| 1 | Hear this word, ye kine of Bashan, that are in the mountain of Samaria, that oppress the poor, that crush the needy, that say unto their lords, Bring, and let us drink. | Ascoltate questa parola, vacche di Bashan che siete sul monte di Samaria, voi, che opprimete i miseri, che maltrattate i poveri, che dite ai vostri signori: Portate vino e beviamo. |
| 2 | The Lord Jehovah hath sworn by his holiness, that, lo, the days shall come upon you, that they shall take you away with hooks, and your residue with fish-hooks. | Il Signore, l'Eterno, ha giurato per la sua SANTITA': Ecco, verranno per voi giorni, in cui sarete portate via con uncini e quelli rimasti con ami da pesca. |
| 3 | And ye shall go out at the breaches, every one straight before her; and ye shall cast [yourselves] into Harmon, saith Jehovah. | Uscirete attraverso le brecce, ognuna dritto davanti a sé, e sarete gettate nell'Harmon dice l'Eterno. |
| 4 | Come to Beth-el, and transgress; to Gilgal, [and] multiply transgression; and bring your sacrifices every morning, [and] your tithes every three days; | Andate a Bethel e peccate, a Ghilgal peccate ancora di più. Portate ogni mattina i vostri sacrifici e ogni tre giorni le vostre decime. |
| 5 | and offer a sacrifice of thanksgiving of that which is leavened, and proclaim freewill-offerings and publish them: for this pleaseth you, O ye children of Israel, saith the Lord Jehovah. | Offrite un sacrificio di ringraziamento con lievito. Proclamate le offerte volontarie e propagandatele, perché così vi piace di fare, o figli d'Israele, dice il Signore l'Eterno. |
| 6 | And I also have given you cleanness of teeth in all your cities, and want of bread in all your places; yet have ye not returned unto me, saith Jehovah. | Vi ho pure lasciato a denti asciutti in tutte le vostre città e senza pane in tutte le vostre dimore, ma non siete ritornati a me, dice l'Eterno. |
| 7 | And I also have withholden the rain from you, when there were yet three months to the harvest; and I caused it to rain upon one city, and caused it not to rain upon another city: one piece was rained upon, and the piece whereupon it rained not withered. | Inoltre ho trattenuto da voi la pioggia a tre mesi dalla mietitura. Ho fatto piovere su una città, mentre non è piovuto su un'altra città. Su una parte di campo è piovuto, ma la parte su cui non è piovuto è seccata. |
| 8 | So two or three cities wandered unto one city to drink water, and were not satisfied: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith Jehovah. | Così due o tre città vagavano verso un'altra città per bere acqua, senza potersi dissetare, ma voi non siete tornati a me, dice l'Eterno. |
| 9 | I have smitten you with blasting and mildew: the multitude of your gardens and your vineyards and your fig-trees and your olive-trees hath the palmer-worm devoured: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith Jehovah. | Vi ho colpito con il carbonchio e con la ruggine. Il bruco ha divorato i vostri numerosi giardini, le vostre vigne, i vostri fichi e i vostri ulivi, ma voi non siete tornati a me, dice l'Eterno. |
| 10 | I have sent among you the pestilence after the manner of Egypt: your young men have I slain with the sword, and have carried away your horses; and I have made the stench of your camp to come up even into your nostrils: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith Jehovah. | Ho mandato fra voi la peste, come avevo fatto in Egitto; ho ucciso i vostri giovani con la spada assieme ai vostri cavalli catturati; ho fatto salire il fetore dei vostri accampamenti nelle vostre stesse narici, ma non siete ritornati a me dice l'Eterno. |
| 11 | I have overthrown [cities] among you, as when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah, and ye were as a brand plucked out of the burning: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith Jehovah. | Vi ho travolti, come Sodoma e Gomorra, e voi siete stati come un tizzone strappato da un incendio, ma non siete ritornati a me, dice l'Eterno. |
| 12 | Therefore thus will I do unto thee, O Israel; [and] because I will do this unto thee, prepare to meet thy God, O Israel. | Perciò così farò a te o Israele; e perché io farò questo a te preparati o Israele, a incontrare il tuo DIO. |
| 13 | For, lo, he that formeth the mountains, and createth the wind, and declareth unto man what is his thought; that maketh the morning darkness, and treadeth upon the high places of the Earth-jehovah, the God of hosts, is his name. | Poiché ecco, colui che forma i monti e crea il vento, che fa conoscere all'uomo qual è il suo pensiero, che cambia l'aurora in tenebre e cammina sugli alti luoghi della terra: l'Eterno il DIO degli eserciti, è il suo nome. |
