| 1 | Après ces événements, la parole de l'Éternel fut adressée à Abram dans une vision, et il dit : Abram, ne crains point ; je suis ton bouclier, et ta récompense sera très grande. | After these things the word of Jehovah came unto Abram in a vision, saying, Fear not, Abram: I am thy shield, [and] thy exceeding great reward. | Dopo queste cose, la parola dell'Eterno fu rivolta in visione ad Abramo, dicendo: Non temere o Abramo, io sono il tuo scudo, e la tua ricompensa sarà grandissima. |

Je m'en vais sans enfants ; et l'héritier de ma maison, c'est Éliézer de Damas. | And Abram said, O Lord Jehovah, what wilt thou give me, seeing I go childless, and he that shall be possessor of my house is Eliezer of Damascus? | Ma Abramo disse: Signore, Eterno, che mi darai, perché sono senza figli e l'erede della mia casa è Eliezer di Damasco?. |
| 3 | Et Abram dit : Voici, tu ne m'as pas donné de postérité, et celui qui est né dans ma maison sera mon héritier. | And Abram said, Behold, to me thou hast given no seed: and, lo, one born in my house is mine heir. | Poi Abramo soggiunse: tu non mi hai dato alcuna discendenza; Ora ecco, uno nato in casa mia sarà mio erede. |
| 4 | Alors la parole de l'Éternel lui fut adressée ainsi : Ce n'est pas lui qui sera ton héritier, mais c'est celui qui sortira de tes entrailles qui sera ton héritier. | And, behold, the word of Jehovah came unto him, saying, This man shall not be thine heir; But he that shall come forth out of thine own bowels shall be thine heir. | Allora la parola dell'Eterno gli fu rivolta, dicendo: Questi non sarà tuo erede; ma colui che uscirà dalle tue viscere sarà tuo erede. |
| 5 | Et après l'avoir conduit dehors, il dit : Regarde vers le ciel, et compte les étoiles, si tu peux les compter. Et il lui dit : Telle sera ta postérité. | And he brought him forth abroad, and said, Look now toward heaven, and number the stars, if thou be able to number them: and he said unto him, So shall thy seed be. | Poi lo condusse fuori e gli disse: Mira il cielo e conta le stelle, se le puoi contare, quindi aggiunse: Così sarà la tua discendenza. |
| 6 | Abram eut confiance en l'Éternel, qui le lui imputa à justice. | And he believed in Jehovah; and he reckoned it to him for righteousness. | Ed egli credette all'Eterno, che glielo mise in conto di giustizia. |
| 7 | L'Éternel lui dit encore : Je suis l'Éternel, qui t'ai fait sortir d'Ur en Chaldée, pour te donner en possession ce pays. | And he said unto him, I am Jehovah that brought thee out of Ur of the Chaldees, to give thee this land to inherit it. | Poi l'Eterno gli disse: Io sono l'Eterno che ti ho fatto uscire da Ur dei Caldei, per darti questo paese in eredità. |
| 8 | Abram répondit : Seigneur Éternel, à quoi connaîtrai-je que je le posséderai ? | And he said, O Lord Jehovah, whereby shall I know that I shall inherit it? | E Abramo chiese: Signore, Eterno da che cosa posso io sapere che l'avrò in eredità?. |
| 9 | Et l'Éternel lui dit : Prends une génisse de trois ans, une chèvre de trois ans, un bélier de trois ans, une tourterelle et une jeune colombe. | And he said unto him, Take me a heifer three years old, and a she-goat three years old, and a ram three years old, and a turtle-dove, and a young pigeon. | Allora l'Eterno gli disse: Portami una giovenca di tre anni, una capra di tre anni, un montone di tre anni, una tortora e un piccione giovane. |
| 10 | Abram prit tous ces animaux, les coupa par le milieu, et mit chaque morceau l'un vis-à-vis de l'autre ; mais il ne partagea point les oiseaux. | And he took him all these, and divided them in the midst, and laid each half over against the other: but the birds divided he not. | Allora Abramo gli portò tutti questi animali, li divise in due e pose ciascuna metà di fronte all'altra; ma non divise gli uccelli. |
| 11 | Les oiseaux de proie s'abattirent sur les cadavres ; et Abram les chassa. | And the birds of prey came down upon the carcasses, and Abram drove them away. | Ora alcuni uccelli rapaci calarono sulle bestie morte ma Abramo li scacciò. |
| 12 | Au coucher du soleil, un profond sommeil tomba sur Abram ; et voici, une frayeur et une grande obscurité vinrent l'assaillir. | And when the sun was going down, a deep sleep fell upon Abram; and, lo, a horror of great darkness fell upon him. | Verso il tramontare del sole, un profondo sonno cadde su Abramo; ed ecco, uno spavento una oscurità profonda caddero su di lui. |
| 13 | Et l'Éternel dit à Abram : Sache que tes descendants seront étrangers dans un pays qui ne sera point à eux ; ils y seront asservis, et on les opprimera pendant quatre cents ans. | And he said unto Abram, Know of a surety that thy seed shall be sojourners in a land that is not theirs, and shall serve them; and they shall afflict them four hundred years; | Allora l'Eterno disse ad Abramo: Sappi per certo che i tuoi discendenti dimoreranno come stranieri in un paese che non sarà loro, e vi saranno schiavi e saranno oppressi per quattrocento anni. |
| 14 | Mais je jugerai la nation à laquelle ils seront asservis, et ils sortiront ensuite avec de grandes richesses. | and also that nation, whom they shall serve, will I judge: and afterward shall they come out with great substance. | Ma io giudicherò la nazione di cui saranno stati servi; dopo questo, essi usciranno con grandi ricchezze. |
| 15 | Toi, tu iras en paix vers tes pères, tu seras enterré après une heureuse vieillesse. | But thou shalt go to thy fathers in peace; thou shalt be buried in a good old age. | Quanto a te, te ne andrai in pace presso i tuoi padri, e sarai sepolto dopo una bella vecchiaia. |
| 16 | A la quatrième génération, ils reviendront ici ; car l'iniquité des Amoréens n'est pas encore à son comble. | And in the fourth generation they shall come hither again; for the iniquity of the Amorite is not yet full. | Ma alla quarta generazione essi torneranno qui, perché l'iniquità degli Amorei non è ancora giunta al colmo. |
| 17 | Quand le soleil fut couché, il y eut une obscurité profonde ; et voici, ce fut une fournaise fumante, et des flammes passèrent entre les animaux partagés. | And it came to pass, that, when the sun went down, and it was dark, behold, a smoking furnace, and a flaming torch that passed between these pieces. | Ora come il sole si fu coricato e scesero le tenebre, ecco una fornace fumante ed una torcia di fuoco passare in mezzo agli animali divisi. |
| 18 | En ce jour-là, l'Éternel fit alliance avec Abram, et dit : Je donne ce pays à ta postérité, depuis le fleuve d'Égypte jusqu'au grand fleuve, au fleuve d'Euphrate, | In that day Jehovah made a covenant with Abram, saying, Unto thy seed have I given this land, from the river of Egypt unto the great river, the river Euphrates: | In quel giorno l'Eterno fece un patto con Abramo dicendo: Io do alla tua discendenza questo paese, dal torrente d'Egitto al grande fiume, il fiume Eufrate: |
