Have I not seen Jesus our Lord? Are not ye my work in the Lord? | Non sono io apostolo? Non sono io libero? Non ho io veduto Gesù Cristo, il nostro Signore? Non siete voi la mia opera nel Signore? |
| 2 | Si je ne suis pas apôtre pour d'autres, je le suis pour vous du moins; car vous êtes le sceau de mon apostolat dans le Seigneur. | If to others I am not an apostle, yet at least I am to you; for the seal of mine apostleship are ye in the Lord. | Se non sono apostolo per gli altri, lo sono almeno per voi, poiché voi siete il sigillo del mio apostolato nel Signore. |
| 3 | C'est ici ma défense auprès de ceux qui m'interrogent. | My defence to them that examine me is this. | Questa è la mia difesa nei confronti di coloro che fanno inchieste a mio riguardo. |
| 4 | N'avons-nous pas le droit de manger et de boire? | Have we no right to eat and to drink? | Non abbiamo noi il diritto di mangiare e di bere? |
| 5 | N'avons-nous pas le droit de mener avec nous une soeur comme femme, comme font aussi les autres apôtres, et les frères du Seigneur, et Céphas? | Have we no right to lead about a wife that is a believer, even as the rest of the apostles, and the brethren of the Lord, and Cephas? | Non abbiamo noi il diritto di condurre attorno una moglie, che sia una sorella in fede, come fanno anche gli altri apostoli, i fratelli del Signore e Cefa? |
| 6 | N'y a-t-il que moi et Barnabas qui n'ayons pas le droit de ne pas travailler? | Or I only and Barnabas, have we not a right to forbear working? | O soltanto io e Barnaba non abbiamo il diritto di non lavorare? |
| 7 | Qui jamais va à la guerre à ses propres dépens? Qui plante une vigne et n'en mange pas le fruit? Ou qui paît un troupeau et ne mange pas du lait du troupeau? | What soldier ever serveth at his own charges? who planteth a vineyard, and eateth not the fruit thereof? Or who feedeth a flock, and eateth not of the milk of the flock? | Chi mai va alla guerra a proprie spese? Chi pianta una vigna e non ne mangia il frutto? O chi si prende cura di un gregge e non mangia del latte del gregge? |
| 8 | Est-ce que je dis ces choses selon l'homme? Ou la loi aussi ne dit-elle pas ces choses? | Do I speak these things after the manner of men? or saith not the law also the same? | Dico queste cose secondo l'uomo? Non dice queste cose anche la legge? |
| 9 | Car dans la loi de Moïse il est écrit: "Tu n'emmuselleras pas le boeuf qui foule le grain". Dieu s'occupe-t-il des boeufs? | For it is written in the law of Moses, Thou shalt not muzzle the ox when he treadeth out the corn. Is it for the oxen that God careth, | Nella legge di Mosè infatti sta scritto: Non mettere la museruola al bue che trebbia. Si dà forse Dio pensiero dei buoi? |
| 10 | ou parle-t-il entièrement pour nous? Car c'est pour nous que cela est écrit, que celui qui laboure doit labourer avec espérance, et que celui qui foule le grain doit le fouler dans l'espérance d'y avoir part. | or saith he it assuredly for our sake? Yea, for our sake it was written: because he that ploweth ought to plow in hope, and he that thresheth, [to thresh] in hope of partaking. | Ovvero, dice tutto questo per noi? Certo queste cose sono scritte per noi, perché chi ara deve arare con speranza, e chi trebbia deve trebbiare con la speranza di avere ciò che spera. |
| 11 | Si nous avons semé pour vous des biens spirituels, est-ce beaucoup que nous moissonnions de vos biens charnels? | If we sowed unto you spiritual things, is it a great matter if we shall reap your carnal things? | Se abbiamo seminato fra voi le cose spirituali, è forse gran cosa se mietiamo i vostri beni materiali? |
| 12 | Si d'autres ont part à ce droit sur vous, ne l'avons-nous pas bien plus? Mais nous n'avons pas usé de ce droit, mais nous supportons tout, afin de ne mettre aucun obstacle à l'évangile du Christ. | If others partake of [this] right over you, do not we yet more? Nevertheless we did not use this right; but we bear all things, that we may cause no hindrance to the gospel of Christ. | Se gli altri hanno tale diritto su di voi, non l'avremmo noi molto di più? Noi però non ci serviamo di questo diritto, ma sopportiamo ogni cosa per non porre alcun ostacolo all'evangelo di Cristo. |
| 13 | Ne savez-vous pas que ceux qui s'emploient aux choses sacrées mangent de ce qui vient du temple; que ceux qui servent à l'autel ont leur part de l'autel? | Know ye not that they that minister about sacred things eat [of] the things of the temple, [and] they that wait upon the altar have their portion with the altar? | Non sapete voi che quelli che fanno il servizio sacro mangiano delle cose del tempio, e quelli che servono all'altare hanno parte dei beni dell'altare? |
| 14 | De même aussi, le Seigneur a ordonné à ceux qui annoncent l'évangile, de vivre de l'évangile. | Even so did the Lord ordain that they that proclaim the gospel should live of the gospel. | Così pure il Signore ha ordinato che coloro che annunziano l'evangelo, vivano dell'evangelo. |
| 15 | Mais moi je n'ai usé d'aucune de ces choses, et je n'ai pas écrit ceci, afin qu'il en soit fait ainsi à mon égard; car il serait bon pour moi de mourir, plutôt que de voir quelqu'un anéantir ma gloire. | But I have used none of these things: and I write not these things that it may be so done in my case; for [it were] good for me rather to die, than that any man should make my glorifying void. | Ma io non ho fatto alcun uso di queste cose né ve ne scrivo, affinché si faccia così con me, perché è meglio per me morire, piuttosto che qualcuno renda vano il mio vanto. |
| 16 | Car, si j'évangélise, je n'ai pas de quoi me glorifier, car c'est une nécessité qui m'est imposée, car malheur à moi si je n'évangélise pas. | For if I preach the gospel, I have nothing to glory of; for necessity is laid upon me; for woe is unto me, if I preach not the gospel. | Infatti, se io predico l'evangelo, non ho nulla da gloriarmi, poiché è una necessità che mi è imposta; e guai a me se non predico l'evangelo! |
| 17 | Car, si je fais cela volontairement, j'en ai un salaire; mais si c'est malgré moi, une administration m'est confiée. | For if I do this of mine own will, I have a reward: but if not of mine own will, I have a stewardship intrusted to me. | Se perciò lo faccio volontariamente, ne ho ricompensa; ma se lo faccio contro voglia, rimane sempre un incarico che mi è stato affidato. |
| 18 | Quel est donc mon salaire? C'est que, en évangélisant, je rends l'évangile exempt de frais, pour ne pas user comme d'une chose à moi de mon droit dans l'évangile. | What then is my reward? That, when I preach the gospel, I may make the gospel without charge, so as not to use to the full my right in the gospel. | Qual è dunque il mio premio? Questo: che predicando l'evangelo, io posso offrire l'evangelo di Cristo gratuitamente, per non abusare del mio diritto nell'evangelo. |
| 19 | Car, étant libre à l'égard de tous, je me suis asservi à tous, afin de gagner le plus de gens; | For though I was free from all [men,] I brought myself under bondage to all, that I might gain the more. | Infatti, pur essendo libero da tutti, mi sono fatto servo di tutti, per guadagnarne il maggior numero. |
| 20 | et pour les Juifs, je suis devenu comme Juif, afin de gagner les Juifs; pour ceux qui étaient sous la loi, comme si j'étais sous la loi, n'étant pas moi-même sous la loi, afin de gagner ceux qui étaient sous la loi; | And to the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might gain Jews; to them that are under the law, as under the law, not being myself under the law, that I might gain them that are under the law; | Mi sono così fatto Giudeo con i Giudei, per guadagnare i Giudei; mi sono fatto come uno che è sotto la legge con coloro che sono sotto la legge, per guadagnare quelli che sono sotto la legge; |
| 21 | pour ceux qui étaient sans loi, comme si j'étais sans loi (non que je sois sans loi quant à Dieu, mais je suis justement soumis à Christ), afin de gagner ceux qui étaient sans loi. | to them that are without law, as without law, not being without law to God, but under law to Christ, that I might gain them that are without law. | tra quanti sono senza legge, mi sono fatto come se fossi senza la legge (benché non sia senza la legge di Dio, anzi sotto la legge di Cristo), per guadagnare quanti sono senza la legge. |
| 22 | Je suis devenu pour les faibles comme faible, afin de gagner les faibles; je suis devenu toutes choses pour tous, afin que de toute manière j'en sauve quelques-uns. | To the weak I became weak, that I might gain the weak: I am become all things to all men, that I may by all means save some. | Mi sono fatto debole con i deboli, per guadagnare i deboli; mi sono fatto tutto a tutti, per poterne salvare in qualche modo alcuni. |
| 23 | Et je fais toutes choses à cause de l'évangile, afin que je sois coparticipant avec lui. | And I do all things for the gospel`s sake, that I may be a joint partaker thereof. | Or io faccio questo per l'evangelo, affinché ne sia partecipe anch'io. |
| 24 | Ne savez-vous pas que ceux qui courent dans la lice courent tous, mais un seul reçoit le prix? Courez de telle manière que vous le remportiez. | Know ye not that they that run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? Even so run; that ye may attain. | Non sapete voi che quelli che corrono nello stadio, corrono bensì tutti, ma uno solo ne conquista il premio? Correte in modo da conquistarlo. |
| 25 | Or quiconque combat dans l'arène vit de régime en toutes choses; eux donc, afin de recevoir une couronne corruptible; mais nous, afin d'en recevoir une incorruptible. | And every man that striveth in the games exerciseth self-control in all things. Now they [do it] to receive a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible. | Ora, chiunque compete nelle gare si auto-controlla in ogni cosa; e quei tali fanno ciò per ricevere una corona corruttibile, ma noi dobbiamo farlo per riceverne una incorruttibile. |
| 26 | Moi donc je cours ainsi, non comme ne sachant pas vers quel but; je combats ainsi, non comme battant l'air; | I therefore so run, as not uncertainly; so fight I, as not beating the air: | Io dunque corro, ma non in modo incerto; così combatto, ma non come battendo l'aria; |
| 27 | mais je mortifie mon corps et je l'asservis, de peur qu'après avoir prêché à d'autres, je ne sois moi-même réprouvé. | but I buffet my body, and bring it into bondage: lest by any means, after that I have preached to others, I myself should be rejected. | anzi disciplino il mio corpo e lo riduco in servitù perché, dopo aver predicato agli altri, non sia io stesso riprovato. |
