| 2 | And Shechaniah the son of Jehiel, one of the sons of Elam, answered and said unto Ezra, We have trespassed against our God, and have taken strange wives of the people of the land: yet now there is hope in Israel concerning this thing. | Alors Shécania, fils de Jéhiel, des enfants d'Élam, prit la parole, et dit à Esdras: Nous avons péché contre notre Dieu, en prenant des femmes étrangères d'entre les peuples de ce pays. | 3 | Now therefore let us make a covenant with our God to put away all the wives, and such as are born of them, according to the counsel of my lord, and of those that tremble at the commandment of our God; and let it be done according to the law. | Engageons-nous maintenant, par alliance avec notre Dieu, à renvoyer toutes ces femmes et tout ce qui est né d'elles, selon le conseil de mon seigneur et de ceux qui tremblent au commandement de notre Dieu; et que l'on fasse selon la loi. | Ora dunque facciamo un patto con il nostro DIO, di rimandare tutte queste donne e i figli nati da esse, secondo il consiglio del Signore e di quelli che tremano al comando del nostro DIO. E si faccia secondo la legge. |
| 4 | Arise; for this matter belongeth unto thee: we also will be with thee: be of good courage, and do it. | Lève-toi; car cette affaire te regarde, et nous serons avec toi. Prends donc courage, et agis. | Alzati perché questa cosa spetta a te; noi saremo con te. Fatti coraggio e agisci!. |
| 5 | Then arose Ezra, and made the chief priests, the Levites, and all Israel, to swear that they should do according to this word. And they sware. | Alors Esdras se leva, et il fit jurer aux chefs des sacrificateurs, des Lévites et de tout Israël, qu'ils feraient selon cette parole; et ils le jurèrent. | Allora Esdra si alzò e fece giurare ai capi dei sacerdoti, ai Leviti, e a tutto Israele che farebbero com'era stato detto. | 6 | Then Ezra rose up from before the house of God, and went into the chamber of Johanan the son of Eliashib: and when he came thither, he did eat no bread, nor drink water: for he mourned because of the transgression of them that had been carried away. | Puis Esdras se leva de devant la maison de Dieu, et s'en alla dans la chambre de Jochanan, fils d'Éliashib, et y entra; et il ne mangea point de pain et ne but point d'eau, parce qu'il était en deuil à cause du péché de ceux de la captivité. | Poi Esdra si alzò davanti alla casa di DIO e andò nella camera di Jehohanan, figlio di Eliascib. Mentre era là, egli non mangiò pane né bevve acqua, perché faceva cordoglio per il peccato dei reduci dalla cattività. |
| 7 | And they made proclamation throughout Judah and Jerusalem unto all the children of the captivity, that they should gather themselves together unto Jerusalem; | Alors on publia, en Juda et à Jérusalem, que tous les enfants de la captivité eussent à s'assembler à Jérusalem. | E si fece un proclama in Giuda e a Gerusalemme, per tutti i reduci dalla cattività, affinché si radunassero a Gerusalemme; |
| 8 | And that whosoever would not come within three days, according to the counsel of the princes and the elders, all his substance should be forfeited, and himself separated from the congregation of those that had been carried away. | Et que si quelqu'un ne s'y rendait pas dans trois jours, selon l'avis des principaux et des anciens, tout son bien serait mis en interdit, et qu'il serait séparé de l'assemblée de ceux de la captivité. | se qualcuno non fosse venuto entro tre giorni secondo il consiglio dei capi e degli anziani, tutti i suoi beni sarebbero stati confiscati e lui stesso sarebbe stato escluso dall'assemblea dei reduci dalla cattività. |
| 9 | Then all the men of Judah and Benjamin gathered themselves together unto Jerusalem within three days. It was the ninth month, on the twentieth day of the month; and all the people sat in the street of the house of God, trembling because of this matter, and for the great rain. | Ainsi tous ceux de Juda et de Benjamin s'assemblèrent à Jérusalem dans les trois jours; ce fut au neuvième mois, le vingtième jour du mois; et tout le peuple se tint sur la place de la maison de Dieu, tremblant au sujet de cette affaire, et à cause des pluies. | Così tutti gli uomini di Giuda e di Beniamino si radunarono a Gerusalemme entro tre giorni. Era il ventesimo giorno del nono mese. Tutto il popolo prese posto nella piazza della casa di DIO, tremante a motivo di questa cosa e per la forte pioggia. |
| 10 | And Ezra the priest stood up, and said unto them, Ye have transgressed, and have taken strange wives, to increase the trespass of Israel. | Puis Esdras, le sacrificateur, se leva et leur dit: Vous avez péché, en prenant chez vous des femmes étrangères, et vous avez ainsi rendu Israël plus coupable. | Allora il sacerdote Esdra si levò e disse loro: Voi avete peccato, sposando donne straniere, e avete così accresciuto la colpa d'Israele. |
| 11 | Now therefore make confession unto the LORD God of your fathers, and do his pleasure: and separate yourselves from the people of the land, and from the strange wives. | Mais maintenant, faites la confession de votre faute à l'Éternel, le Dieu de vos pères, et faites sa volonté. | 12 | Then all the congregation answered and said with a loud voice, As thou hast said, so must we do. | Et toute l'assemblée répondit, et dit à haute voix: Oui, il faut que nous fassions comme tu dis. | Allora tutta l'assemblea rispose e disse a gran voce: Sì, dobbiamo fare come tu hai detto! |
| 13 | But the people are many, and it is a time of much rain, and we are not able to stand without, neither is this a work of one day or two: for we are many that have transgressed in this thing. | Mais le peuple est nombreux, et c'est le temps des pluies, et il n'y a pas moyen de se tenir dehors; et ce n'est pas une affaire d'un jour, ni de deux; car nous sommes un grand nombre qui avons péché dans cette affaire. | Ma il popolo è numeroso ed è la stagione delle grandi piogge; non è quindi possibile restare all'aperto. Non è certo il lavoro di un giorno o due, perché siamo in molti ad aver peccato in questo. |
| 14 | Let now our rulers of all the congregation stand, and let all them which have taken strange wives in our cities come at appointed times, and with them the elders of every city, and the judges thereof, until the fierce wrath of our God for this matter be turned from us. | Que nos chefs de toute l'assemblée demeurent donc; et que tous ceux qui dans nos villes ont introduit chez eux des femmes étrangères, viennent à des époques déterminées, avec les anciens et les juges de chaque ville, jusqu'à ce que l'ardeur de la colère de notre Dieu au sujet de cette affaire, se soit détournée de nous. | Rimangano qui perciò i nostri capi al posto dell'intera assemblea e tutti quelli che nelle nostre città hanno sposato donne straniere vengano in tempi determinati assieme agli anziani e ai giudici di ogni città, finché non sia allontanata da noi l'ardente ira del nostro DIO a motivo di questa cosa. |
| 15 | Only Jonathan the son of Asahel and Jahaziah the son of Tikvah were employed about this matter: and Meshullam and Shabbethai the Levite helped them. | Il n'y eut que Jonathan, fils d'Asaël, et Jachzia, fils de Thikva, qui s'opposèrent à cela; et Méshullam et Shabbéthaï, le Lévite, les appuyèrent. | Soltanto Gionathan, figlio di Asahel, e Jahziah, figlio di Tikvah, si opposero a questo, appoggiati da Meshullam e dal Levita Shabbethai. |
| 16 | And the children of the captivity did so. And Ezra the priest, with certain chief of the fathers, after the house of their fathers, and all of them by their names, were separated, and sat down in the first day of the tenth month to examine the matter. | Mais les enfants de la captivité firent ainsi: On choisit Esdras, le sacrificateur, et les chefs des pères, selon les maisons de leurs pères, tous désignés par leurs noms. Ils siégèrent au premier jour du dixième mois, pour s'informer de cette affaire. | Così i reduci dalla cattività fecero com'era stato detto e furono scelti il sacerdote Esdra e alcuni capi-famiglia secondo le loro case patriarcali, tutti designati per nome, essi iniziarono le sedute il primo giorno del decimo mese per esaminare i vari casi. |

| 18 | And among the sons of the priests there were found that had taken strange wives: namely, of the sons of Jeshua the son of Jozadak, and his brethren; Maaseiah, and Eliezer, and Jarib, and Gedaliah. | Parmi les fils des sacrificateurs, il s'en trouva qui avaient pris chez eux des femmes étrangères; d'entre les enfants de Jéshua, fils de Jotsadak, et d'entre ses frères: Maaséja, Éliézer, Jarib et Guédalia; | Tra i figli dei sacerdoti che avevano sposato donne straniere si trovarono: dei figli di Jeshua il figlio di Jotsadak, e tra i suoi fratelli: Maaseiah, Eliezer, Jarib e Ghedaliah. |
