too hard for Jehovah? At the set time I will return unto thee, when the season cometh round, and Sarah shall have a son. |
| 15 | Then Sarah denied, saying, I laughed not; for she was afraid. And he said, Nay; but thou didst laugh. | Et Sara le nia, en disant: Je n'ai point ri; car elle eut peur. Mais il dit: Cela n'est pas; car tu as ri. | Sara nia, en disant "je n'ai pas ri "; car elle eut peur. | 18 | Seeing that Abraham shall surely become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth shall be blessed in him? | Puis qu'Abraham doit certainement devenir une nation grande et puissante, et que toutes les nations de la terre seront bénies en lui? | Car Abraham doit devenir une nation grande et forte, et toutes les nations de la terre seront bénies en lui. je l'ai choisi, | seeing that Abraham had surely become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth shall be blessed in him? |
| 19 | For I know him, that he will command his children and his household after him, and they shall keep the way of the LORD, to do justice and judgment; that the LORD may bring upon Abraham that which he hath spoken of him. | Car je le connais, et je sais qu'il commandera à ses enfants, et à sa maison après lui, de garder la voie de l'Eternel, pour faire ce qui est juste, et droit; afin que l'Eternel fasse venir sur Abraham tout ce qu'il lui a dit. | en effet, afin qu'il ordonne à ses fils et à sa maison après lui de garder la voie de Yahweh, en pratiquant l'équité et la justice, et qu'ainsi Yahweh accomplisse en faveur d'Abraham les promesses qu'il lui a faites." | For I have known him, to the end that he may command his children and his household after him, that they may keep the way of Jehovah, to do righteousness and justice; to the end that Jehovah may bring upon Abraham that which he hath spoken of him. |
| 20 | And the LORD said, Because the cry of Sodom and Gomorrah is great, and because their sin is very grievous; | Et l'Eternel dit: Parce que le cri de Sodome et de Gomorrhe est augmenté, et que leur péché est fort aggravé; | Et Yahweh dit : "Le cri qui s'élève de Sodome et de Gomorrhe est bien fort, et leur péché bien énorme. | And Jehovah said, Because the cry of Sodom and Gomorrah is great, and because their sin is very grievous; |
| 21 | I will go down now, and see whether they have done altogether according to the cry of it, which is come unto me; and if not, I will know. | Je descendrai maintenant, et je verrai s'ils ont fait entièrement selon le cri qui est venu jusqu'à moi; et si cela n'est pas, je le saurai. | Je veux descendre et voir si, selon le cri qui est venu jusqu'à moi, leur crime est arrivé au comble; et s'il n'en est pas ainsi, je le saurai." | I will go down now, and see whether they have done altogether according to the cry of it, which is come unto me; and if not, I will know. |
| 22 | And the men turned their faces from thence, and went toward Sodom: but Abraham stood yet before the LORD. | Ces hommes donc partant de là allaient vers Sodome; mais Abraham se tint encore devant l'Eternel. | Les hommes partirent et s'en allèrent vers Sodome; et Abraham se tenait encore devant Yahweh. | And the men turned from thence, and went toward Sodom: but Abraham stood yet before Jehovah. |
| 23 | And Abraham drew near, and said, Wilt thou also destroy the righteous with the wicked? | Et Abraham s'approcha, et dit: Feras-tu périr le juste même avec le méchant? | Abraham s'approcha et dit : "Est-ce que vous feriez périr aussi le juste avec le coupable ? | And Abraham drew near, and said, Wilt thou consume the righteous with the wicked? |
| 24 | Peradventure there be fifty righteous within the city: wilt thou also destroy and not spare the place for the fifty righteous that are therein? | Peut-être y a-t-il cinquante justes dans la ville, les feras-tu périr aussi? Ne pardonneras-tu point à la ville, à cause des cinquante justes qui y seront? | Peut-être y a-t-il cinquante justes dans la ville : les feriez-vous périr aussi, et ne pardonnerez-vous pas à cette ville à cause des cinquante justes qui s'y trouveraient ? | Peradventure there are fifty righteous within the city: wilt thou consume and not spare the place for the fifty righteous that are therein? |
| 25 | That be far from thee to do after this manner, to slay the righteous with the wicked: and that the righteous should be as the wicked, that be far from thee: Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right? | Non il n'arrivera pas que tu fasses une telle chose, que tu fasses mourir le juste avec le méchant, et que le juste soit traité comme le méchant! Non tu ne le feras point. Celui qui juge toute la terre ne fera-t-il point justice? | Loin de vous d'agir de la sorte, de faire mourir le juste avec le coupable! Ainsi il en serait du juste comme du coupable! Loin de vous ! Celui qui juge toute la terre ne rendrait-il pas justice ?" | That be far from thee to do after this manner, to slay the righteous with the wicked, that so the righteous should be as the wicked; that be far from thee: shall not the Judge of all the earth do right? |
| 26 | And the LORD said, If I find in Sodom fifty righteous within the city, then I will spare all the place for their sakes. | Et l'Eternel dit: Si je trouve en Sodome cinquante justes dans la ville, je pardonnerai à tout le lieu pour l'amour d'eux. | Yahweh dit : "Si je trouve à Sodome cinquante justes dans la ville, je pardonnerai à toute la ville à cause d'eux." | And Jehovah said, If I find in Sodom fifty righteous within the city, then I will spare all the place for their sake. |
| 27 | And Abraham answered and said, Behold now, I have taken upon me to speak unto the LORD, which am but dust and ashes: | Et Abraham répondit, en disant: Voici, j'ai pris maintenant la hardiesse de parler au Seigneur, quoique je ne sois que poudre et que cendre. | Abraham reprit et dit : "Voilà que j'ai osé parler au Seigneur, moi qui suis poussière et cendre. | And Abraham answered and said, Behold now, I have taken upon me to speak unto the Lord, who am but dust and ashes: |
| 28 | Peradventure there shall lack five of the fifty righteous: wilt thou destroy all the city for lack of five? And he said, If I find there forty and five, I will not destroy it. | Peut-être en manquera-t-il cinq des cinquante justes; détruiras-tu toute la ville pour ces cinq-là? Et il lui répondit: Je ne la détruirai point, si j'y en trouve quarante-cinq. | Peut-être que des cinquante justes il en manquera cinq ; pour cinq hommes détruirez-vous toute la ville ?"Il dit : "le ne la détruirai pas, si j'en trouve quarante-cinq." | peradventure there shall lack five of the fifty righteous: wilt thou destroy all the city for lack of five? And he said, I will not destroy it, if I find there forty and five. |
| 29 | And he spake unto him yet again, and said, Peradventure there shall be forty found there. And he said, I will not do it for forty's sake. | Et Abraham continua de lui parler, en disant: Peut-être s'y en trouvera-t- il quarante? Et il dit: Je ne la détruirai point pour l'amour des quarante. | Abraham continua encore à lui parler et dit : "Peut-être s'y trouvera-t-il quarante justes."Et il dit : "je ne le ferai pas, à cause de ces quarante." | And he spake unto him yet again, and said, Peradventure there shall be forty found there. And he said, I will not do it for the forty`s sake. |
| 30 | And he said unto him, Oh let not the LORD be angry, and I will speak: Peradventure there shall thirty be found there. And he said, I will not do it, if I find thirty there. | Et Abraham dit: Je prie le Seigneur de ne s'irriter pas si je parle encore; peut-être s'en trouvera-t-il trente? Et il dit: Je ne la détruirai point, si j'y en trouve trente. | Abraham dit : "Que le Seigneur veuille ne pas s'irriter, si je parle ! Peut-être s'en trouvera-t-il trente."Et il dit : "je ne le ferai pas, si j'en trouve trente." | And he said, Oh let not the Lord be angry, and I will speak: peradventure there shall thirty be found there. And he said, I will not do it, if I find thirty there. |
| 31 | And he said, Behold now, I have taken upon me to speak unto the LORD: Peradventure there shall be twenty found there. And he said, I will not destroy it for ten's sake. | Et Abraham dit: Je prie le Seigneur de ne s'irriter pas, je parlerai encore une seule fois; peut-être s'y en trouvera-t-il dix. Et il dit: Je ne la détruirai point pour l'amour des dix. | Abraham dit : "Que le Seigneur veuille ne pas s'irriter, et je ne parlerai plus que cette fois : Peut-être s'en trouvera-t-il dix."Et il dit : "A cause de ces dix, je ne la détruirai point." | And he said, Oh let not the Lord be angry, and I will speak yet but this once: peradventure ten shall be found there. And he said, I will not destroy it for the ten`s sake. |
| 33 | And the LORD went his way, as soon as he had left communing with Abraham: and Abraham returned unto his place. | Et l'Eternel s'en alla quand il eut achevé de parler avec Abraham; et Abraham s'en retourna en son lieu. | Yahweh s'en alla, lorsqu'il eut achevé de parler à Abraham, et Abraham retourna chez lui. | And Jehovah went his way, as soon as he had left off communing with Abraham: and Abraham returned unto his place. |
