| 1 | But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you. | Ora, quanto ai tempi e alle stagioni, fratelli, non avete bisogno che ve ne scriva, |
| 2 | For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. | poiché voi stessi sapete molto bene che il giorno del Signore verrà come un ladro di notte. |
| 3 | For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape. | Quando infatti diranno: Pace e sicurezza, allora una subitanea rovina cadrà loro addosso, come le doglie di parto alla donna incinta e non scamperanno affatto. |
| 4 | But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief. | Ma voi, fratelli, non siete nelle tenebre, così che quel giorno vi sorprenda come un ladro. |
| 5 | Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness. | Voi tutti siete figli della luce e figli del giorno; noi non siamo della notte né delle tenebre. |
| 6 | Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober. | Perciò non dormiamo come gli altri, ma vegliamo e siamo sobri. |
| 7 | For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night. | Infatti coloro che dormono, dormono di notte, e coloro che s'inebriano, s'inebriano di notte. |
| 8 | But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation. | Ma noi, poiché siamo del giorno, siamo sobri, avendo rivestito la corazza della fede e dell'amore, e preso per elmo la speranza della salvezza. |
| 9 | For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ, | Poiché Dio non ci ha destinati all'ira, ma ad ottenere salvezza per mezzo del Signore nostro Gesù Cristo, |
| 10 | Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him. | il quale è morto per noi perché, sia che vegliamo sia che dormiamo, viviamo insieme con lui. |
| 11 | Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do. | Perciò consolatevi gli uni gli altri ed edificatevi l'un l'altro, come già fate. |
| 12 | And we beseech you, brethren, to know them which labour among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you; | Ora, fratelli, vi preghiamo di aver rispetto per quelli che si affaticano fra di voi, che vi sono preposti nel Signore e che vi ammoniscono, |
| 13 | And to esteem them very highly in love for their work's sake. And be at peace among yourselves. | e di averli in somma stima nell'amore per la loro opera. Vivete in pace fra voi. |
| 14 | Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men. | Ora, fratelli, vi esortiamo ad ammonire i disordinati, a confortare gli scoraggiati, a sostenere i deboli e ad essere pazienti verso tutti. |
| 15 | See that none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men. | Guardate che nessuno renda male per male ad alcuno; anzi procacciate sempre il bene gli uni verso gli altri e verso tutti. |
| 16 | Rejoice evermore. | Siate sempre allegri. |
| 17 | Pray without ceasing. | Non cessate mai di pregare |
| 18 | In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. | In ogni cosa rendete grazie, perché tale è la volontà di Dio in Cristo Gesù verso di voi. |
| 19 | Quench not the Spirit. | Non spegnete lo Spirito. |
| 20 | Despise not prophesyings. | Non disprezzate le profezie. |
| 21 | Prove all things; hold fast that which is good. | Provate ogni cosa, ritenete il bene. |
| 22 | Abstain from all appearance of evil. | Astenetevi da ogni apparenza di male. |
| 23 | And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. | Ora il Dio della pace vi santifichi egli stesso completamente; e l'intero vostro spirito, anima e corpo siano conservati irreprensibili per la venuta del Signor nostro Gesù Cristo. |
| 24 | Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it. | Fedele è colui che vi chiama, e farà anche questo. |
| 25 | Brethren, pray for us. | Fratelli, pregate per noi. |
| 26 | Greet all the brethren with an holy kiss. | Salutate tutti i fratelli con un santo bacio. |
| 27 | I charge you by the Lord that this epistle be read unto all the holy brethren. | Vi scongiuro per il Signore che questa epistola sia letta a tutti i santi fratelli. |
| 28 | The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen. | La grazia del Signor nostro Gesù Cristo sia con voi. Amen. |
