Ainsi parle le Seigneur, l'Éternel, sur Édom : -Nous avons appris une nouvelle de la part de l'Éternel, Et un messager a été envoyé parmi les nations : Levez-vous, marchons contre Édom pour lui faire la guerre ! - | The vision of Obadiah. Thus saith the Lord Jehovah concerning Edom: We have heard tidings from Jehovah, and an ambassador is sent among the nations, [saying], Arise ye, and let us rise up against her in battle. | La visione di Abdia. Così dice il Signore, l'Eterno, riguardo a Edom: Noi abbiamo udito un messaggio dall'Eterno e un ambasciatore è stato mandato tra le nazioni, per dire: "Muovetevi e leviamoci contro di lei per combattere". |

| 3 | L'orgueil de ton coeur t'a égaré, Toi qui habites le creux des rochers, Qui t'assieds sur les hauteurs, Et qui dis en toi-même : Qui me précipitera jusqu'à terre ? | The pride of thy heart hath deceived thee, O thou that dwellest in the clefts of the rock, whose habitation is high; that saith in his heart, Who shall bring me down to the ground? | L'orgoglio del tuo cuore ti ha ingannata o tu che abiti nelle fessure delle rocce di cui hai fatto la tua alta dimora, che dici in cuor tuo: "Chi mi farà scendere a terra?". |
| 4 | Quand tu placerais ton nid aussi haut que celui de l'aigle, Quand tu le placerais parmi les étoiles, Je t'en précipiterai, dit l'Éternel. | Though thou mount on high as the eagle, and though thy nest be set among the stars, I will bring thee down from thence, saith Jehovah. | Anche se t'innalzassi come un'aquila e ponessi il tuo nido fra le stelle, io ti farò scendere di lassù, dice l'Eterno. |
| 5 | Si des voleurs, des pillards, viennent de nuit chez toi, Comme te voilà dévasté ! Mais enlèvent-ils plus qu'ils ne peuvent ? Si des vendangeurs viennent chez toi, Ne laissent-ils rien à grappiller ?... | If thieves came to thee, if robbers by night (how art thou cut off!), would they not steal [only] till they had enough? if grape-gatherers came to thee, would they not leave some gleaning grapes? | Se di notte venissero da te ladri o predoni, come saresti distrutta! Non ruberebbero quanto loro basta? Se venissero da te dei vendemmiatori, non lascerebbero alcuni grappoli da racimolare? |
| 6 | Ah ! comme Ésaü est fouillé ! Comme ses trésors sont découverts ! | How are [the things of] Esau searched! how are his hidden treasures sought out! | Oh, come sarà frugato Esaù come saranno rovistati i suoi nascondigli! |
| 7 | Tous tes alliés t'ont chassé jusqu'à la frontière, Tes amis t'ont joué, t'ont dominé, Ceux qui mangeaient ton pain t'ont dressé des pièges, Et tu n'as pas su t'en apercevoir ! | All the men of thy confederacy have brought thee on thy way, even to the border: the men that were at peace with thee have deceived thee, and prevailed against thee; [they that eat] thy bread lay a snare under thee: there is no understanding in him. | Tutti i tuoi alleati ti costringeranno alla frontiera, quelli che erano in pace con te ti inganneranno e prevarranno contro di te, quelli che mangiano il tuo pane ti tenderanno tranelli; ma egli non ha intendimento di questo. |
| 8 | N'est-ce pas en ce jour, dit l'Éternel, Que je ferai disparaître d'Édom les sages, Et de la montagne d'Ésaü l'intelligence ? | Shall I not in that day, saith Jehovah, destroy the wise men out of Edom, and understanding out of the mount of Esau? | In quel giorno, dice l'Eterno, io farò scomparire da Edom i savi e dal monte di Esaù l'intendimento. |
| 9 | Tes guerriers, ô Théman, seront dans l'épouvante, Car tous ceux de la montagne d'Ésaü périront dans le carnage. | And thy mighty men, O Teman, shall be dismayed, to the end that every one may be cut off from the mount of Esau by slaughter. | Allora i tuoi uomini valorosi saranno presi da sgomento, o Teman, affinché ogni uomo sia sterminato dal monte di Esaù nel massacro. |
| 10 | A cause de ta violence contre ton frère Jacob, Tu seras couvert de honte, Et tu seras exterminé pour toujours. | For the violence done to thy brother Jacob, shame shall cover thee, and thou shalt be cut off for ever. | Per la violenza contro tuo fratello Giacobbe, la vergogna ti coprirà e sarai sterminato per sempre. |
| 11 | Le jour où tu te tenais en face de lui, Le jour où des étrangers emmenaient captive son armée, Où des étrangers entraient dans ses portes, Et jetaient le sort sur Jérusalem, Toi aussi tu étais comme l'un d'eux. | In the day that thou stoodest on the other side, in the day that strangers carried away his substance, and foreigners entered into his gates, and cast lots upon Jerusalem, even thou wast as one of them. | Il giorno in cui te ne stavi in disparte. Il giorno in cui gli stranieri conducevano in cattività il suo esercito ed estranei entravano per le sue porte e gettavano le sorti su Gerusalemme, anche tu eri come uno di loro. |
| 12 | Ne repais pas ta vue du jour de ton frère, du jour de son malheur, Ne te réjouis pas sur les enfants de Juda au jour de leur ruine, Et n'ouvre pas une grande bouche au jour de la détresse ! | But look not thou on the day of thy brother in the day of his disaster, and rejoice not over the children of Judah in the day of their destruction; neither speak proudly in the day of distress. | Ma tu non avresti dovuto guardare con gioia per il giorno di tuo fratello, il giorno della sua sventura, né avresti dovuto rallegrarti sui figli di Giuda, nel giorno della loro distruzione e neppure parlare con arroganza nel giorno della sventura. |
| 13 | N'entre pas dans les portes de mon peuple au jour de sa ruine, Ne repais pas ta vue de son malheur au jour de sa ruine, Et ne porte pas la main sur ses richesses au jour de sa ruine ! | Enter not into the gate of my people in the day of their calamity; yea, look not thou on their affliction in the day of their calamity, neither lay ye [hands] on their substance in the day of their calamity. | Non avresti dovuto entrare per la porta del mio popolo, nel giorno della sua calamità, né guardare anche tu con piacere sulla sua afflizione, nel giorno della sua calamità e neppure stendere le mani sui suoi beni nel giorno della sua calamità. |
| 14 | Ne te tiens pas au carrefour pour exterminer ses fuyards, Et ne livre pas ses réchappés au jour de la détresse ! | And stand thou not in the crossway, to cut off those of his that escape; and deliver not up those of his that remain in the day of distress. | Non avresti dovuto metterti ai crocicchi delle strade per massacrare i suoi fuggiaschi né avresti dovuto dare in mano del nemico i suoi superstiti nel giorno della sventura. |
| 15 | Car le jour de l'Éternel est proche, pour toutes les nations ; Il te sera fait comme tu as fait, Tes oeuvres retomberont sur ta tête. | For the day of Jehovah is near upon all the nations: as thou hast done, it shall be done unto thee; thy dealing shall return upon thine own head. | Poiché il giorno dell'Eterno è vicino per tutte le nazioni; ciò che hai fatto ad altri sarà fatto a te, la retribuzione delle tue azioni ricadrà sul tuo capo. |
| 16 | Car, comme vous avez bu sur ma montagne sainte, Ainsi toutes les nations boiront sans cesse ; Elles boiront, elles avaleront, Et elles seront comme si elles n'avaient jamais été. | For as ye have drunk upon my holy mountain, so shall all the nations drink continually; yea, they shall drink, and swallow down, and shall be as though they had not been. | Poiché come avete bevuto sul mio monte santo, così berranno tutte le nazioni del continuo; sì, berranno, ingoieranno e saranno come se non fossero mai state. |
| 17 | Mais le salut sera sur la montagne de Sion, elle sera sainte, Et la maison de Jacob reprendra ses possessions. | But in mount Zion there shall be those that escape, and it shall be holy; and the house of Jacob shall possess their possessions. | Ma sul monte di Sion vi saranno i superstiti e sarà un luogo santo; e la casa di Giacobbe entrerà in possesso delle sue proprietà. |
| 18 | La maison de Jacob sera un feu, et la maison de Joseph une flamme ; Mais la maison d'Ésaü sera du chaume, Qu'elles allumeront et consumeront ; Et il ne restera rien de la maison d'Ésaü, Car l'Éternel a parlé. | And the house of Jacob shall be a fire, and the house of Joseph a flame, and the house of Esau for stubble, and they shall burn among them, and devour them; and there shall not be any remaining to the house of Esau; for Jehovah hath spoken it. | La casa di Giacobbe sarà un fuoco e la casa di Giuseppe una fiamma, ma la casa di Esaù sarà come stoppia: essi la incendieranno e la divoreranno, e alla casa di Esaù non rimarrà più alcun superstite, perché l'Eterno ha parlato. |
| 19 | Ceux du midi posséderont la montagne d'Ésaü, Et ceux de la plaine le pays des Philistins ; Ils posséderont le territoire d'Éphraïm et celui de Samarie ; Et Benjamin possédera Galaad. | And they of the South shall possess the mount of Esau, and they of the lowland the Philistines; and they shall possess the field of Ephraim, and the field of Samaria; and Benjamin [shall possess] Gilead. | Quelli del Neghev, possederanno il monte di Esaù e la pianura del paese dei Filistei, possederanno anche i campi di Efraim, e i campi di Samaria e Beniamino, possederà Galaad. |
| 20 | Les captifs de cette armée des enfants d'Israël Posséderont le pays occupé par les Cananéens jusqu'à Sarepta, Et les captifs de Jérusalem qui sont à Sepharad Posséderont les villes du midi. | And the captives of this host of the children of Israel, that are [among] the Canaanites, [shall possess] even unto Zarephath; and the captives of Jerusalem, that are in Sepharad, shall possess the cities of the South. | Gli esuli di questo esercito dei figli d'Israele, che sono fra i Cananei, possederanno il paese fino a Sarepta, gli esuli di Gerusalemme, che sono a Sefarad possederanno le città del Neghev. |
| 21 | Des libérateurs monteront sur la montagne de Sion, Pour juger la montagne d'Ésaü ; Et à l'Éternel appartiendra le règne. | And saviours shall come up on mount Zion to judge the mount of Esau; and the kingdom shall be Jehovah`s. | Allora dei liberatori saliranno sul monte Sion per giudicare il monte di Esaù, e il regno sarà dell'Eterno. |
