Now therefore hearken, O Israel, unto the statutes and unto the judgments, which I teach you, for to do them, that ye may live, and go in and possess the land which the LORD God of your fathers giveth you.	Et maintenant, Israël, écoute les lois et les ordonnances que je vous enseigne pour les mettre en pratique, afin que vous viviez, que vous entriez et que vous possédiez le pays que vous donne Yahweh, le Dieu de vos pères.	And now, O Israel, hearken unto the statutes and unto the ordinances, which I teach you, to do them; that ye may live, and go in and possess the land which Jehovah, the God of your fathers, giveth you.
2	Vous n'ajouterez rien à ce que je vous prescris, et vous n'en retrancherez rien ; mais vous observerez les commandements de l'Éternel, votre Dieu, tels que je vous les prescris.	Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you. 3	Vos yeux ont vu ce que l'Éternel a fait à l'occasion de Baal Peor : l'Éternel, ton Dieu, a détruit du milieu de toi tous ceux qui étaient allés après Baal Peor.	Your eyes have seen what the LORD did because of Baalpeor: for all the men that followed Baalpeor, the LORD thy God hath destroyed them from among you.	Vos yeux ont vu ce que Yahweh a fait à cause de Baal-Phogor : Yahweh, ton Dieu, a détruit du milieu de toi tous ceux qui avaient suivi Baal-Phogor;	Your eyes have seen what Jehovah did because of Baal-peor; for all the men that followed Baal-peor, Jehovah thy God hath destroyed them from the midst of thee.
4	Et vous, qui vous êtes attachés à l'Éternel, votre Dieu, vous êtes aujourd'hui tous vivants.	But ye that did cleave unto the LORD your God are alive every one of you this day.	tandis que vous, qui vous êtes attachés à Yahweh, votre Dieu, vous êtes aujourd'hui tous vivants. 5	Voici, je vous ai enseigné des lois et des ordonnances, comme l'Éternel, mon Dieu, me l'a commandé, afin que vous les mettiez en pratique dans le pays dont vous allez prendre possession.	Behold, I have taught you statutes and judgments, even as the LORD my God commanded me, that ye should do so in the land whither ye go to possess it.	Je vous ai enseigné des lois et des ordonnances comme Yahweh, mon Dieu, me l'a commandé, afin que vous les mettiez en pratique dans le pays où vous entrez pour le posséder.	Behold, I have taught you statutes and ordinances, even as Jehovah my God commanded me, that ye should do so in the midst of the land whither ye go in to possess it.
6	Vous les observerez et vous les mettrez en pratique ; car ce sera là votre sagesse et votre intelligence aux yeux des peuples, qui entendront parler de toutes ces lois et qui diront : Cette grande nation est un peuple absolument sage et intelligent !	Keep therefore and do them; for this is your wisdom and your understanding in the sight of the nations, which shall hear all these statutes, and say, Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people.	Vous les observerez et les mettrez en pratique; car ce sera là votre sagesse et votre intelligence, aux yeux des peuples qui entendront parler de toutes ces lois et diront : Certes, cette grande nation est un peuple sage et intelligent!	Keep therefore and do them; for this is your wisdom and your understanding in the sight of the peoples, that shall hear all these statutes, and say, Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people.
7	Quelle est, en effet, la grande nation qui ait des dieux aussi proches que l'Éternel, notre Dieu, l'est de nous toutes les fois que nous l'invoquons ?	For what nation is there so great, who hath God so nigh unto them, as the LORD our God is in all things that we call upon him for?	Quelle est, en effet, la grande nation qui ait des dieux près d'elle, comme nous avons Yahweh, notre Dieu, toutes les fois que nous l'invoquons ? 8	Et quelle est la grande nation qui ait des lois et des ordonnances justes, comme toute cette loi que je vous présente aujourd'hui ?	And what nation is there so great, that hath statutes and judgments so righteous as all this law, which I set before you this day?	Et quelle est la grande nation qui ait des lois et des ordonnances justes, comme toute cette loi que je mets aujourd'hui devant vous ? 9	Seulement, prends garde à toi et veille attentivement sur ton âme, tous les jours de ta vie, de peur que tu n'oublies les choses que tes yeux ont vues, et qu'elles ne sortent de ton coeur ; enseigne-les à tes enfants et aux enfants de tes enfants.	Only take heed to thyself, and keep thy soul diligently, lest thou forget the things which thine eyes have seen, and lest they depart from thy heart all the days of thy life: but teach them thy sons, and thy sons' sons;	Seulement prends garde à toi et garde attentivement ton âme, de peur d'oublier les choses que tes yeux ont vues, et de les laisser sortir de ton coeur, un seul jour de ta vie; mais enseigne-les à tes enfants et aux enfants de tes enfants.	Only take heed to thyself, and keep thy soul diligently, lest thou forget the things which thine eyes saw, and lest they depart from thy heart all the days of thy life; but make them known unto thy children and thy children`s children;
10	Souviens-toi du jour où tu te présentas devant l'Éternel, ton Dieu, à Horeb, lorsque l'Éternel me dit : Assemble auprès de moi le peuple ! Je veux leur faire entendre mes paroles, afin qu'ils apprennent à me craindre tout le temps qu'ils vivront sur la terre ; et afin qu'ils les enseignent à leurs enfants.	Specially the day that thou stoodest before the LORD thy God in Horeb, when the LORD said unto me, Gather me the people together, and I will make them hear my words, that they may learn to fear me all the days that they shall live upon the earth, and that they may teach their children.	Souviens-toi du jour où tu te présenteras devant Yahweh, ton Dieu, en Horeb, lorsque Yahweh me dit : «Assemble-moi le peuple; je leur ferai entendre mes paroles, afin qu'ils apprennent à me craindre, tout le temps qu'ils les enseignent à leurs enfants.»	the day that thou stoodest before Jehovah thy God in Horeb, when Jehovah said unto me, Assemble me the people, and I will make them hear my words, that they may learn to fear me all the days that they live upon the earth, and that they may teach their children.
11	Vous vous approchâtes et vous vous tîntes au pied de la montagne. La montagne était embrasée, et les flammes s'élevaient jusqu'au milieu du ciel. Il y avait des ténèbres, des nuées, de l'obscurité.	And ye came near and stood under the mountain; and the mountain burned with fire unto the midst of heaven, with darkness, clouds, and thick darkness.	Vous vous approchâtes et vous vous tîntes au pied de la montagne; la montagne était en feu et la flamme s'élevait jusque dans les profondeurs du ciel, parmi des ténèbres, des nuées et de l'obscurité. 12	Et l'Éternel vous parla du milieu du feu ; vous entendîtes le son des paroles, mais vous ne vîtes point de figure, vous n'entendîtes qu'une voix.	And the LORD spake unto you out of the midst of the fire: ye heard the voice of the words, but saw no similitude; only ye heard a voice. 13	Il publia son alliance, qu'il vous ordonna d'observer, les dix commandements ; et il les écrivit sur deux tables de pierre.	And he declared unto you his covenant, which he commanded you to perform, even ten commandments; and he wrote them upon two tables of stone. 14	En ce temps-là, l'Éternel me commanda de vous enseigner des lois et des ordonnances, afin que vous les mettiez en pratique dans le pays dont vous allez prendre possession.	And the LORD commanded me at that time to teach you statutes and judgments, that ye might do them in the land whither ye go over to possess it. 19	Veille sur ton âme, de peur que, levant tes yeux vers le ciel, et voyant le soleil, la lune et les étoiles, toute l'armée des cieux, tu ne sois entraîné à te prosterner en leur présence et à leur rendre un culte : ce sont des choses que l'Éternel, ton Dieu, a données en partage à tous les peuples, sous le ciel tout entier.	And lest thou lift up thine eyes unto heaven, and when thou seest the sun, and the moon, and the stars, even all the host of heaven, shouldest be driven to worship them, and serve them, which the LORD thy God hath divided unto all nations under the whole heaven.	de peur que, levant les yeux vers le ciel, et voyant le soleil, la lune et les étoiles, toute l'armée des cieux, tu ne sois attiré à te prosterner devant eux et à leur rendre un culte, eux que Yahweh, ton Dieu, a donnés en partage à tous les peuples qui sont partout sous le ciel.	and lest thou lift up thine eyes unto heaven, and when thou seest the sun and the moon and the stars, even all the host of heaven, thou be drawn away and worship them, and serve them, which Jehovah thy God hath allotted unto all the peoples under the whole heaven.
20	Mais vous, l'Éternel vous a pris, et vous a fait sortir de la fournaise de fer de l'Égypte, afin que vous fussiez un peuple qui lui appartînt en propre, comme vous l'êtes aujourd'hui.	But the LORD hath taken you, and brought you forth out of the iron furnace, even out of Egypt, to be unto him a people of inheritance, as ye are this day.	Mais vous, Yahweh vous a pris et vous a fait sortir de la fournaise à fondre le fer, de l'Egypte, pour devenir le peuple de son héritage, comme vous l'êtes aujourd'hui.	But Jehovah hath taken you, and brought you forth out of the iron furnace, out of Egypt, to be unto him a people of inheritance, as at this day.
21	Et l'Éternel s'irrita contre moi, à cause de vous ; et il jura que je ne passerais point le Jourdain, et que je n'entrerais point dans le bon pays que l'Éternel, ton Dieu, te donne en héritage.	Furthermore the LORD was angry with me for your sakes, and sware that I should not go over Jordan, and that I should not go in unto that good land, which the LORD thy God giveth thee for an inheritance:	Et Yahweh s'irrita contre moi, à cause de vous, et il jura que je ne passerais pas le Jourdain, et que je n'entrerais pas dans le bon pays que Yahweh, ton Dieu, te donne en héritage.	Furthermore Jehovah was angry with me for your sakes, and sware that I should not go over the Jordan, and that I should not go in unto that good land, which Jehovah thy God giveth thee for an inheritance:
22	Je mourrai donc en ce pays-ci, je ne passerai point le Jourdain ; mais vous le passerez, et vous posséderez ce bon pays.	But I must die in this land, I must not go over Jordan: but ye shall go over, and possess that good land. 23	Veillez sur vous, afin de ne point mettre en oubli l'alliance que l'Éternel, votre Dieu, a traitée avec vous, et de ne point vous faire d'image taillée, de représentation quelconque, que l'Éternel, ton Dieu, t'ait défendue.	Take heed unto yourselves, lest ye forget the covenant of the LORD your God, which he made with you, and make you a graven image, or the likeness of any thing, which the LORD thy God hath forbidden thee.	Prenez garde à vous, pour ne pas oublier l'alliance que Yahweh, votre Dieu, a contractée avec vous, et ne pas vous faire d'image taillée, de figure quelconque de ce que Yahweh, ton Dieu, t'a défendu.	Take heed unto yourselves, lest ye forget the covenant of Jehovah your God, which he made with you, and make you a graven image in the form of anything which Jehovah thy God hath forbidden thee.

25	Lorsque tu auras des enfants, et des enfants de tes enfants, et que vous serez depuis longtemps dans le pays, si vous vous corrompez, si vous faites des images taillées, des représentations de quoi que ce soit, si vous faites ce qui est mal aux yeux de l'Éternel, votre Dieu, pour l'irriter, -	When thou shalt beget children, and children's children, and ye shall have remained long in the land, and shall corrupt yourselves, and make a graven image, or the likeness of any thing, and shall do evil in the sight of the LORD thy God, to provoke him to anger:	Lorsque tu auras des enfants et des enfants, et que vous aurez longtemps habité le pays, si vous vous corrompez et si vous vous faites quelque image taillée, figure de quoi que ce soit, faisant ainsi ce qui est mal aux yeux de Yahweh, ton Dieu, pour l'irriter,	When thou shalt beget children, and children`s children, and ye shall have been long in the land, and shall corrupt yourselves, and make a graven image in the form of anything, and shall do that which is evil in the sight of Jehovah thy God, to provoke him to anger;
26	j'en prends aujourd'hui à témoin contre vous le ciel et la terre, -vous disparaîtrez par une mort rapide du pays dont vous allez prendre possession au delà du Jourdain, vous n'y prolongerez pas vos jours, car vous serez entièrement détruits.	I call heaven and earth to witness against you this day, that ye shall soon utterly perish from off the land whereunto ye go over Jordan to possess it; ye shall not prolong your days upon it, but shall utterly be destroyed.	-- j'en prends aujourd'hui à témoin contre vous le ciel et la terre, -- vous périrez bientôt et disparaîtrez du pays dont vous allez prendre possession en passant le Jourdain; vous n'y prolongerez pas vos jours, car vous serez entièrement détruits. 27	L'Éternel vous dispersera parmi les peuples, et vous ne resterez qu'un petit nombre au milieu des nations où l'Éternel vous emmènera.	And the LORD shall scatter you among the nations, and ye shall be left few in number among the heathen, whither the LORD shall lead you. 28	Et là, vous servirez des dieux, ouvrage de mains d'homme, du bois et de la pierre, qui ne peuvent ni voir, ni entendre, ni manger, ni sentir.	And there ye shall serve gods, the work of men's hands, wood and stone, which neither see, nor hear, nor eat, nor smell. 29	C'est de là aussi que tu chercheras l'Éternel, ton Dieu, et que tu le trouveras, si tu le cherches de tout ton coeur et de toute ton âme.	But if from thence thou shalt seek the LORD thy God, thou shalt find him, if thou seek him with all thy heart and with all thy soul.	De là vous chercherez Yahweh, ton Dieu, et tu le trouveras, si tu le cherches de tout ton coeur et de toute ton âme.	But from thence ye shall seek Jehovah thy God, and thou shalt find him, when thou searchest after him with all thy heart and with all thy soul.
30	Au sein de ta détresse, toutes ces choses t'arriveront. Alors, dans la suite des temps, tu retourneras à l'Éternel, ton Dieu, et tu écouteras sa voix ;	When thou art in tribulation, and all these things are come upon thee, even in the latter days, if thou turn to the LORD thy God, and shalt be obedient unto his voice;	Au milieu de ta détresse, quand toutes ces choses seront venues sur toi, dans les derniers jours, tu retourneras à Yahweh, ton Dieu, et tu écouteras sa voix;	When thou art in tribulation, and all these things are come upon thee, in the latter days thou shalt return to Jehovah thy God, and hearken unto his voice:
31	car l'Éternel, ton Dieu, est un Dieu de miséricorde, qui ne t'abandonnera point et ne te détruira point : il n'oubliera pas l'alliance de tes pères, qu'il leur a jurée.	(For the LORD thy God is a merciful God;) he will not forsake thee, neither destroy thee, nor forget the covenant of thy fathers which he sware unto them.	car c'est un Dieu compatissant que Yahweh, ton Dieu : il ne t'abandonnera pas et ne te détruira pas; il n'oubliera pas son alliance avec tes pères, qu'il leur a jurée.	for Jehovah thy God is a merciful God; he will not fail thee, neither destroy thee, nor forget the covenant of thy fathers which he sware unto them.
32	Interroge les temps anciens qui t'ont précédé, depuis le jour où Dieu créa l'homme sur la terre, et d'une extrémité du ciel à l'autre : y eut-il jamais si grand événement, et a-t-on jamais ouï chose semblable ?	For ask now of the days that are past, which were before thee, since the day that God created man upon the earth, and ask from the one side of heaven unto the other, whether there hath been any such thing as this great thing is, or hath been heard like it?	Interroge les temps anciens qui t'ont précédé, depuis le jour où Dieu créa l'homme sur la terre, et d'une extrémité du ciel à l'autre extrémité : est-il jamais arrivé si grande chose, et a-t-on jamais entendu rien de pareil ?	For ask now of the days that are past, which were before thee, since the day that God created man upon the earth, and from the one end of heaven unto the other, whether there hath been [any such thing] as this great thing is, or hath been heard like it?
33	Fut-il jamais un peuple qui entendît la voix de Dieu parlant du milieu du feu, comme tu l'as entendue, et qui soit demeuré vivant ?	Did ever people hear the voice of God speaking out of the midst of the fire, as thou hast heard, and live?	Un peuple a-t-il entendu la voix de Dieu parlant du milieu du feu, comme tu l'as entendue, et est-il demeuré vivant ?	Did ever a people hear the voice of God speaking out of the midst of the fire, as thou hast heard, and live?
34	Fut-il jamais un dieu qui essayât de venir prendre à lui une nation du milieu d'une nation, par des épreuves, des signes, des miracles et des combats, à main forte et à bras étendu, et avec des prodiges de terreur, comme l'a fait pour vous l'Éternel, votre Dieu, en Égypte et sous vos yeux ?	Or hath God assayed to go and take him a nation from the midst of another nation, by temptations, by signs, and by wonders, and by war, and by a mighty hand, and by a stretched out arm, and by great terrors, according to all that the LORD your God did for you in Egypt before your eyes?	Jamais un dieu essaya-t-il de venir prendre pour lui une nation du milieu d'une autre nation, par des épreuves, des signes, des miracles, par la guerre, à main forte et à bras étendu, et par de grandes épouvantes, selon tout ce qu'a fait pour vous Yahweh, votre Dieu, sous tes yeux, en Egypte ? 35	Tu as été rendu témoin de ces choses, afin que tu reconnusses que l'Éternel est Dieu, qu'il n'y en a point d'autre.	Unto thee it was shewed, that thou mightest know that the LORD he is God; there is none else beside him.	Ces choses t'ont été montrées, afin que tu connusses que c'est Yahweh qui est Dieu, et qu'il n'y en a point d'autre que lui. 36	Du ciel, il t'a fait entendre sa voix pour t'instruire ; et, sur la terre, il t'a fait voir son grand feu, et tu as entendu ses paroles du milieu du feu.	Out of heaven he made thee to hear his voice, that he might instruct thee: and upon earth he shewed thee his great fire; and thou heardest his words out of the midst of the fire.
