| 1 | Prends garde à ton pied, quand tu vas dans la maison de Dieu, et approche-toi pour entendre, plutôt que pour donner le sacrifice des sots; car ils ne savent pas qu'ils font mal. | Keep thy foot when thou goest to the house of God, and be more ready to hear, than to give the sacrifice of fools: for they consider not that they do evil. | Bada ai tuoi passi quando vai alla casa di DIO: avvicinati per ascoltare piuttosto che per offrire il sacrificio degli stolti, i quali non sanno neppure di far male. |
| 2 | Ne te presse point de ta bouche, et que ton coeur ne se hâte point de proférer une parole devant Dieu; car Dieu est dans les cieux, et toi sur la terre: c'est pourquoi, que tes paroles soient peu nombreuses. | Be not rash with thy mouth, and let not thine heart be hasty to utter any thing before God: for God is in heaven, and thou upon earth: therefore let thy words be few. | Non essere precipitoso con la tua bocca, e il tuo cuore non si affretti a proferire alcuna parola davanti a DIO, perché DIO è in cielo e tu sulla terra, perciò le tue parole siano poche. |
| 3 | Car le songe vient de beaucoup d'occupations, et la voix du sot de beaucoup de paroles. | For a dream cometh through the multitude of business; and a fool's voice is known by multitude of words. | Poiché con le molte occupazioni vengono i sogni, e con le molte parole la voce dello stolto. |
| 4 | Quand tu auras voué un voeu à Dieu, ne tarde point à l'acquitter; car il ne prend pas plaisir aux sots: ce que tu auras voué, accomplis-le. | When thou vowest a vow unto God, defer not to pay it; for he hath no pleasure in fools: pay that which thou hast vowed. | Quando hai fatto un voto a DIO non indugiare ad adempierlo, perché egli non si compiace degli stolti; adempi il voto che hai fatto. |
| 5 | Mieux vaut que tu ne fasses point de voeu, que d'en faire un et de ne pas l'accomplir. | Better is it that thou shouldest not vow, than that thou shouldest vow and not pay. | E' meglio non fare voti, che farli e poi non adempierli. |
| 6 | Ne permets pas à ta bouche de faire pécher ta chair, et ne dis point devant l'ange que c'est une erreur. Pourquoi Dieu se courroucerait-il à ta voix, et détruirait-il l'oeuvre de tes mains? | Suffer not thy mouth to cause thy flesh to sin; neither say thou before the angel, that it was an error: wherefore should God be angry at thy voice, and destroy the work of thine hands? | Non lasciare che la tua bocca porti il tuo corpo a peccare, e non dire davanti al messaggero di Dio: E' stato uno sbaglio. | 8 | Si tu vois le pauvre opprimé et le droit et la justice violentés dans un province, ne t'étonne pas de cela; car il y en a un qui est haut au-dessus des hauts, et qui prend garde, et il y en a de plus hauts qu'eux. | If thou seest the oppression of the poor, and violent perverting of judgment and justice in a province, marvel not at the matter: for he that is higher than the highest regardeth; and there be higher than they. | Se nella provincia vedi l'oppressione del povero e la perversione violenta del diritto e della giustizia, non meravigliarti della cosa; poiché sopra un'alta autorità ne veglia una più alta, e sopra di loro, delle autorità ancora più alte. |

| 10 | Celui qui aime l'argent n'est point rassasié par l'argent, et celui qui aime les richesses ne l'est pas par le revenu. Cela aussi est vanité. | He that loveth silver shall not be satisfied with silver; nor he that loveth abundance with increase: this is also vanity. | Chi ama il denaro non si sazia di denaro, e chi ama le ricchezze non ne trae profitto. Anche questo è vanità. |
| 11 | Avec l'augmentation des biens, ceux qui les mangent augmentent aussi; et quel profit en a le maître, sauf qu'il les voit de ses yeux? | When goods increase, they are increased that eat them: and what good is there to the owners thereof, saving the beholding of them with their eyes? | Quando crescono i beni, aumentano anche quelli che li divorano; e quale vantaggio ne hanno i proprietari, se non di vederli con i loro occhi? |

| 18 | Voici ce que j'ai vu de bon et de beau: c'est de manger et de boire et de jouir du bien-être dans tout le travail dont l'homme se tourmente sous le soleil tous les jours de sa vie, que Dieu lui a donnés; car c'est là sa part. | Behold that which I have seen: it is good and comely for one to eat and to drink, and to enjoy the good of all his labour that he taketh under the sun all the days of his life, which God giveth him: for it is his portion. | Ecco ciò che ho compreso: è bene e opportuno per l'uomo mangiare, bere e godere del bene di tutta la fatica che compie sotto il sole, tutti i giorni di vita che DIO gli dà, perché questa è la sua parte. |
| 19 | Et encore tout homme auquel Dieu donne de la richesse et des biens, et le pouvoir d'en manger et d'en prendre sa part, et de se réjouir en son travail,... c'est là un don de Dieu; | Every man also to whom God hath given riches and wealth, and hath given him power to eat thereof, and to take his portion, and to rejoice in his labour; this is the gift of God. | Ogni uomo a cui DIO concede ricchezze e beni e a cui dà pure di poterne godere di prendere la propria parte e di gioire della sua fatica, questo è dono di DIO. |
