| 1 | And after the uproar was ceased, Paul called unto him the disciples, and embraced them, and departed for to go into Macedonia. | Et quand il eut passé par ces quartiers-là, et qu'il y eut fait plusieurs exhortations, il vint en Grèce. |
| 2 | And when he had gone over those parts, and had given them much exhortation, he came into Greece, | Et après y avoir séjourné trois mois, les Juifs lui ayant dressé des embûches au cas qu'il fût allé s'embarquer pour la Syrie, on fut d'avis de retourner par la Macédoine. |
| 3 | And there abode three months. And when the Jews laid wait for him, as he was about to sail into Syria, he purposed to return through Macedonia. | Et Sopater Béréen le devait accompagner jusqu'en Asie; et d'entre les Thessaloniciens Aristarque et Second, avec Gaïus Derbien, et Timothée; et de ceux d'Asie, Tychique et Trophime. |
| 4 | And there accompanied him into Asia Sopater of Berea; and of the Thessalonians, Aristarchus and Secundus; and Gaius of Derbe, and Timotheus; and of Asia, Tychicus and Trophimus. | Ceux-ci donc étant allés devant, nous attendirent à Troas. |
| 5 | These going before tarried for us at Troas. | Et nous, ayant levé l'ancre à Philippes, après les jours des pains sans levain, nous arrivâmes au bout de cinq jours auprès d'eux à Troas, et nous y séjournâmes sept jours. |
| 6 | And we sailed away from Philippi after the days of unleavened bread, and came unto them to Troas in five days; where we abode seven days. | Et le premier jour de la semaine, les disciples étant assemblés pour rompre le pain, Paul, qui devait partir le lendemain, leur fit un discours, qu'il étendit jusqu'à minuit. |
| 7 | And upon the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul preached unto them, ready to depart on the morrow; and continued his speech until midnight. | Or il y avait beaucoup de lampes dans la chambre haute où ils étaient assemblés. |
| 8 | And there were many lights in the upper chamber, where they were gathered together. | Et un jeune homme nommé Eutyche, qui était assis sur une fenêtre, étant abattu d'un profond sommeil pendant le long discours de Paul, emporté du sommeil tomba en bas du troisième étage, et fut levé mort. |
| 9 | And there sat in a window a certain young man named Eutychus, being fallen into a deep sleep: and as Paul was long preaching, he sunk down with sleep, and fell down from the third loft, and was taken up dead. | Mais Paul étant descendu, se pencha sur lui, et l'embrassa, et dit: ne vous troublez point, car son âme est en lui. |
| 10 | And Paul went down, and fell on him, and embracing him said, Trouble not yourselves; for his life is in him. | Et après qu'il fut remonté, et qu'il eut rompu le pain, et mangé, et qu'il eut parlé longtemps jusqu'à l'aube du jour, il partit. |
| 11 | When he therefore was come up again, and had broken bread, and eaten, and talked a long while, even till break of day, so he departed. | Et ils amenèrent là le jeune homme vivant, de quoi ils furent extrêmement consolés. |
| 12 | And they brought the young man alive, and were not a little comforted. | Or étant entrés dans le navire nous fûmes portés à Assos, où nous devions reprendre Paul: car il l'avait ainsi ordonné, ayant résolu de faire ce chemin à pied. |
| 13 | And we went before to ship, and sailed unto Assos, there intending to take in Paul: for so had he appointed, minding himself to go afoot. | Et lorsqu'il nous eut rejoints à Assos, nous le prîmes avec nous, et nous allâmes à Mitylène. |
| 14 | And when he met with us at Assos, we took him in, and came to Mitylene. | Puis étant partis de là, le jour suivant nous abordâmes vis-à-vis de Chios; le lendemain nous arrivâmes à Samos; et nous étant arrêtés à Trogyle, nous vînmes le jour d'après à Milet. |
| 15 | And we sailed thence, and came the next day over against Chios; and the next day we arrived at Samos, and tarried at Trogyllium; and the next day we came to Miletus. | Car Paul s'était proposé de passer au-delà d'Ephèse, afin de ne point séjourner en Asie; parce qu'il se hâtait d'être, s'il lui était possible, le jour de la Pentecôte à Jérusalem. |
| 16 | For Paul had determined to sail by Ephesus, because he would not spend the time in Asia: for he hasted, if it were possible for him, to be at Jerusalem the day of Pentecost. | Or il envoya de Milet à Ephèse, pour faire venir les Anciens de l'Eglise; |
| 17 | And from Miletus he sent to Ephesus, and called the elders of the church. | Qui étant venus vers lui, il leur dit: Vous savez de quelle manière je me suis toujours conduit avec vous dès le premier jour que je suis entré en Asie; |
| 18 | And when they were come to him, he said unto them, Ye know, from the first day that I came into Asia, after what manner I have been with you at all seasons, | Servant le Seigneur en toute humilité, et avec beaucoup de larmes, et parmi beaucoup d'épreuves, qui me sont arrivées par les embûches des Juifs. |
| 19 | Serving the LORD with all humility of mind, and with many tears, and temptations, which befell me by the lying in wait of the Jews: | Et comment je ne me suis épargné en rien de ce qui vous était utile, vous ayant prêché, et ayant enseigné publiquement, et par les maisons. |
| 20 | And how I kept back nothing that was profitable unto you, but have shewed you, and have taught you publickly, and from house to house, | Conjurant les Juifs et les Grecs de se convertir à Dieu, et de croire en Jésus-Christ notre Seigneur. |
| 21 | Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ. | Et maintenant voici, étant lié par l'Esprit, je m'en vais à Jérusalem, ignorant les choses qui m'y doivent arriver; |
| 22 | And now, behold, I go bound in the spirit unto Jerusalem, not knowing the things that shall befall me there: | Sinon que le Saint-Esprit m'avertit de ville en ville, disant que des liens et des tribulations m'attendent. |
| 23 | Save that the Holy Ghost witnesseth in every city, saying that bonds and afflictions abide me. | Mais je ne fais cas de rien, et ma vie ne m'est point précieuse, pourvu qu'avec joie j'achève ma course, et le ministère que j'ai reçu du Seigneur Jésus, pour rendre témoignage à l'Evangile de la grâce de Dieu. |
| 24 | But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God. | Et maintenant voici, je sais qu'aucun de vous tous, parmi lesquels j'ai passé en prêchant le Royaume de Dieu, ne me verra plus. |
| 25 | And now, behold, I know that ye all, among whom I have gone preaching the kingdom of God, shall see my face no more. | C'est pourquoi je vous prends aujourd'hui à témoin, que je suis net du sang de tous. |
| 26 | Wherefore I take you to record this day, that I am pure from the blood of all men. | Car je ne me suis point épargné à vous annoncer tout le conseil de Dieu. |
| 27 | For I have not shunned to declare unto you all the counsel of God. | Prenez donc garde à vous-mêmes, et à tout le troupeau sur lequel le Saint-Esprit vous a établis Evêques, pour paître l'Eglise de Dieu, laquelle il a acquise par son propre sang. |
| 28 | Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood. | Car je sais qu'après mon départ il entrera parmi vous des loups très dangereux, qui n'épargneront point le troupeau. |
| 29 | For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock. | Et qu'il se lèvera d'entre vous-mêmes des hommes qui annonceront des doctrines corrompues dans la vue d'attirer des disciples après eux. |
| 30 | Also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them. | C'est pourquoi veillez, vous souvenant que durant l'espace de trois ans, je n'ai cessé nuit et jour d'avertir un chacun de vous. |
| 31 | Therefore watch, and remember, that by the space of three years I ceased not to warn every one night and day with tears. | Et maintenant, mes frères, je vous recommande à Dieu, et à la parole de sa grâce, lequel est puissant pour achever de vous édifier, et pour vous donner l'héritage avec tous les Saints. |
| 32 | And now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified. | Je n'ai convoité ni l'argent, ni l'or, ni la robe de personne. |
| 33 | I have coveted no man's silver, or gold, or apparel. | Et vous savez vous-mêmes que ces mains m'ont fourni les choses qui m'étaient nécessaires, et à ceux qui étaient avec moi. |
| 34 | Yea, ye yourselves know, that these hands have ministered unto my necessities, and to them that were with me. | Je vous ai montré en toutes choses qu'en travaillant ainsi il faut supporter les infirmes, et se souvenir des paroles du Seigneur Jésus, qui a dit qu'on est plus heureux de pouvoir donner que d'être appelé à recevoir. |
| 35 | I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive. | Et quand Paul eut dit ces paroles, il se mit à genoux, et fit la prière avec eux tous. |
| 36 | And when he had thus spoken, he kneeled down, and prayed with them all. | Alors tous se fondirent en larmes, et se jetant au cou de Paul, ils le baisaient; |
| 37 | And they all wept sore, and fell on Paul's neck, and kissed him, | Etant tristes principalement à cause de cette parole qu'il leur avait dite, qu'ils ne le verraient plus, et ils le conduisirent au navire. |
| 38 | Sorrowing most of all for the words which he spake, that they should see his face no more. And they accompanied him unto the ship. | Ainsi donc étant partis, et nous étant éloignés d'eux, nous tirâmes droit à Coos, et le jour suivant à Rhodes, et de là à Patara. |
