| 4 | I thank my God always concerning you, for the grace of God which was given you in Christ Jesus; | Io rendo continuamente grazie per voi al mio Dio, a motivo della grazia di Dio che vi è stata data in Cristo Gesù, |
| 5 | that in everything ye were enriched in him, in all utterance and all knowledge; | perché in lui siete stati arricchiti in ogni cosa, in ogni dono di parola e in ogni conoscenza, |
| 6 | even as the testimony of Christ was confirmed in you: | per la testimonianza di Cristo che è stata confermata tra voi, |
| 7 | so that ye come behind in no gift; waiting for the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ; | così che non vi manca alcun dono mentre aspettate la manifestazione del Signor nostro Gesù Cristo, |
| 8 | who shall also confirm you unto the end, [that ye be] unreproveable in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. | il quale vi confermerà fino alla fine, affinché siate irreprensibili nel giorno del nostro Signore Gesù Cristo. |
| 9 | God is faithful, through whom ye were called into the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord. | Fedele è Dio dal quale siete stati chiamati alla comunione del suo Figlio Gesù Cristo, nostro Signore. |
| 10 | Now I beseech you, brethren, through the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing and [that] there be no divisions among you; but [that] ye be perfected together in the same mind and in the same judgment. | Ora, fratelli, vi esorto nel nome del nostro Signore Gesù Cristo ad avere tutti un medesimo parlare e a non avere divisioni tra di voi, ma ad essere perfettamente uniti in un medesimo modo di pensare e di volere. |
| 11 | For it hath been signified unto me concerning you, my brethren, by them [that are of the household] of Chloe, that there are contentions among you. | Mi è stato segnalato infatti a vostro riguardo, fratelli miei, da quelli della casa di Cloe, che vi sono contese fra voi. |
| 12 | Now this I mean, that each one of you saith, I am of Paul; and I of Apollos: and I of Cephas; and I of Christ. | Or voglio dire questo, che ciascuno di voi dice: Io sono di Paolo, io di Apollo, io di Cefa ed io di Cristo. |
| 13 | Is Christ divided? was Paul crucified for you? or were ye baptized into the name of Paul? | Cristo è forse diviso? Paolo è stato forse crocifisso per voi? O siete voi stati battezzati nel nome di Paolo? |
| 14 | I thank God that I baptized none of you, save Crispus and Gaius; | Ringrazio Dio che non ho battezzato alcuno di voi, ad eccezione di Crispo e Gaio, |
| 15 | lest any man should say that ye were baptized into my name. | perché nessuno dica che siete stati battezzati nel mio nome. |
| 16 | And I baptized also the household of Stephanas: besides, I know not whether I baptized any other. | Ho battezzato anche la famiglia di Stefana; per il resto non so se ho battezzato qualcun altro. |
| 17 | For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not in wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made void. | Cristo infatti non mi ha mandato a battezzare, ma ad evangelizzare, non però con sapienza di parola, affinché la croce di Cristo non sia resa vana. |
| 18 | For the word of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us who are saved it is the power of God. | Infatti il messaggio della croce è follia per quelli che periscono, ma per noi che siamo salvati è potenza di Dio. |
| 19 | For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, And the discernment of the discerning will I bring to nought. | Sta scritto infatti: Io farò perire la sapienza dei savi e annullerò l'intelligenza degli intelligenti. |
| 20 | Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of the world? | Dov'è il savio? Dov'è lo scriba? Dov'è il disputatore di questa età? Non ha forse Dio resa stolta la sapienza di questo mondo? |
| 21 | For seeing that in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom knew not God, it was God`s good pleasure through the foolishness of the preaching to save them that believe. | Infatti, poiché nella sapienza di Dio il mondo non ha conosciuto Dio per mezzo della propria sapienza, è piaciuto a Dio di salvare quelli che credono mediante la follia della predicazione |
| 22 | Seeing that Jews ask for signs, and Greeks seek after wisdom: | poiché i Giudei chiedono un segno e i Greci cercano sapienza, |
| 23 | but we preach Christ crucified, unto Jews a stumblingblock, and unto Gentiles foolishness; | ma noi predichiamo Cristo crocifisso, che è scandalo per i Giudei e follia per i Greci; |
| 24 | but unto them that are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God. | ma a quelli che sono chiamati, sia Giudei che Greci, noi predichiamo Cristo, potenza di Dio e sapienza di Dio; |
| 25 | Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men. | poiché la follia di Dio è più savia degli uomini e la debolezza di Dio più forte degli uomini. |
| 26 | For behold your calling, brethren, that not many wise after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, [are called]: | Riguardate infatti la vostra vocazione, fratelli, poiché non ci sono tra di voi molti savi secondo la carne, non molti potenti, non molti nobili, |
| 27 | but God chose the foolish things of the world, that he might put to shame them that are wise; and God chose the weak things of the world, that he might put to shame the things that are strong; | ma Dio ha scelto le cose stolte del mondo per svergognare le savie; e Dio ha scelto le cose deboli del mondo per svergognare le forti; |
| 28 | and the base things of the world, and the things that are despised, did God choose, [yea] and the things that are not, that he might bring to nought the things that are: | e Dio ha scelto le cose ignobili del mondo e le cose spregevoli e le cose che non sono per ridurre al niente quelle che sono, |
| 29 | that no flesh should glory before God. | affinché nessuna carne si glori alla sua presenza. |
| 30 | But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who was made unto us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification, and redemption: | Ora grazie a lui voi siete in Cristo Gesù, il quale da Dio è stato fatto per noi sapienza, giustizia, santificazione e redenzione, |
| 31 | that, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord. | affinché, come sta scritto: Chi si gloria, si glori nel Signore |
