| 2 | Paissez le Troupeau de Christ qui vous est commis, en prenant garde sur lui, non point par contrainte, mais volontairement; non point pour un gain déshonnête, mais par un principe d'affection. | Tend the flock of God which is among you, exercising the oversight, not of constraint, but willingly, according to [the will of] God; nor yet for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind; |
| 3 | Et non point comme ayant domination sur les héritages du Seigneur, mais en telle manière que vous soyez pour modèle au Troupeau. | neither as lording it over the charge allotted to you, but making yourselves ensamples to the flock. |
| 4 | Et quand le souverain Pasteur apparaîtra, vous recevrez la couronne incorruptible de gloire. | And when the chief Shepherd shall be manifested, ye shall receive the crown of glory that fadeth not away. |
| 5 | De même, vous jeunes gens, soyez soumis aux Anciens, et ayant tous de la soumission l'un pour l'autre, soyez parés par-dedans d'humilité, parce que Dieu résiste aux orgueilleux, mais il fait grâce aux humbles. | Likewise, ye younger, be subject unto the elder. Yea, all of you gird yourselves with humility, to serve one another: for God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace to the humble. |
| 6 | Humiliez-vous donc sous la puissante main de Dieu, afin qu'il vous élève quand il en sera temps; | Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time; |
| 7 | Lui remettant tout ce qui peut vous inquiéter: car il a soin de vous. | casting all your anxiety upon him, because he careth for you. |
| 8 | Soyez sobres, et veillez: car le diable, votre adversaire, tourne autour de vous comme un lion rugissant, cherchant qui il pourra dévorer. | Be sober, be watchful: your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour, |
| 9 | Résistez-lui donc en demeurant fermes dans la foi, sachant que les mêmes souffrances s'accomplissent en la compagnie de vos frères, qui sont dans le monde. | whom withstand stedfast in your faith, knowing that the same sufferings are accomplished in your brethren who are in the world. |
| 10 | Or le Dieu de toute grâce, qui nous a appelés à sa gloire éternelle en Jésus-Christ, après que vous aurez souffert un peu de temps, vous rende accomplis, vous affermisse, vous fortifie, et vous établisse. | And the God of all grace, who called you unto his eternal glory in Christ, after that ye have suffered a little while, shall himself perfect, establish, strengthen you. |
| 11 | A lui soit la gloire et la force, aux siècles des siècles, Amen! | To him [be] the dominion for ever and ever. Amen. |

Stand ye fast therein. |
| 13 | L'Eglise qui est à Babylone, élue avec vous, et Marc mon fils, vous saluent. | She that is in Babylon, elect together with [you], saluteth you; and [so doth] Mark my son. |
| 14 | Saluez-vous l'un l'autre par un baiser de charité. Que la paix soit à vous tous, qui êtes en Jésus-Christ, Amen! | Salute one another with a kiss of love. Peace be unto you all that are in Christ. |
