| 10 | As the LORD thy God liveth, there is no nation or kingdom, whither my lord hath not sent to seek thee: and when they said, He is not there; he took an oath of the kingdom and nation, that they found thee not. | Com'è vero che l'Eterno, il tuo DIO, vive, non c'è nazione e regno in cui il mio signore non abbia mandato a cercarti; e quando dicevano: "Non è qui", facevo giurare il regno e la nazione che non avevano potuto trovarti. |

| 12 | And it shall come to pass, as soon as I am gone from thee, that the Spirit of the LORD shall carry thee whither I know not; and so when I come and tell Ahab, and he cannot find thee, he shall slay me: but I thy servant fear the LORD from my youth. | Ma avverrà che, appena mi sarò allontanato da te, lo Spirito dell'Eterno ti trasporterà in un luogo a me sconosciuto; così io andrò a riferirlo ad Achab, ed egli, non trovandoti, mi ucciderà. | 13 | Was it not told my lord what I did when Jezebel slew the prophets of the LORD, how I hid an hundred men of the LORD's prophets by fifty in a cave, and fed them with bread and water? | Non hanno riferito al mio signore ciò che io feci quando Jezebel uccideva i profeti dell'Eterno? Come io nascosi cento di quei profeti dell'Eterno, cinquanta in una caverna e cinquanta in un'altra e provvidi loro pane e acqua? |
| 14 | And now thou sayest, Go, tell thy lord, Behold, Elijah is here: and he shall slay me. | E ora tu dici: "Va' a dire al tuo signore: C'è qui Elia!". Ma egli mi ucciderà. |
| 15 | And Elijah said, As the LORD of hosts liveth, before whom I stand, I will surely shew myself unto him to day. | Allora Elia rispose: Com'è vero che vive l'Eterno degli eserciti alla cui presenza io sto, oggi mi presenterò ad Achab. |
| 16 | So Obadiah went to meet Ahab, and told him: and Ahab went to meet Elijah. | Abdia dunque andò a trovare Achab e gli riferì la cosa; e Achab andò incontro ad Elia. |
| 17 | And it came to pass, when Ahab saw Elijah, that Ahab said unto him, Art thou he that troubleth Israel? | Con appena Achab vide Elia, gli disse: Sei proprio tu che metti sossopra Israele?. |
| 18 | And he answered, I have not troubled Israel; but thou, and thy father's house, in that ye have forsaken the commandments of the LORD, and thou hast followed Baalim. | Elia rispose: Non sono io che metto sossopra Israele, ma tu e la casa di tuo padre, perché avete abbandonato i comandamenti dell'Eterno e tu sei andato dietro ai Baal. |
| 19 | Now therefore send, and gather to me all Israel unto mount Carmel, and the prophets of Baal four hundred and fifty, and the prophets of the groves four hundred, which eat at Jezebel's table. | Perciò ora manda a chiamare tutto Israele presso di me sul monte Karmel, insieme ai quattrocentocinquanta profeti di Baal e ai quattrocento profeti di Ascerah che mangiano alla mensa di Jezebel. |

| 21 | And Elijah came unto all the people, and said, How long halt ye between two opinions? if the LORD be God, follow him: but if Baal, then follow him. | 22 | Then said Elijah unto the people, I, even I only, remain a prophet of the LORD; but Baal's prophets are four hundred and fifty men. | Allora Elia disse al popolo: Sono rimasto io solo dei profeti dell'Eterno, mentre i profeti di Baal sono in quattrocentocinquanta. |
| 23 | Let them therefore give us two bullocks; and let them choose one bullock for themselves, and cut it in pieces, and lay it on wood, and put no fire under: and I will dress the other bullock, and lay it on wood, and put no fire under: | Ci siano dunque dati due torelli; essi scelgano un torello per loro lo facciano a pezzi e lo mettano sulla legna senza appiccarvi il fuoco; io preparerò l'altro torello e lo metterò sulla legna senza appiccarvi il fuoco. |
| 24 | And call ye on the name of your gods, and I will call on the name of the LORD: and the God that answereth by fire, let him be God. And all the people answered and said, It is well spoken. | Voi invocherete quindi il nome del vostro dio e io invocherò il nome dell'Eterno; il dio che risponderà mediante il fuoco è DIO. Tutto il popolo rispose e disse: Ben detto!. |
| 25 | And Elijah said unto the prophets of Baal, Choose you one bullock for yourselves, and dress it first; for ye are many; and call on the name of your gods, but put no fire under. | Allora Elia disse ai profeti di Baal: Sceglietevi un torello e preparatelo per primi, perché siete i più numerosi; poi invocate il vostro dio, ma senza appiccare il fuoco. |
| 26 | And they took the bullock which was given them, and they dressed it, and called on the name of Baal from morning even until noon, saying, O Baal, hear us. But there was no voice, nor any that answered. And they leaped upon the altar which was made. | Così essi presero il torello che fu dato loro e lo prepararono; poi invocarono il nome di Baal dal mattino fino a mezzogiorno, dicendo: O Baal, rispondici!. Ma non si udì alcuna voce e nessuno rispose; intanto essi saltavano intorno all'altare che avevano fatto. |
| 27 | And it came to pass at noon, that Elijah mocked them, and said, Cry aloud: for he is a god; either he is talking, or he is pursuing, or he is in a journey, or peradventure he sleepeth, and must be awaked. | A mezzogiorno Elia incominciò a beffarsi di loro e a dire: Gridate più forte perché egli è dio; forse sta meditando o è indaffarato o è in viaggio, o magari si è addormentato e dev'essere svegliato. |
| 28 | And they cried aloud, and cut themselves after their manner with knives and lancets, till the blood gushed out upon them. | Così essi si misero a gridare più forte e a farsi incisioni con spade e lance secondo le loro usanze finché grondavano sangue. |
| 29 | And it came to pass, when midday was past, and they prophesied until the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice, that there was neither voice, nor any to answer, nor any that regarded. | Passato mezzogiorno, essi profetizzarono fino al tempo di offrire l'oblazione; ma non si udì alcuna voce nessuno rispose e nessuno diede loro retta. |
| 30 | And Elijah said unto all the people, Come near unto me. And all the people came near unto him. And he repaired the altar of the LORD that was broken down. | Allora Ella disse a tutto il popolo: Avvicinatevi a me!. | 31 | And Elijah took twelve stones, according to the number of the tribes of the sons of Jacob, unto whom the word of the LORD came, saying, Israel shall be thy name: | Poi Elia prese dodici pietre, secondo il numero delle tribù dei figli di Giacobbe al quale l'Eterno aveva detto: Il tuo nome sarà Israele. |
| 32 | And with the stones he built an altar in the name of the LORD: and he made a trench about the altar, as great as would contain two measures of seed. | Con le pietre edificò un altare al nome dell'Eterno e fece intorno all'altare un fosso della capacità di due misure di grano. |
| 33 | And he put the wood in order, and cut the bullock in pieces, and laid him on the wood, and said, Fill four barrels with water, and pour it on the burnt sacrifice, and on the wood. | Poi vi sistemò la legna, fece a pezzi il torello e lo pose sopra la legna. E disse: Riempite quattro brocche d'acqua e versatela sull'olocausto e sulla legna. |
| 34 | And he said, Do it the second time. And they did it the second time. And he said, Do it the third time. And they did it the third time. | Di nuovo disse: Fatelo una seconda volta. Ed essi lo fecero una seconda volta. Egli disse ancora: Fatelo per la terza volta. Ed essi lo fecero per la terza volta. |
| 35 | And the water ran round about the altar; and he filled the trench also with water. | L'acqua scorreva attorno all'altare ed egli riempì d'acqua anche il fosso. |
| 36 | And it came to pass at the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice, that Elijah the prophet came near, and said, LORD God of Abraham, Isaac, and of Israel, let it be known this day that thou art God in Israel, and that I am thy servant, and that I have done all these things at thy word. | All'ora in cui si offriva l'oblazione, il profeta Elia si avvicinò e disse: O Eterno DIO di Abrahamo d'Isacco e d'Israele, fa' che oggi si sappia che tu sei DIO in Israele, che io sono tuo servo e che ho fatto tutte queste cose per tuo comando. |
| 37 | Hear me, O LORD, hear me, that this people may know that thou art the LORD God, and that thou hast turned their heart back again. | Rispondimi, o Eterno, rispondimi, affinché questo popolo riconosca che tu, o Eterno, sei DIO, e che hai fatto ritornare i loro cuori a te. |
| 38 | Then the fire of the LORD fell, and consumed the burnt sacrifice, and the wood, and the stones, and the dust, and licked up the water that was in the trench. | Allora cadde il fuoco dell'Eterno e consumò l'olocausto, la legna, le pietre e la polvere, e prosciugò l'acqua che era nel fosso. |
| 39 | And when all the people saw it, they fell on their faces: and they said, The LORD, he is the God; the LORD, he is the God. | A tale vista, tutto il popolo si gettò con la faccia a terra e disse: L'Eterno è DIO! L'Eterno è DIO!. |
| 40 | And Elijah said unto them, Take the prophets of Baal; let not one of them escape. And they took them: and Elijah brought them down to the brook Kishon, and slew them there. | Quindi Elia disse loro: Prendete i profeti di Baal; non lasciatene scappare neppure uno!. Così essi li presero ed Elia li fece scendere al torrente Kishon, dove li scannò. |
| 41 | And Elijah said unto Ahab, Get thee up, eat and drink; for there is a sound of abundance of rain. | Poi Elia disse ad Achab: Risali, mangia e bevi, perché si ode già il rumore di grande pioggia. |
| 42 | So Ahab went up to eat and to drink. And Elijah went up to the top of Carmel; and he cast himself down upon the earth, and put his face between his knees, | Così Achab risalì per mangiare e bere; ma Elia salì in vetta al Karmel si piegò fino a terra e si mise la faccia tra le ginocchia, |
| 43 | And said to his servant, Go up now, look toward the sea. And he went up, and looked, and said, There is nothing. And he said, Go again seven times. | e disse al suo servo: Ora sali e guarda dalla parte del mare!. Egli salì, guardò e disse: Non c'è niente. Elia gli disse: Ritorna a vedere, per sette volte. |
| 44 | And it came to pass at the seventh time, that he said, Behold, there ariseth a little cloud out of the sea, like a man's hand. And he said, Go up, say unto Ahab, Prepare thy chariot, and get thee down that the rain stop thee not. | La settima volta, il servo disse: C'è una nuvoletta grossa come la palma di una mano, che sale dal mare. Allora Elia disse: Sali e di' ad Achab: "Attacca i cavalli al carro e scendi prima che la pioggia ti sorprenda". |
| 45 | And it came to pass in the mean while, that the heaven was black with clouds and wind, and there was a great rain. And Ahab rode, and went to Jezreel. | In breve tempo il cielo si oscurò a motivo delle nuvole e del vento e cadde una grande pioggia. Così Achab salì sul carro e andò a Jezreel |
| 46 | And the hand of the LORD was on Elijah; and he girded up his loins, and ran before Ahab to the entrance of Jezreel. | La mano dell'Eterno fu sopra Elia, che si cinse i lombi e corse davanti ad Achab fino all'ingresso di Jezreel. |
