| 2 | puisque vous avez appris la dispensation de la grâce de Dieu qui m'a été donnée pour vous, | if so be that ye have heard of the dispensation of that grace of God which was given me to you-ward; |
| 3 | comment c'est par révélation que j'ai eu connaissance du mystère que je viens d'exposer en peu de mots. | how that by revelation was made known unto me the mystery, as I wrote before in few words, |
| 4 | Vous pouvez, en les lisant, reconnaître l'intelligence que j'ai du mystère du Christ. | whereby, when ye read, ye can perceive my understanding in the mystery of Christ; |
| 5 | Il n'a pas été manifesté aux hommes dans les âges antérieurs, comme il a été révélé de nos jours par l'Esprit aux saints apôtres et prophètes de Jésus-Christ. | which in other generation was not made known unto the sons of men, as it hath now been revealed unto his holy apostles and prophets in the Spirit; |
| 6 | Ce mystère, c'est que les Gentils sont héritiers avec les Juifs, et membres du même corps et qu'ils participent à la promesse de Dieu en Jésus-Christ par l'Evangile, | [to wit], that the Gentiles are fellow-heirs, and fellow-members of the body, and fellow-partakers of the promise in Christ Jesus through the gospel, |
| 7 | dont je suis devenu ministre selon le don de la grâce de Dieu qui m'a été accordée par son opération toute-puissante. | whereof I was made a minister, according to the gift of that grace of God which was given me according to the working of his power. |
| 8 | C'est à moi, le moindre de tous les saints, qu'a été accordée cette grâce d'annoncer parmi les Gentils la richesse incompréhensible du Christ, | Unto me, who am less than the least of all saints, was this grace given, to preach unto the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ; |
| 9 | et de mettre en lumière, aux yeux de tous, l'économie du mystère qui avait été caché depuis le commencement en Dieu, le Créateur de toutes choses, | and to make all men see what is the dispensation of the mystery which for ages hath been hid in God who created all things; |
| 10 | afin que les principautés et les puissances dans les cieux connaissent aujourd'hui, à la vue de l'Eglise, la sagesse infiniment variée de Dieu, | to the intent that now unto the principalities and the powers in the heavenly [places] might be made known through the church the manifold wisdom of God, |
| 11 | selon le dessein éternel qu'il a réalisé par Jésus-Christ Notre-Seigneur, | according to the eternal purpose which he purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord: |
| 12 | en qui nous avons, par la foi en lui, la hardiesse de nous approcher de Dieu avec confiance. | in whom we have boldness and access in confidence through our faith in him. |
| 13 | C'est pourquoi je vous prie de ne pas vous laisser décourager à cause des afflictions que j'endure pour vous : elles sont votre gloire. | Wherefore I ask that ye may not faint at my tribulations for you, which are your glory. |
| 14 | A cause de cela, je fléchis le genou devant le Père, | For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father, |
| 15 | de qui tire son nom toute famille dans les cieux et sur le terre, | from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, |
| 16 | afin qu'il vous donne, selon les trésors de sa gloire, d'être puissamment fortifiés par son Esprit en vue de l'homme intérieur, | that he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, that ye may be strengthened with power through his Spirit in the inward man; |
| 17 | et que le Christ habite dans vos coeurs par la foi, de sorte que, étant enracinés et fondés dans la charité, | that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; to the end that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, |
| 18 | vous deveniez capables de comprendre avec tous les saints quelle est la largeur et la longueur, la profondeur et la hauteur, | may be strong to apprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, |
| 19 | même de connaître l'amour du Christ, qui surpasse toute connaissance, en sorte que vous soyez remplis de toute la plénitude de Dieu. | and to know the love of Christ which passeth knowledge, that ye may be filled unto all the fulness of God. |
| 20 | A celui qui peut faire, par la puissance qui agit en nous, infiniment au delà de ce que nous demandons et concevons, | Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, |
| 21 | à Lui soit la gloire dans l'Eglise et en Jésus-Christ, dans tous les âges, aux siècles des siècles ! Amen ! | unto him [be] the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus unto all generations for ever and ever. Amen. |
