| 1 | And he said unto Moses, Come up unto the LORD, thou, and Aaron, Nadab, and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel; and worship ye afar off. | Puis il dit à Moïse: monte vers l'Eternel, toi et Aaron, Nadab et Abihu, et soixante et dix des Anciens d'Israël; et vous vous prosternerez de loin. |
| 2 | And Moses alone shall come near the LORD: but they shall not come nigh; neither shall the people go up with him. | Et Moïse s'approchera seul de l'Eternel, mais eux ne s'en approcheront point, et le peuple ne montera point avec lui. |
| 3 | And Moses came and told the people all the words of the LORD, and all the judgments: and all the people answered with one voice, and said, All the words which the LORD hath said will we do. | Alors Moïse vint, et récita au peuple toutes les paroles de l'Eternel, et toutes ses lois, et tout le peuple répondit tout d'une voix, et dit: Nous ferons toutes les choses que l'Eternel a dites. |
| 4 | And Moses wrote all the words of the LORD, and rose up early in the morning, and builded an altar under the hill, and twelve pillars, according to the twelve tribes of Israel. | Or Moïse écrivit toutes les paroles de l'Eternel, et s'étant levé de bon matin, il bâtit un autel au bas de la montagne, et dressa pour monument douze pierres pour les douze Tribus d'Israël. |
| 5 | And he sent young men of the children of Israel, which offered burnt offerings, and sacrificed peace offerings of oxen unto the LORD. | Et il envoya des jeunes hommes des enfants d'Israël qui offrirent des holocaustes, et qui sacrifièrent des veaux à l'Eternel, en sacrifices de prospérités. |
| 6 | And Moses took half of the blood, and put it in basons; and half of the blood he sprinkled on the altar. | Et Moïse prit la moitié du sang, et le mit dans des bassins, et répandit l'autre moitié sur l'autel. |
| 7 | And he took the book of the covenant, and read in the audience of the people: and they said, All that the LORD hath said will we do, and be obedient. | Ensuite il prit le livre de l'alliance, et le lut, le peuple l'écoutant, qui dit: Nous ferons tout ce que l'Eternel a dit, et nous obéirons. |
| 8 | And Moses took the blood, and sprinkled it on the people, and said, Behold the blood of the covenant, which the LORD hath made with you concerning all these words. | Moïse donc prit le sang, et le répandit sur le peuple, en disant: Voici le sang de l'alliance que l'Eternel a traitée avec vous, selon toutes ces paroles. |
| 9 | Then went up Moses, and Aaron, Nadab, and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel: | Puis Moïse, Aaron, Nadab, Abihu, et les soixante et dix Anciens d'Israël montèrent; |
| 10 | And they saw the God of Israel: and there was under his feet as it were a paved work of a sapphire stone, and as it were the body of heaven in his clearness. | Et ils virent le Dieu d'Israël, et sous ses pieds comme un ouvrage de carreaux de saphir, qui ressemblait au ciel lorsqu'il est serein. |
| 11 | And upon the nobles of the children of Israel he laid not his hand: also they saw God, and did eat and drink. | Et il ne mit point sa main sur ceux qui avaient été choisis d'entre les enfants d'Israël; ainsi ils virent Dieu, et ils mangèrent et burent. |
| 12 | And the LORD said unto Moses, Come up to me into the mount, and be there: and I will give thee tables of stone, and a law, and commandments which I have written; that thou mayest teach them. | Et l'Eternel dit à Moïse: monte vers moi sur la montagne, et demeure là; et je te donnerai des tables de pierre, et la loi et les commandements que j'ai écrits, pour les enseigner. |
| 13 | And Moses rose up, and his minister Joshua: and Moses went up into the mount of God. | Alors Moïse se leva avec Josué qui le servait; et Moïse monta sur la montagne de Dieu; |
| 14 | And he said unto the elders, Tarry ye here for us, until we come again unto you: and, behold, Aaron and Hur are with you: if any man have any matters to do, let him come unto them. | Et il dit aux Anciens d'Israël: Demeurez ici en nous attendant; jusqu'à ce que nous retournions vers vous; et voici, Aaron et Hur seront avec vous; quiconque aura quelque affaire, qu'il s'adresse à eux. |
| 15 | And Moses went up into the mount, and a cloud covered the mount. | Moïse donc monta sur la montagne, et une nuée couvrit la montagne. |
| 16 | And the glory of the LORD abode upon mount Sinai, and the cloud covered it six days: and the seventh day he called unto Moses out of the midst of the cloud. | Et la gloire de l'Eternel demeura sur la montagne de Sinaï, et la nuée la couvrit pendant six jours; et au septième jour il appela Moïse au milieu de la nuée. |
| 17 | And the sight of the glory of the LORD was like devouring fire on the top of the mount in the eyes of the children of Israel. | Et ce qu'on voyait de la gloire de l'Eternel au sommet de la montagne, était comme un feu consumant, les enfants d'Israël le voyant. |
| 18 | And Moses went into the midst of the cloud, and gat him up into the mount: and Moses was in the mount forty days and forty nights. | Et Moïse entra dans la nuée, et monta sur la montagne; et Moïse fut sur la montagne quarante jours et quarante nuits. |
