| 6 | The wind goeth toward the south, and turneth about unto the north; it turneth about continually in its course, and the wind returneth again to its circuits. | Il vento soffia verso il mezzogiorno, poi gira verso settentrione; gira e rigira continuamente e ritorna a fare gli stessi giri. |
| 7 | All the rivers run into the sea, yet the sea is not full; unto the place whither the rivers go, thither they go again. | Tutti i fiumi corrono al mare, ma il mare non si riempie mai; al luogo da cui i fiumi provengono, là essi ritornano nuovamente. |
| 8 | All things are full of weariness; man cannot utter [it]: the eye is not satisfied with seeing, nor the ear filled with hearing. | Tutte le cose richiedono fatica, più di quel che l'uomo possa dire, l'occhio non si sazia mai di guardare, né l'orecchio è mai sazio di udire. |
| 9 | That which hath been is that which shall be; and that which hath been done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun. | Quello che è stato è quel che sarà; quello che è stato fatto è quel che si farà; non c'è nulla di nuovo sotto il sole. |
| 10 | Is there a thing whereof it may be said, See, this is new? it hath been long ago, in the ages which were before us. | C'è qualcosa di cui si possa dire: Guarda, questo è nuovo!? Quella cosa esisteva già nei secoli che ci hanno preceduto. |
| 11 | There is no remembrance of the former [generations]; neither shall there be any remembrance of the latter [generations] that are to come, among those that shall come after. | Non rimane alcun ricordo delle cose passate, e così non rimarrà alcun ricordo delle cose che accadranno tra coloro che verranno in seguito. |

| 13 | And I applied my heart to seek and to search out by wisdom concerning all that is done under heaven: it is a sore travail that God hath given to the sons of men to be exercised therewith. | e ho applicato il mio cuore a cercare e a investigare con sapienza tutto ciò che si fa sotto il cielo; questa è un'occupazione penosa, che DIO ha dato ai figli degli uomini perché vi si affatichino. |
| 14 | I have seen all the works that are done under the sun; and, behold, all is vanity and a striving after wind. | Io ho visto tutte le cose che si fanno sotto il sole, ed ecco tutto è vanità e un cercare di afferrare il vento. |
| 15 | That which is crooked cannot be made straight; and that which is wanting cannot be numbered. | Ciò che è storto non si può raddrizzare e ciò che manca non si può contare. |
| 16 | I communed with mine own hear, saying, Lo, I have gotten me great wisdom above all that were before me in Jerusalem; yea, my heart hath had great experience of wisdom and knowledge. | Io ho parlato col mio cuore, dicendo: Ecco, io ho ottenuto grandezza e acquistato maggiore sapienza di tutti quelli che hanno regnato prima di me in Gerusalemme e il mio cuore ha visto molta sapienza e conoscenza. |
| 17 | And I applied my heart to know wisdom, and to know madness and folly: I perceived that this also was a striving after wind. | E ho applicato il mio cuore a conoscere la sapienza, come pure a conoscere la follia e la stoltezza; e ho compreso che anche questo è un cercare di afferrare il vento. |
| 18 | For in much wisdom is much grief; and he that increaseth knowledge increaseth sorrow. | Poiché dove C'è molta sapienza c'è molto affanno e chi aumenta la conoscenza, aumenta il dolore. |
