Et Peninna avait des enfants, mais Anne n'avait pas d'enfants. | And he had two wives; the name of the one was Hannah, and the name of the other Peninnah: and Peninnah had children, but Hannah had no children. | Cet homme montait de sa ville, chaque année, pour adorer Yahweh des armées et lui offrir des sacrifices à Silo. Là étaient les deux fils d'Héli, Ophni et Phinées, prêtres de Yahweh. |
| 3 | Et cet homme montait chaque année de sa ville pour adorer l'Éternel des armées et lui sacrifier à Silo; et là étaient les deux fils d'Éli, Hophni et Phinées, sacrificateurs de l'Éternel. | And this man went up out of his city yearly to worship and to sacrifice unto the LORD of hosts in Shiloh. And the two sons of Eli, Hophni and Phinehas, the priests of the LORD, were there. | Le jour où Elcana offrait son sacrifice, il donnait des portions de la victime à Phénenna, sa femme, et à tous ses fils et à toutes ses filles; |
| 4 | Et il arriva que le jour où Elkana sacrifia, il donna des portions à Peninna, sa femme, et à chacun de ses fils et de ses filles; | And when the time was that Elkanah offered, he gave to Peninnah his wife, and to all her sons and her daughters, portions: | et il donnait à Anne une double portion, car il aimait Anne, et Yahweh l'avait rendue stérile. |
| 5 | mais à Anne il donna une portion double, car il aimait Anne; mais l'Éternel avait fermé sa matrice. | But unto Hannah he gave a worthy portion; for he loved Hannah: but the LORD had shut up her womb. | Sa rivale l'affligeait encore extrêmement, afin de l'aigrir de ce que Yahweh l'avait rendue stérile. |
| 6 | Et son ennemie la chagrinait aigrement, afin de la pousser à l'irritation, parce que l'Éternel avait fermé sa matrice. | And her adversary also provoked her sore, for to make her fret, because the LORD had shut up her womb. | Et chaque année Elcana faisait ainsi, toutes les fois qu'elle montait à la maison de Yahweh, et Phénenna la mortifiait de la même manière. Alors elle pleurait et ne mangeait point. |
| 7 | Et Elkana faisait ainsi d'année en année. Chaque fois qu'elle montait à la maison de l'Éternel, Peninna la chagrinait ainsi; et elle pleurait, et ne mangeait pas. | And as he did so year by year, when she went up to the house of the LORD, so she provoked her; therefore she wept, and did not eat. | Elcana, son mari, lui disait : « Anne, pourquoi pleures-tu et ne manges-tu pas ? Pourquoi ton coeur est-il triste ? Est-ce que je ne suis pas pour toi mieux que dix fils ? » |
| 8 | Et Elkana, son mari, lui dit: Anne, pourquoi pleures-tu? et pourquoi ne manges-tu pas? et pourquoi ton coeur est-il chagrin? Est-ce que je ne vaux pas mieux pour toi que dix fils? | Then said Elkanah her husband to her, Hannah, why weepest thou? and why eatest thou not? and why is thy heart grieved? am not I better to thee than ten sons? | Anne se leva, après qu'on eut mangé et bu à Silo, --Héli, le grand prêtre, était assis sur un siège devant un des poteaux du temple de Yahweh.-- |
| 9 | Et Anne se leva, après qu'on eut mangé à Silo, et après qu'on eut bu; (et Éli, le sacrificateur, était assis sur un siège près de l'un des poteaux du temple de l'Éternel); | So Hannah rose up after they had eaten in Shiloh, and after they had drunk. Now Eli the priest sat upon a seat by a post of the temple of the LORD. | L'âme pleine d'amertume, elle pria Yahweh et versa beaucoup de larmes; |
| 10 | et elle avait l'amertume dans l'âme, et elle pria l'Éternel et pleura abondamment. | And she was in bitterness of soul, and prayed unto the LORD, and wept sore. | et elle fit un voeu, en disant : « Yahweh des armées, si vous daignez regarder l'affliction de votre servante, si vous vous souvenez de moi et n'oubliez point votre servante, et si vous donnez à votre servante un enfant mâle, je le donnerai à Yahweh pour tous les jours de sa vie, et le rasoir ne passera pas sur sa tête. » |
| 11 | Et elle fit un voeu, et dit: Éternel des armées! si tu veux regarder à l'affliction de ta servante, et si tu te souviens de moi et n'oublies pas ta servante, et que tu donnes à ta servante un enfant mâle, je le donnerai à l'Éternel pour tous les jours de sa vie; et le rasoir ne passera pas sur sa tête. | And she vowed a vow, and said, O LORD of hosts, if thou wilt indeed look on the affliction of thine handmaid, and remember me, and not forget thine handmaid, but wilt give unto thine handmaid a man child, then I will give him unto the LORD all the days of his life, and there shall no razor come upon his head. | Comme elle restait longtemps en prière devant Yahweh, Héli observa sa bouche. |
| 12 | Et il arriva que, comme elle priait longuement devant l'Éternel, Éli observa sa bouche. | And it came to pass, as she continued praying before the LORD, that Eli marked her mouth. | Anne parlait en son coeur et remuait seulement les lèvres, sans que sa voix se fit entendre. |
| 13 | Et Anne parlait dans son coeur; ses lèvres seulement remuaient, mais on n'entendait pas sa voix; | Now Hannah, she spake in her heart; only her lips moved, but her voice was not heard: therefore Eli thought she had been drunken. | Héli pensa donc qu'elle était ivre, et il lui dit : « Jusques à quand seras-tu dans l'ivresse ? Fais passer ton vin. » |
| 14 | et Éli pensa qu'elle était ivre. Et Éli lui dit: Jusques à quand seras-tu ivre? | And Eli said unto her, How long wilt thou be drunken? put away thy wine from thee. | Anne répondit : « Non, mon seigneur je suis une femme affligée dans son coeur; je n'ai bu ni vin ni boisson enivrante, mais j'épanchais mon âme devant Yahweh. |
| 15 | Ote ton vin d'avec toi. Et Anne répondit et dit: Non, mon seigneur; je suis une femme qui a l'esprit accablé; je n'ai bu ni vin ni boisson forte, mais je répandais mon âme devant l'Éternel. | And Hannah answered and said, No, my lord, I am a woman of a sorrowful spirit: I have drunk neither wine nor strong drink, but have poured out my soul before the LORD. | Ne prends pas ta servante pour une femme de Bélial, car c'est dans l'excès de ma peine et de ma douleur que j'ai parlé jusqu'ici. » |
| 16 | Ne mets pas ta servante au rang d'une fille de Bélial; car c'est dans la grandeur de ma plainte et de mon chagrin que j'ai parlé jusqu'à présent. | Count not thine handmaid for a daughter of Belial: for out of the abundance of my complaint and grief have I spoken hitherto. | Héli reprit la parole et lui dit : « Va en paix, et que le Dieu d'Israël exauce la prière que tu lui as adressée! » |
| 17 | Et Éli répondit et dit: Va en paix; et que le Dieu d'Israël t'accorde la demande que tu lui as faite! | Then Eli answered and said, Go in peace: and the God of Israel grant thee thy petition that thou hast asked of him. | Elle dit : « Que ta servante trouve grâce à tes yeux! » Et cette femme alla son chemin; elle mangea, et son visage n'était plus le même. |
| 18 | Et elle dit: Que ta servante trouve grâce à tes yeux! Et la femme s'en alla son chemin; et elle mangea, et elle n'eut plus le même visage. | And she said, Let thine handmaid find grace in thy sight. So the woman went her way, and did eat, and her countenance was no more sad. | Ils se levèrent de bon matin et, s'étant prosternés devant Yahweh, ils s'en retournèrent et revinrent dans leur maison à Rama. |
| 19 | Et ils se levèrent de bonne heure le matin, et se prosternèrent devant l'Éternel; et ils s'en retournèrent et vinrent dans leur maison, à Rama. Et Elkana connut Anne, sa femme; et l'Éternel se souvint d'elle. | And they rose up in the morning early, and worshipped before the LORD, and returned, and came to their house to Ramah: and Elkanah knew Hannah his wife; and the LORD remembered her. | Elcana connut Anne, sa femme, et Yahweh se souvint d'elle. Après le temps révolu, Anne ayant conçu, enfanta un fils, qu'elle nomma Samuel, « car, dit-elle, je l'ai demandé à Yahweh. » |
| 20 | Et il arriva que, quand les jours furent révolus, Anne, ayant conçu, enfanta un fils; et elle appela son nom Samuel: car je l'ai demandé à l'Éternel. | Wherefore it came to pass, when the time was come about after Hannah had conceived, that she bare a son, and called his name Samuel, saying, Because I have asked him of the LORD. | Son mari Elcana monta avec toute sa maison pour offrir à Yahweh le sacrifice annuel et pour accomplir son voeu. |
| 21 | Et Elkana, son mari, monta avec toute sa maison pour sacrifier à l'Éternel le sacrifice annuel et son voeu. | And the man Elkanah, and all his house, went up to offer unto the LORD the yearly sacrifice, and his vow. | Mais Anne ne monta pas, et elle dit à son mari : « Quand l'enfant sera sevré, je le mènerai pour qu'il paraisse devant Yahweh et qu'il demeure là toujours. » |
| 22 | Mais Anne ne monta pas, car elle dit à son mari: J'attendrai jusqu'à ce que l'enfant soit sevré; alors je le mènerai, afin qu'il paraisse devant l'Éternel et qu'il habite là pour toujours. | But Hannah went not up; for she said unto her husband, I will not go up until the child be weaned, and then I will bring him, that he may appear before the LORD, and there abide for ever. | Elcana, son mari, lui dit : « Fais ce qui te semblera bon, reste ici jusqu'à ce que tu l'aies sevré. Daigne seulement Yahweh accomplir sa parole! » Et la femme resta et allaita son fils, jusqu'à ce qu'elle le sevrât. |
| 23 | Et Elkana, son mari, lui dit: Fais ce qui est bon à tes yeux, demeure jusqu'à ce que tu l'aies sevré; seulement, que l'Éternel accomplisse sa parole! Et la femme demeura, et elle allaita son fils jusqu'à ce qu'elle l'eût sevré. | And Elkanah her husband said unto her, Do what seemeth thee good; tarry until thou have weaned him; only the LORD establish his word. So the woman abode, and gave her son suck until she weaned him. | Quand elle l'eut sevré, elle le fit monter avec elle, ayant pris un taureau de trois ans, un épha de farine et une outre de vin, et elle le mena dans la maison de Yahweh à Silo; l'enfant était encore tout jeune. |
| 24 | Et sitôt qu'elle l'eut sevré, elle l'emmena avec elle, avec trois jeunes taureaux, et un épha de farine et une outre de vin; et elle le mena à la maison de l'Éternel à Silo; et l'enfant était très-jeune. | And when she had weaned him, she took him up with her, with three bullocks, and one ephah of flour, and a bottle of wine, and brought him unto the house of the LORD in Shiloh: and the child was young. | Ils égorgèrent le taureau, et ils conduisirent l'enfant à Héli. |
| 25 | Et ils égorgèrent le taureau, et ils amenèrent le jeune garçon à Éli. | And they slew a bullock, and brought the child to Eli. | Anne dit : « Pardon, mon seigneur. Aussi vrai que ton âme vit, mon seigneur, je suis cette femme qui me tenais ici près de toi pour prier Yahweh. |
| 26 | Et elle dit: Ah, mon seigneur! Ton âme est vivante, mon seigneur, je suis la femme qui se tenait ici près de toi pour prier l'Éternel. | And she said, Oh my lord, as thy soul liveth, my lord, I am the woman that stood by thee here, praying unto the LORD. | C'est pour cet enfant que je priais, et Yahweh m'a accordé la demande que je lui avais faite. |
| 27 | J'ai prié pour cet enfant, et l'Éternel m'a accordé la demande que je lui ai faite. | For this child I prayed; and the LORD hath given me my petition which I asked of him: | Moi aussi je le donne à Yahweh; tous les jours de sa vie, il sera donné à Yahweh. » Et ils se prosternèrent là devant Yahweh. |
| 28 | Et aussi, moi je l'ai prêté à l'Éternel; pour tous les jours de sa vie, il est prêté à l'Éternel. Et il se prosterna là devant l'Éternel. | Therefore also I have lent him to the LORD; as long as he liveth he shall be lent to the LORD. And he worshipped the LORD there. | Anne pria et dit : Mon coeur tressaille de joie en Yahweh, ma corne a été élevée par Yahweh, ma bouche est ouverte sur mes ennemis, car je me suis réjouie de ton secours. |
