| 3 | A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; | un tempo per uccidere e un tempo per guarire, un tempo per demolire e un tempo per costruire, |
| 4 | A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; | un tempo per piangere e un tempo per ridere, un tempo per far cordoglio e un tempo per danzare, |
| 5 | A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing; | un tempo per gettare via pietre e un tempo per raccogliere pietre, un tempo per abbracciare e un tempo per astenersi dagli abbracci, |
| 6 | A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away; | un tempo per cercare e un tempo per perdere, un tempo per conservare e un tempo per buttare via, |
| 7 | A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak; | un tempo per strappare e un tempo per cucire, un tempo per tacere e un tempo per parlare, |
| 8 | A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace. | un tempo per amare e un tempo per odiare, un tempo per la guerra e un tempo per la pace. |
| 9 | What profit hath he that worketh in that wherein he laboureth? | Che vantaggio ha chi lavora da tutto ciò in cui si affatica? |
| 10 | I have seen the travail, which God hath given to the sons of men to be exercised in it. | Ho visto l'occupazione che DIO dà ai figli degli uomini, perché vi si affatichino. |
| 11 | He hath made every thing beautiful in his time: also he hath set the world in their heart, so that no man can find out the work that God maketh from the beginning to the end. | Egli ha fatto ogni cosa bella nel suo tempo; ha persino messo l'eternità nei loro cuori, senza che alcun uomo possa scoprire l'opera che DIO ha fatto dal principio alla fine. |
| 12 | I know that there is no good in them, but for a man to rejoice, and to do good in his life. | Ho così compreso che non c'è nulla di meglio che rallegrarsi e far del bene mentre uno vive; |
| 13 | And also that every man should eat and drink, and enjoy the good of all his labour, it is the gift of God. | e che ogni uomo che mangia, beve a e gode benessere in tutta la sua fatica, questo è un dono di DIO. |
| 14 | I know that, whatsoever God doeth, it shall be for ever: nothing can be put to it, nor any thing taken from it: and God doeth it, that men should fear before him. | Ho compreso che tutto quello che Dio fa è per sempre; non vi si può aggiungere nulla e nulla vi si può togliere e DIO fa così, perché gli uomini lo temano. |
| 15 | That which hath been is now; and that which is to be hath already been; and God requireth that which is past. | Ciò che è, è già stato prima, e ciò che sarà è già stato, e DIO investiga ciò che è passato. |
| 16 | And moreover I saw under the sun the place of judgment, that wickedness was there; and the place of righteousness, that iniquity was there. | Ho pure visto sotto il sole che al posto del giudizio c'era empietà, e al posto della giustizia c'era empietà. |
| 17 | I said in mine heart, God shall judge the righteous and the wicked: for there is a time there for every purpose and for every work. | Così ho detto in cuor mio: DIO giudicherà il giusto e l'empio, perché c'è un tempo stabilito per ogni cosa e per ogni opera. |
| 18 | I said in mine heart concerning the estate of the sons of men, that God might manifest them, and that they might see that they themselves are beasts. | Ho detto in cuor mio: Riguardo alla condizione dei figli degli uomini, DIO li mette alla prova, perché essi stessi si rendano conto che sono come bestie. |
| 19 | For that which befalleth the sons of men befalleth beasts; even one thing befalleth them: as the one dieth, so dieth the other; yea, they have all one breath; so that a man hath no preeminence above a beast: for all is vanity. | Infatti tutto ciò che succede ai figli degli uomini succede alle bestie; ad entrambi succede la stessa cosa. Come muore l'uno, così muore l'altra. Sì, hanno tutti uno stesso soffio; e l'uomo non ha alcuna superiorità sulla bestia perché tutto è vanità. |
| 20 | All go unto one place; all are of the dust, and all turn to dust again. | Tutti vanno nello stesso luogo: tutti vengono dalla polvere e tutti ritornano alla polvere. |
| 21 | Who knoweth the spirit of man that goeth upward, and the spirit of the beast that goeth downward to the earth? | Chi sa se lo spirito dei figli degli uomini, sale in alto, e se lo spirito della bestia scende in basso nella terra? |
| 22 | Wherefore I perceive that there is nothing better, than that a man should rejoice in his own works; for that is his portion: for who shall bring him to see what shall be after him? | Così mi sono reso conto che non c'è nulla di meglio per l'uomo che rallegrarsi nel suo lavoro, perché questa è la sua parte. Chi lo porterà infatti a vedere ciò che accadrà dopo di lui? |
