| 1 | En ce jour-là, l'Éternel visitera de son épée, dure et grande et forte, le léviathan, serpent fuyard, le léviathan, serpent tortueux; et il tuera le monstre qui est dans la mer. | In that day Jehovah with his hard and great and strong sword will punish leviathan the swift serpent, and leviathan the crooked serpent; and he will slay the monster that is in the sea. |
| 2 | En ce jour-là, il y aura une vigne de vin pur; chantez à son sujet: | In that day: A vineyard of wine, sing ye unto it. |
| 3 | Moi, l'Éternel, j'en prends soin; à tout moment je l'arroserai; de peur qu'on ne la visite, j'en prendrai soin nuit et jour. | I Jehovah am its keeper; I will water it every moment: lest any hurt it, I will keep it night and day. |
| 4 | Il n'y a pas en moi de fureur. Oh! si j'avais les ronces et les épines en bataille contre moi, je marcherais contre elles; je les brûlerais ensemble. | Wrath is not in me: would that the briers and thorns were against me in battle! I would march upon them, I would burn them together. |
| 5 | Ou bien, qu'il saisisse ma force, qu'il fasse la paix avec moi, qu'il fasse la paix avec moi! | Or else let him take hold of my strength, that he may make peace with me; [yea], let him make peace with me. |
| 6 | Dorénavant Jacob prendra racine, Israël fleurira et poussera, et remplira de fruits la face du monde. | In days to come shall Jacob take root; Israel shall blossom and bud; and they shall fill the face of the world with fruit. |
| 7 | L'a-t-il frappé selon le coup de ceux qui l'ont frappé? A-t-il été tué selon la tuerie de ceux qu'il a tués? | Hath he smitten them as he smote those that smote them? or are they slain according to the slaughter of them that were slain by them? |
| 8 | C'est avec mesure que tu as contesté avec elle, lorsque tu l'as renvoyée. Il l'ôtera par son vent fort, au jour de son vent d'orient. | In measure, when thou sendest them away, thou dost contend with them; he hath removed [them] with his rough blast in the day of the east wind. |
| 9 | C'est pourquoi par cela est expiée l'iniquité de Jacob. Et ceci est tout le fruit de ce que son péché est ôté: quand il rendra toutes les pierres de l'autel comme des pierres calcaires désagrégées, les ashères et les colonnes consacrées au soleil ne se relèveront pas. | Therefore by this shall the iniquity of Jacob be forgiven, and this is all the fruit of taking away his sin: that he maketh all the stones of the altar as chalkstones that are beaten in sunder, [so that] the Asherim and the sun-images shall rise no more. |
| 10 | Car la ville forte est solitaire, une demeure abandonnée et délaissée comme le désert; le veau y paîtra et y couchera, et en broutera les rameaux. | For the fortified city is solitary, a habitation deserted and forsaken, like the wilderness: there shall the calf feed, and there shall he lie down, and consume the branches thereof. |
| 11 | Quand ses branches seront séchées, elles seront cassées; les femmes viendront et y mettront le feu. Car ce n'est pas un peuple qui ait de l'intelligence; c'est pourquoi celui qui l'a fait n'en aura pas compassion, et celui qui l'a formé n'usera pas de grâce envers lui. | When the boughs thereof are withered, they shall be broken off; the women shall come, and set them on fire; for it is a people of no understanding: therefore he that made them will not have compassion upon them, and he that formed them will show them no favor. |
| 12 | Et il arrivera en ce jour-là que l'Éternel battra au fléau depuis le courant du fleuve jusqu'au torrent d'Égypte, et vous serez rassemblés un à un, fils d'Israël! | And it shall come to pass in that day, that Jehovah will beat off [his fruit] from the flood of the River unto the brook of Egypt; and ye shall be gathered one by one, O ye children of Israel. |
| 13 | Et il arrivera en ce jour-là qu'on sonnera de la grande trompette; et ceux qui périssaient dans le pays d'Assyrie, et les exilés du pays d'Égypte, viendront et se prosterneront devant l'Éternel, en la montagne sainte, à Jérusalem. | And it shall come to pass in that day, that a great trumpet shall be blown; and they shall come that were ready to perish in the land of Assyria, and they that were outcasts in the land of Egypt; and they shall worship Jehovah in the holy mountain at Jerusalem. |
