| 1 | At that time Merodach-baladan the son of Baladan, king of Babylon, sent letters and a present to Hezekiah; for he heard that he had been sick, and was recovered. | In quel tempo Merodak-Baladan figlio di Baladan, re di Babilonia inviò lettere e un dono a Ezechia, perché aveva udito che era stato ammalato ed era guarito. |
| 2 | And Hezekiah was glad of them, and showed them the house of his precious things, the silver, and the gold, and the spices, and the precious oil, and all the house of his armor, and all that was found in his treasures: there was nothing in his house, nor in all his dominion, that Hezekiah showed them not. | Ezechia se ne rallegrò e mostrò agli inviati la casa dei suoi tesori, l'argento l'oro, gli aromi, l'unguento prezioso, tutto il suo arsenale e tutto ciò che si trovava nei suoi tesori, non ci fu nulla del suo palazzo e in tutto il suo regno che Ezechia non mostrasse loro. |
| 3 | Then came Isaiah the prophet unto king Hezekiah, and said unto him, What said these men? and from whence came they unto thee? And Hezekiah said, They are come from a far country unto me, even from Babylon. | Allora il profeta Isaia venne dal re Ezechia e gli disse: Che cosa hanno detto quegli uomini e da dove sono venuti a te?. | 4 | Then said he, What have they seen in thy house? And Hezekiah answered, All that is in my house have they seen: there is nothing among my treasures that I have not showed them. | Isaia domandò ancora: Che cosa hanno visto nel tuo palazzo?. Ezechia rispose: Hanno visto tutto ciò che si trova nel mio palazzo, non c'è nulla nei miei tesori che non abbia mostrato loro. |
| 5 | Then said Isaiah to Hezekiah, Hear the word of Jehovah of hosts: | Allora Isaia disse a Ezechia: Ascolta la parola dell'Eterno degli eserciti: |
| 6 | Behold, the days are coming, when all that is in thy house, and that which thy fathers have laid up in store until this day, shall be carried to Babylon: nothing shall be left, saith Jehovah. | Ecco, verranno giorni in cui tutto ciò che si trova nel tuo palazzo e ciò che i tuoi padri hanno accumulato fino a oggi sarà trasportato a Babilonia; non vi resterà nulla, dice l'Eterno. |
| 7 | And of thy sons that shall issue from thee, whom thou shalt beget, shall they take away; and they shall be eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon. | Prenderanno inoltre i figli che saranno usciti da te e che tu avrai generato, e ne faranno degli eunuchi nel palazzo del re di Babilonia. |
| 8 | Then said Hezekiah unto Isaiah, Good is the word of Jehovah which thou hast spoken. He said moreover, For there shall be peace and truth in my days. | Ezechia disse quindi a Isaia: La parola dell'Eterno che hai pronunciata è buona. Poi aggiunse: Vi sarà almeno pace e sicurezza durante la mia vita. |
