| 1 | And the apostles and brethren that were in Judaea heard that the Gentiles had also received the word of God. | Or les Apôtres et les frères qui étaient en Judée, apprirent que les Gentils aussi avaient reçu la parole de Dieu. |
| 2 | And when Peter was come up to Jerusalem, they that were of the circumcision contended with him, | Et quand Pierre fut remonté à Jérusalem, ceux de la Circoncision disputaient avec lui, |
| 3 | Saying, Thou wentest in to men uncircumcised, and didst eat with them. | Disant: tu es entré chez des hommes incirconcis, et tu as mangé avec eux. |
| 4 | But Peter rehearsed the matter from the beginning, and expounded it by order unto them, saying, | Alors Pierre commençant leur exposa le tout par ordre, disant: |
| 5 | I was in the city of Joppa praying: and in a trance I saw a vision, A certain vessel descend, as it had been a great sheet, let down from heaven by four corners; and it came even to me: | J'étais en prière dans la ville de Joppe, et étant ravi en esprit, je vis une vision, savoir un vaisseau comme un grand linceul, qui descendait du ciel, lié par les quatre bouts, et qui vint jusqu'à moi. |
| 6 | Upon the which when I had fastened mine eyes, I considered, and saw fourfooted beasts of the earth, and wild beasts, and creeping things, and fowls of the air. | Dans lequel ayant jeté les yeux, j'y aperçus et j y vis des animaux terrestres à quatre pieds, des bêtes sauvages, des reptiles, et des oiseaux du ciel. |
| 7 | And I heard a voice saying unto me, Arise, Peter; slay and eat. | J'ouïs aussi une voix qui me dit: Pierre, lève-toi, tue, et mange. |
| 8 | But I said, Not so, Lord: for nothing common or unclean hath at any time entered into my mouth. | Et je répondis: je n'ai garde, Seigneur! car jamais chose immonde, ou souillée, n'entra dans ma bouche. |
| 9 | But the voice answered me again from heaven, What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common. | Et la voix me répondit encore du ciel: ce que Dieu a purifié, ne le tiens point pour souillé. |
| 10 | And this was done three times: and all were drawn up again into heaven. | Et cela se fit jusqu'à trois fois; et puis toutes ces choses furent retirées au ciel. |
| 11 | And, behold, immediately there were three men already come unto the house where I was, sent from Caesarea unto me. | Et voici, en ce même instant trois hommes, qui avaient été envoyés de Césarée vers moi, se présentèrent à la maison où j'étais; |
| 12 | And the Spirit bade me go with them, nothing doubting. Moreover these six brethren accompanied me, and we entered into the man's house: | Et l'Esprit me dit que j'allasse avec eux, sans en faire difficulté; et ces six frères-ci vinrent aussi avec moi, et nous entrâmes dans la maison de cet homme. |
| 13 | And he shewed us how he had seen an angel in his house, which stood and said unto him, Send men to Joppa, and call for Simon, whose surname is Peter; | Et il nous raconta comme il avait vu dans sa maison un Ange qui s'était présenté à lui, et qui lui avait dit: envoie des gens à Joppe, et fais venir Simon qui est surnommé Pierre; |
| 14 | Who shall tell thee words, whereby thou and all thy house shall be saved. | Qui te dira des choses par lesquelles tu seras sauvé, toi, et toute ta maison. |
| 15 | And as I began to speak, the Holy Ghost fell on them, as on us at the beginning. | Et quand j'eus commencé à parler, le Saint-Esprit descendit sur eux, comme aussi il était descendu sur nous au commencement. |
| 16 | Then remembered I the word of the Lord, how that he said, John indeed baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost. | Alors je me souvins de cette parole du Seigneur, et comment il avait dit: Jean a baptisé d'eau, mais vous serez baptisés du Saint-Esprit. |
| 17 | Forasmuch then as God gave them the like gift as he did unto us, who believed on the Lord Jesus Christ; what was I, that I could withstand God? | Puis donc que Dieu leur a accordé un pareil don qu'à nous qui avons cru au Seigneur Jésus-Christ, qui étais-je moi, qui pusse m'opposer à Dieu? |
| 18 | When they heard these things, they held their peace, and glorified God, saying, Then hath God also to the Gentiles granted repentance unto life. | Alors ayant ouï ces choses, ils s'apaisèrent, et ils glorifièrent Dieu, en disant: Dieu a donc donné aussi aux Gentils la repentance pour avoir la vie. |
| 19 | Now they which were scattered abroad upon the persecution that arose about Stephen travelled as far as Phenice, and Cyprus, and Antioch, preaching the word to none but unto the Jews only. | Or quant à ceux qui avaient été dispersés par la persécution excitée à l'occasion d'Etienne, ils passèrent jusqu'en Phénicie, et en Cypre, et à Antioche, sans annoncer la parole à personne qu'aux Juifs seulement. |
| 20 | And some of them were men of Cyprus and Cyrene, which, when they were come to Antioch, spake unto the Grecians, preaching the LORD Jesus. | Mais il y en eut quelques-uns d'entre eux, Cypriens, et Cyréniens, qui étant entrés dans Antioche, parlaient aux Grecs, annonçant le Seigneur Jésus. |
| 21 | And the hand of the Lord was with them: and a great number believed, and turned unto the Lord. | Et la main du Seigneur était avec eux; tellement qu'un grand nombre ayant cru, fut converti au Seigneur. |
| 22 | Then tidings of these things came unto the ears of the church which was in Jerusalem: and they sent forth Barnabas, that he should go as far as Antioch. | Et le bruit en vint aux oreilles de l'Eglise qui était à Jérusalem: c'est pourquoi ils envoyèrent Barnabas pour passer à Antioche. |
| 23 | Who, when he came, and had seen the grace of God, was glad, and exhorted them all, that with purpose of heart they would cleave unto the Lord. | Lequel y étant arrivé, et ayant vu la grâce de Dieu, il s'en réjouit; et il les exhortait tous de demeurer attachés au Seigneur de tout leur coeur. |
| 24 | For he was a good man, and full of the Holy Ghost and of faith: and much people was added unto the Lord. | Car il était homme de bien, et plein du Saint-Esprit, et de foi; et un grand nombre de personnes se joignirent au Seigneur. |
| 25 | Then departed Barnabas to Tarsus, for to seek Saul: | Puis Barnabas s'en alla à Tarse, pour chercher Saul. |
| 26 | And when he had found him, he brought him unto Antioch. And it came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves with the church, and taught much people. And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch. | Et l'ayant trouvé il le mena à Antioche; et il arriva que durant un an tout entier, ils s'assemblèrent avec l'Eglise, et enseignèrent un grand peuple, de sorte que ce fut premièrement à Antioche que les disciples furent nommés Chrétiens. |
| 27 | And in these days came prophets from Jerusalem unto Antioch. | Or en ces jours-là quelques Prophètes descendirent de Jérusalem à Antioche. |
| 28 | And there stood up one of them named Agabus, and signified by the Spirit that there should be great dearth throughout all the world: which came to pass in the days of Claudius Caesar. | Et l'un d'eux, nommé Agabus, se leva, et déclara par l'Esprit, qu'une grande famine devait arriver dans tout le monde; et, en effet, elle arriva sous Claude César. |
| 29 | Then the disciples, every man according to his ability, determined to send relief unto the brethren which dwelt in Judaea: | Et les disciples, chacun selon son pouvoir, déterminèrent d'envoyer quelque chose pour subvenir aux frères qui demeuraient en Judée. |
| 30 | Which also they did, and sent it to the elders by the hands of Barnabas and Saul. | Ce qu'ils firent aussi, l'envoyant aux Anciens par les mains de Barnabas et de Saul. |
